OblioAndArrow Both are great, but if you want something much cheaper so you can change them more often than over-use them then you might consider Kumho KL71. So far so good but need 1-2 years and the wet season to come so I can really judge them. Had 2 STT's and they're very grippy on wet roads but not so great on mud, still great overall and was happy with them. STT Pro's must be better, was gonna buy them but the official provider didn't want to have certificate for 35's in compare to Marshal (Kumho) official provider, and was too cheap in compare.
Bo_Hazem Thanks for the suggestion. STT Pro are great so far, but they lack the "Mountain/Snowflake" designation that are required in some states for winter driving. Running Pro 37s on the JKU now, but looking to run 35 KM3s on the Ram tow pig when they get released. If they survive well on that heavy beast, they should do well on just about anything?
Some Aussie Patrols are extremely heavy, passing 3.5 ton mark. And all mentioned tyres have been used underneath them, so no worries about the muddies they're very tough. My shorty patrol is weighing over 2.5 ton now (2364kg factory curb weight) despite looking very small from the outside, with no bull bars or winch yet. Running 35x12.5R17 Marshal (Kumho) KL71, those weigh around 33.2kg per rubber.
Thanks for giving your honest impression in various conditions without all of the rambling other people do! It was super informative and one of the better ones I’ve seen for sure.
Hi Ronny i love your channel and love the fact i can trust that any review is truly unbiased you do really great work. If you ever get the chance i would love to see you run some bridgestones, i currently run a D674 and do think it is good but it is hard to find a truly unbiased review for my tyres and as a newbie to off roading i really appreciate what iv learnt from you and your channel
Here in the States i currently have Toyo Open Country AT2's on my Jeep Wrangler and these tires are the best i have had so far. Did have BFG Mud-Terrain T/A KM2's which are great for off road, but wear quickly on road as daily driver.
Good point on the stiff sidewall. I was thinking I wanted something with a stiffer sidewall than my BFG Ko2 so they wouldn't sag under the weight of my camper as much, but now I'm seeing the flip side of it as well. Thanks
I have had a set of 295/65r20 MT. Had them for just over a year and put 12k miles on them. About 1/4 tread gone. Allot of payment driving. Rotated once at 7k. Perfect tire never stuck and not to loud on highway. Just recently I noticed the side lugs have a varying spacing. When turning tight on pavement at slow speeds it sounds like a zipper
MazeVX FPV mate I have a set of x3 285 70 17 on my bt 50 and so far have been brilliant. No mud driving yet but been good on gravel and excellent on the road. They are my first ever muddies and to me they are pretty quiet as well.
I have only just replaced my 285/75 /16 open country MT's with the same on my 80 series I only got 103k😁 out of them and they were severely punished with three four week trips one including the cape via the OTT and Frenchman's track towing a 1500kg camper trailer one of the other trips included Sturt's stony desert if one would like to test their tyres try that towing a camper, as for on road fantastic can not fault them. Nice review👍👌
i also have this on my disco 2. They are better then bfg km2. the bfg km2 wear out much faster. i have size 255-85-16. in europe the problem is that in the size 255-85-16 mud only 2 brands deliver this. Bfg and Toyo. And after years of driving on bfg I am happy that I made the switch to Toyo.
It’s a perfect size for overlanders actually. Around 33 inches tall and 10 inches wide. Less weight than the overused 285/75/16, while having the same clearance and better fuel economy. 265/75/16 is only a 32” btw
Great explanation @ronny dahl BTW what is your shockbreaker? OME, Toughdog, Ironman, Profender etc? Why you dont use badlock in your tire? I have Pajero Sport Dakar 2015 with Maxxis Bravo AT980
Ya, I thought BFG KM3's off the top of my head. I always like watching these videos because your not one of those guys pushing some brand or some company on people.

