    Regardless of vehicle I use the same process. Remove plugs one cylinder at a time. When I removed the new plug from the box I repack the same box with the old plug. Right the cylinder # on the box. I can get the new plugs in then at my leisure I can inspect the old plugs and verify even burn and wear. If I do find one way off I can isolate to that particular cylinder.

    Checking gap even when supposedly out of the box is critical. Electrodes could have been knocked around and bumped in shipping.

      Yes, the gap is also 0.043 inches/1.1 mm, but the spark plug is different

    Hey EdBwoy, have you made a “tune up”’vid for the M35? Went thru your vids but might have missed it, thanks.

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, not for the M35. Maybe a good video on a G35 will touch on the most important bits for your M35 as far as the engine goes

    I hope youre not using those long shaft plugs for you q45, those fit the Qx4 ijs

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They also fit the VK45DE engines such as the m45, fx45 and q45*

    Aww Man Ed. I got the Felpro joints from last time you did a mention on valve covers, so you using the VR's. Which one do you like better. Do the VR's have the little locking grooves in them?!? And should I use gasket makers and how much and where should I place the gasket makers when doing the VC's

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use Victor most times. I bought Felpro because they were available at the time. The Felpro looks pretty in blue, but I've had to do a warranty return on them. I prefer Victor for quality.
      I don't use any RTV because the rubber gaskets hold themselves pretty well. Most people use a dab of it in the corners - the main purpose is to apply just enough to keep the gaskets in.
      I'd refer to the maintenance section of the service manual

    Any idea where to get spark plug wires?

  • @stephencannon3140
    @stephencannon3140 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is this procedure basically the same for the M35? Plugs might have slightly gap difference but most other parts should be fairly common for both engine for the most part right?

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There were a few differences in the engine but the plugs & procedure should be the same.
      The V6 offers a lot more space to work around the engine!

    Is that vehicle equipped with the VK45DE? And if so can I use the performance parts on my 03 FX45? BTW after much research I've come to the conclusion that my tiptronic is not rev matching because it's simply not offered in the 03... I've simply remedied it by just manually blipping the accelerator when downshifting. Thank you so much for your help

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, no problem. I remember our convo on tiptronic, can't remember where exactly we were talking about it. I'm glad you got your answers and have a workaround.
      And yes, the M45 uses the VK45DE engine as well. It depends on what performance items you have, but the M45 engine in 06 had a few differences from the 03/04 M45 engine. Similar to the engine changes done in the FX45, so your 03 FX might have very little transferable to the 06+ M... It depends on what parts specifically.

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what it is. For the frequency of changing PCV valves, I just buy the correct ones

    I'm averaging 70 miles to a quarter tank on my 2010 m35. Is that normal or do I need to do a "tune up" too😁

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fuel consumption seems a little high for the 7 speed trans, but. I reckon it's not that bad if your driving is mostly in city traffic.
      A better way to gauge your mileage is to average how many miles you cover ÷ how much fuel it takes to fill up. Do that a few times.
      And I don't think changing your plugs will give you any massive gain if everything else remains the same. Still a good thing to do though!

    • @andrek5533
      @andrek5533 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EdBwoy yea I've did that few times. Most of my driving is done on the local roads. Its about 13 miles each way to and from work. So far I got 224 mi from 3/4 tank.
