I love this JVC, Chunghwa tubes are fantastic, I have one in an Ikegami tm15-80r. Might even be the same one in the JVC. Hard to tell with the focus on your picture however. The only thing you have to keep in mind with these is the plastic frame, remote panel PCB are incredibly fragile. These ones especially need a lot of care when shipping. I've gotten 3 with a similar design that all had chassis damage and in the worst case, a snapped remote PCB.

I saw a 1750 in person and immediately wanted to get rid of my 1954q for it, so I did. Insanely beautiful monitor, and so much brighter than the Sony despite its use of a shadow mask
I think the quality on these is great. Definitely undervalued. I still prefer the aperture grille style screen on sony sets overall but the shadow mask has some benefits of it's own. 750 tvl is no joke it's definitely sharper than my 600tvl pvm.(1750cg vs 20m2 respectively)
Steve your video was prophetic. I just watched it yesterday and now I have a chance to get one of these monitors that is barely used and still in the original box. It doesn't have any input cards though. How much do you think would be a fair price? He came back with $400 Canadian, which is about $300 US. Thoughts?
That's a good deal if it's pretty much unused. Have you seen the screen turned on? I'd only pay that if I saw it tested. If it works then you can buy the RGB card for less than $100 from Jam on eBay and have a great monitor.
Great to see the continuation of JVC models Steve. I mean they do have excellent models that really are worth looking into for the consumers to buy in the 2nd hand market. Maybe in future videos, would you be interested on doing a personal ranking upload on what your favorite brands are bro? Anthony..
Nice video. Hey, can you briefly explain the primary differences (or reasons to choose one vs the other) between aperture grille and shadow mask for the different CRT's?
The colors are very rich and bright. But there is a problem - dark scenes remain dark. It feels like there isn't enough brightness. Is this a problem or can it be fixed?
Hi there, i know i am late to the party on this topic but i just came across a jvc 30 inch pro monitor recently and was wondering where to go for a remote with compatibility for my model. HV-M300vsu is the model number, ant ideas guys?
You need a downscaler for starters to downscale the PC to 240p... other than that you want an RGB or Component card and cables for the best quality video.
I've been talking with some people who have done this. It's a pretty detailed process. Unfortunately I don't own any N5's, but whenever I get one I'm going to try it.
I just purchased a JVC BM-H1310U. Are there any capacitors prone to fail in this unit? I can't find any repair vids on this monitor. The one I purchased is in full working condition. However, I would rather do a cap replacement than blow a tube. Anyone have any issues with this model?
Hey thanks for the tip about those new cards! I have five sweet JVCs but only one RGB card :-) (No need for them with my C64s though, as they only output s-video.)

@@NirnBootMod Two are currently in use, and the others are backups that I will use when the components in the currently used ones die, because they will die. Hey there, i hope you can read my comment. I was able to obtain a 21inch Sony PC monitor crt. mint condition. i used it for a little time and it was ok. But when i use it now it gives a small PoP sound ever 30seconds or 40 seconds. After using it for 20minutes the sound is gone. I was wondering what can cause something like this, im not planning on opening it because its dangerous and below the plastic is has a metal cage. (i already tried to degauss using the menu and it did nothing)
Sounds like a grounding issue. some kind of arc maybe. That's pretty risky to try and repair if you don't have a lot of experience. CRT manuals always say to give a Monitor 30 minutes to warm up before running tests, etc. I'd just let the monitor warm up for a little while before jumping on it and using it heavily. If it works good otherwise you may be okay to use as is.
I just got one of these but the picture is very dim. I have tried increasing the brightness but the colors just get washed out. Do you have any idea to what could be causing this?
I have one with a dim picture unless I turn brightness up almost all the way. I think there is a way to turn up the voltage manually kinda like how u can set water pressure from the main valve as well as the actual sink faucet. the monitor still has a very sharp and accurate picture. I have two both calibrated the same but the better one has brightness set at 0 and sometimes 1 depending on the room lighting. the old one is set around 50 if I remember correctly. these things run for a long time and can take quite a beating. I grew up being rough with unreliable tube tvs these monitors are a pleasure to use.
im from europe and i got the exactly jvc, the thing is the shipping for those card is expensive, i've rgb modded mine some months a go and the problem is the sync, a lot of times you will have distorsioned immage when there is too much white, or sometimes even when everything seems okay it just fail to sync, i used a scart socket and these things are shit...., i recommend cloning by hand the card with bnc connectors, you can clone yourself one for like 10 euros and you will not have any of these problems, and thats what im doing right now.
@@pabloxd1239 Well it depends on how you made the mod. If you're actually making it think the card is there, then I've actually never tried it (I always clone the IF-C01COMG instead), but on similar monitors, you simply just wire you current sync wire to the PCB where composite otherwise comes in, but then you'd manually need to force YS2 high for RGB.
@@martinhejnfelt6058 yeah i grounded 2 pins to make the monitor think there is a card, then with a little circuit i inject everything on the jungle chip
@@pabloxd1239 Yeah ok, well I guess if you simply move the sync wire, and remove the inline resistor (often a 30 Ohm) and inject at pin 18 on CN6005 (the same place you grounded the 2 pins most likely) instead, the sync signal will go through the same circuit as it normally will from the output of the IF-C01COMG card. So SYNC->75 Ohm to GND, and inline 0.1uF capacitor->CN6005 Pin 18

480p on a CRT is a gimmick anyway. As long as it does 240p & 480i you're good to go.