Kumho ROAD VENTURE MT KL71? They make them in that same size.
Also, totally different experience with Nitto Trailer Grapplers on my brothers Ford vs Toyos on my Ram 2500. His Nittos were much louder on the open road and wore out irregularly quick. My Toyo MTs are as about as quiet as some ATs I've used and have been wearing quite evenly and predictable. With a heavier truck like the Ram 2500 the stiff sidewalls are necessary, and I can run lower pressures.
Great vid as always Ronny & love seeing Molly as I have a Ridgeback as well (Ranger ;) over here in the states! I'm in between putting these, the Yoko MT 003's, or the KM3's on my Silverado. Of the 3, which would you run? Thanks!
BFG I'm sure , old mate from south Africa is running a set at the moment in the centre, they are looking like the goods , can't wait to fit a set, properly due for..
Have you noticed any reduced tire wear now that you've taken the canopy off the back? What was the "new" tire tread when you bought them? (16/32nds?) As opposed to what they are now (which looks about 11/32nds)
Thanks for the channel. Really enjoying it. I have a Hilux Sr5. I will be heading to the Kimberley and Cape Leveque in July (towing a camper trailer); doing the Holland track In August (swag). My tyres are nearly 4 years old ( on since new). Looking for an AT to replace the HT’s. Any recommendations are very welcome. Thanks.
Im running these in 32" on my 13 d22 navara, about 18k down & very happy with them, mud, gravel, sand, hartop, bang for buck, overall with the right pressure theyre awesome
I would have thought a stiff sidewall would be better on sand, as the area of tyre on the ground is the same (at a given pressure) so the patch on the ground would be longer, moving less sand.
Hi Ronny. I got same tire size on my 3300kg 75 troopy. Bff KM3. I'm thinking change them to 255/75/16 toyo. Fuel consumption, steering and bearings stredd are my concerns. Too thin or enough? All kinds of driving mainly
I have looked for content for the Hercules Terra Trac T/G Max and not found much just the company commercials i got a bit of a deal on them and have enjoyed them so far, would you think about using a tyre ;-) like that on your vehicle? love your videos and thanks Ronny, all the way from Canada.
Ronny didn’t mention (but you could see) how chip resistant these tyres are especially on the Pilbara/Kimberley rocks. I have the M55’s which are awesome. Toyo all the way. Mates Coopers has chunks out from same trip.
I think price should be part of your review. I know that there are more expensive tires than Toyos and there are cheaper ones as well. I think Toyo's are a good value. I have 35"x12.5"x17" on a 2012 Jeep JK and you are correct about the sidewall. Don't do much sand driving here but all the red clay and mud anyone would want. Yes, that was a fair review you gave and I would also recommend these tires. I don't have near the weight you carry but I can tell you that wet red clay is slippery. Doesn't matter what tire you have. My guess on your next set is Interco. If not, it should be.
At around 5:44 there's a short clip of what looks like recovering an off-rim tyre in the field by exploding gasoline (I assume) inside the tyre. I've heard of this technique but never seen it in action. Can anyone point to the video where it was discussed?
sounds like you going to go for the new unreleased BFG KM3 mud terrains :) am also very curious how the new km3's are going to be like, looks to be a really interesting tyre
I just gashed the sidewall on my Trxus m/t, and I mostly Offroad where I smash brush and small trees, cutting my own trails with a chainsaw and destroying every body panel on my Jeep. I need the toughest sidewall I can get. Is this tire going to do that? I don’t care about pavement with this vehicle, I only drive into town for gas and I go the speed limit or less.
Good as usual clip , plus watching made my decision for my next set easier. I drive on sand just as much as rocks so after watching your other clip on Maxxis and now Toyo I now know which ones I will buy , thanks

Have you tried Kumho KL71?
Only 2 tires I'd consider are STT Pro and the new KM3.

Beautiful Ridgeback. Wonderful dogs.
yeah, I was watching his dog every time it was in shot !!
Thanks for review Ronnie. I just (5000kms) fitted Toyos AT open country. Great tyres
would to see what toy think now of them
Good honest review, thanks Ronny

Greetings from the deserts of California! Excellent review...

I have the TOYO OPAT 2's awesome tyres, my last 2 sets have been Coopers and they are chalk & cheese.
ethicalfarmer
I have heard great news on the Toyo opat 2s
Good point on the stiff sidewall. I was thinking I wanted something with a stiffer sidewall than my BFG Ko2 so they wouldn't sag under the weight of my camper as much, but now I'm seeing the flip side of it as well. Thanks
Nitto Trail Grapplers are the best allround tyre, Maxxis Bighorn or razor for. Mud are epic.
yaaay, good to see the 'leap into shot' return, good job
BFG KM3s is my guess.
Something something Andrew St Pierre White mentioned the launch for those tires in his latest vid.
James Moore i agree
my guess also
I have had a set of 295/65r20 MT. Had them for just over a year and put 12k miles on them. About 1/4 tread gone. Allot of payment driving. Rotated once at 7k. Perfect tire never stuck and not to loud on highway.

top review Ronny, well done
I would love to see you try on the mickey thompson mtz p3 and make a review on it.
with smellovision and feelovision
Thanks Ronny for the review.
I love this Chaneel 😎. Greetings from Slovenia 🇸🇮
Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003? :D
I'm getting general grabber X3 next week, curious to see how they perform in the mud and dirt we have here. Nice video, thanks Ronny!
MazeVX FPV mate I have a set of x3 285 70 17 on my bt 50 and so far have been brilliant. No mud driving yet but been good on gravel and excellent on the road. They are my first ever muddies and to me they are pretty quiet as well.
BFG KM3 Muddies. Andrew from 4x Overland will be getting them as well!

We also have the Cooper ST Maxx available in that size. Not a mud tyre but a hybrid (50/50)
Change your size that is so odd. Go to a 265/76R16
It’s a perfect size for overlanders actually. Around 33 inches tall and 10 inches wide. Less weight than the overused 285/75/16, while having the same clearance and better fuel economy. 265/75/16 is only a 32” btw
the265/75/16 is not high enough for me. the 285/75/16 is to wide. Toyo 255/85/16 is perfect for me 33,5 inch or 85 cm high.
i would love to see the Maxxis Razr MT.
It's a Ridgy! I have one too. Awesome dogs!
Great explanation @ronny dahl
BTW what is your shockbreaker? OME, Toughdog, Ironman, Profender etc?
Why you dont use badlock in your tire?
I have Pajero Sport Dakar 2015 with Maxxis Bravo AT980
I'm getting mine on my 2018 ram 2500 tomorrow
I hope you try the new BFg KM3’s next
My guess is also BFG Km3.
What tyre would you then recommend for sand dune driving in the desert?
Nice Ridgeback. Thanks for the information.
My guess is the km3 by bfg
Ronny if you had to make the choice and buy the same brand of tyre for life which would it be …Straight up no beating about the bush
Would like to see you try out the Mickey Thompson MTZ P3's
Next tyre guess Nitto Ridge Grappler.
Well I'm waiting on them.
Me too! Actually I have them now, 20k, so far so good.
Maxim Tchernenko are you in Australia mate? They were supposed to be here end of last year.
No, I am from Canada.
Ya, I thought BFG KM3's off the top of my head. I always like watching these videos because your not one of those guys pushing some brand or some company on people.

With a heavier truck like the Ram 2500 the stiff sidewalls are necessary, and I can run lower pressures.
Do I want these or the Razer MTs? 🤔
My Open Country M/T’s wore prematurely due to worn out shock absorbers. I had to replace both the tires and the shock absorbers.
Dunlop Mud Rover!!! had them on my jeep, never let me down.
Great vid as always Ronny & love seeing Molly as I have a Ridgeback as well (Ranger ;) over here in the states! I'm in between putting these, the Yoko MT 003's, or the KM3's on my Silverado. Of the 3, which would you run? Thanks!
Haven't been released yet... either KM3s or Toyo RTs .... maybe?
Thank's again for another great video Ronny. Are these made in Japan ?
Its unbiased because theyre radials lol jk
😁
BFG I'm sure , old mate from south Africa is running a set at the moment in the centre, they are looking like the goods
, can't wait to fit a set, properly due for..
Sounds like you need some bead locks. Are they legal in Aus?
Have you noticed any reduced tire wear now that you've taken the canopy off the back? What was the "new" tire tread when you bought them? (16/32nds?) As opposed to what they are now (which looks about 11/32nds)
Nice one Ronnie. Hey, if you have 4+2 spare (6total) tires to rotate, what's the plan??
Thanks for the channel. Really enjoying it. I have a Hilux Sr5. I will be heading to the Kimberley and Cape Leveque in July (towing a camper trailer); doing the Holland track In August (swag). My tyres are nearly 4 years old ( on since new). Looking for an AT to replace the HT’s. Any recommendations are very welcome. Thanks.
I have read and heard a lot of good things about the Falken Wildpeak tyres. Maybe you should give the Falken Wildpeak M/Ts a go next?
My guess Ronny is the Nitto Ridge Grappler? Thats what is going on mine very soon!
Ronny, have you ever tested hankook dynapro mt03?
Offroad mostly mud&gravel almost no sand.
Paweł Młocek I’ve got them on my triton and there a great tyre but start to get noisy once they get down to 60% I would definitely get an other set 👍
Im running these in 32" on my 13 d22 navara, about 18k down & very happy with them, mud, gravel, sand, hartop, bang for buck, overall with the right pressure theyre awesome
Thanks. I've bought really narrow set for half price, but car is still in built so I don't know if it was a good deal. 215/85r16
When are the BFG km3’s being released in Australia
What do you think 🤔 about Nitto Ridge Grapplers A/T ??
I would have thought a stiff sidewall would be better on sand, as the area of tyre on the ground is the same (at a given pressure) so the patch on the ground would be longer, moving less sand.
Hi Ronny. I got same tire size on my 3300kg 75 troopy. Bff KM3. I'm thinking change them to 255/75/16 toyo. Fuel consumption, steering and bearings stredd are my concerns. Too thin or enough? All kinds of driving mainly
Hey Ronny have you ever ran hankook dynapros or do you plan to?
Should try Dynapro!!! Atm or mt
Is your next tire: bfgoodrich km3? And Hello from Canada
Hey Ronny, try the Falken AT3W for your next tires. Great hybrid tires that are aggressive. If you need MTs, get some Yokohama MT
Seen you twice in 1 week. . Might buy a lotto ticket
That would be a good comparison, these vs km3's
I have looked for content for the Hercules Terra Trac T/G Max and not found much just the company commercials i got a bit of a deal on them and have enjoyed them so far, would you think about using a tyre ;-) like that on your vehicle?
love your videos and thanks Ronny, all the way from Canada.
New tyres
Toyo Open Country R/T ?
Next tyre will be Nitto Ridge Grapplers?
Ronny didn’t mention (but you could see) how chip resistant these tyres are especially on the Pilbara/Kimberley rocks. I have the M55’s which are awesome. Toyo all the way. Mates Coopers has chunks out from same trip.
Hey Ronny keen to see another short wheelbase car on modified
I had a spare blow out in the sun when I took the vehicle out of action for 6 months. Tyre blew out at the top from constant sun
I think price should be part of your review. I know that there are more expensive tires than Toyos and there are cheaper ones as well. I think Toyo's are a good value. Doesn't matter what tire you have. My guess on your next set is Interco. If not, it should be.
I was thinking about but the price varies so much from place to place. In some cases 150-200 more or less
Thanks for the video
Instant like for the entrance. Lol
Do you guys get Cooper tyres over there? Cooper Discoverer stt pro's
mark douglas yeah we do I'm off to get some st maxx in about 30 min
Nice one
mark douglas coopers are shit. I worked at a tyre shop for 2 years and always repairing coopers. BFGs and these toyo mts are the best
Yep, had them, stabbed sidewall, wasnt replaced, i cired at the 470buck replacement haha
I've got the ST Maxx on my 200. Great aggressive A/T
At around 5:44 there's a short clip of what looks like recovering an off-rim tyre in the field by exploding gasoline (I assume) inside the tyre. I've heard of this technique but never seen it in action. Can anyone point to the video where it was discussed?
Try the kumho road venture m/t
Oooo....was hoping you'd test out the the beef general grabber x3's!!!
sounds like you going to go for the new unreleased BFG KM3 mud terrains :) am also very curious how the new km3's are going to be like, looks to be a really interesting tyre
Are you going to do a review how the patriot towed for 5000 ks?
sir what suspension brand you have in that LC?
I’d say you and ASP will be getting the New BFGoodrich muddies.
try running 10 psi. in your spare you will find less damage. i have a spare that is 4.5 years old and still looks new
Love your dog !
Sounds like your going Km3 next.
Can you get Treadwright tires in. Aus? Ive been hearing good reviews about them.
Please try some federal mt' s...
What better tires on sand show 285 or 265 ?
You should run what I do Archilles desert hawk XMT great Tyre
Can you get bead lockers on steelies?
Would love to see the x3 grabbers
Definitely KM3s next, good way to show them to the public
I just gashed the sidewall on my Trxus m/t, and I mostly Offroad where I smash brush and small trees, cutting my own trails with a chainsaw and destroying every body panel on my Jeep. I need the toughest sidewall I can get.
Is this tire going to do that? I don’t care about pavement with this vehicle, I only drive into town for gas and I go the speed limit or less.
BFG KO3
Got Toyo at3 on my lx570
You recommend using bead lock rims with those tires?
Yep if running sub 15 psi
Good as usual clip , plus watching made my decision for my next set easier. I drive on sand just as much as rocks so after watching your other clip on Maxxis and now Toyo I now know which ones I will buy , thanks
The new BFG'S
we love you ronnie
I have seen great reviews on the Cooper STT pro.
I reckon Mickey Thompson’s as they are coming out with a new compound
Why not a thinner tire?
