    Thanks for this. Selling my PVM-14M2 and replacing it with a JVC TM-H150CG this Wednesday. I’ll need to wait for the BNC board to come in from the UK, but really looking forward to it!

      @@iShredStreets I didn't in the end! I wasn't happy with the JVC so sold that instead. Although I'm now down to just one PVM (20L4).

    These are a great line of pro monitors. Excellent image quality and typically much lower asking prices than comparable Sony pvms.

    another very interesting video.it isnt much particular use to me because i dont own a pvm, just a couple of consumer crt's, but a lot still translates to consumer crt's. i still learn a bit about maintaining and fixing these beautiful machines. your content is probably very valuable in the future for enthusiast since a lot of the old school repair guys are retiring. around where i live just about every repairshop that fixed crts has been closed down in the last 10/15 years and you cant really find people with the knowledge, expertice and equipement anymore

    Thank you so much Steve! This is the third video you have done showing how to calibrate a monitor I own. It is so useful! I had to look high and low it seems before I found this information when I did this to mine. Now it's right here! I have a video on this monitor, and I purchased the JVC RGB card, before the one you have was made available! 200$ versus 70$ but no biggie. It's nice to have official products as well. You do so much for the community and I want you to know that I appreciate it! Thanks Brother!

Thanks a lot, I've seen a lot of videos in your channel lately while trying to find a good monitor, had the chance to get this one and your videos convinced me to buy it. I picked up a Panasonic BT-H1490YN a few weeks ago for next to nothing and it's got the same menu system. I've noticed that the regular menu, has options for size and position for the RGB inputs, so it can be calibrated for RGB and composite/S-video and get a good compromise for both. The option only shows when fed RGB.

      That's interesting. Thanks for letting me know. Most PVMs and other monitors don't have separate calibration settings for each input.

    Wish you did one on a consumer crt like a I’art or DSeries. Jvc on the consumer side is really limited on the service menu. And how to adjust the yolk. On mine they sealed the nut with epoxy and cant get it out to adjust.

    Hello. I have the H1750CG and when I press menu and contrast I can get into the hidden menu but there’s no adjustment for changing the picture other than x / y positioning. Is there another video or does this model not support that kind of adjustment?

    Was hoping this may shed some light on how to correct the geometery on my D-Series (AV27D104). But of course the consumer set has less service menu options than the pro set. Turns out I can only adjust horizontal position but not h size or anything else. All my adjustments are limited to the vertical settings.
    Forgive me for not knowing the terminology but it seems I have either a slight trapezoid distortion or a slight S pincushion distortion? Basically there is underscan on the upper right, upper left, and lower left edges of my screen. I can push the h position to the left and then the underscan on the left goes out of frame, but on the top right it gets worse. And vice versa. There is no middle ground where none of it shows. I just wanna push those flaws out of the way by overscaning them on both sides but I caaaant since the horizontal size is locked.

  • @Cathode_Days
    @Cathode_Days 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I find that when I try to overscan this monitor, it begins to pincushion if you try and go past a certain point. The geometry is otherwise more or less fine. Have you ever seen this issue?

    I have a 1750cg in pretty good shape, really like it. However if I try to increase the horizontal size to about where you got it I get this pincushion effect where the top and bottom continue to widen but the middle edges will not exceed a certain point (about a cm from the screen edge). Therefore I need to keep it underscanned a bit more than I'd like. Do u no what would cause this? Possibly a cap issue? Everything else seems to be operating correctly.

    • @RetroTechUSA
      @RetroTechUSA  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like it is more than likely a cap issue.

    • @karld4737
      @karld4737 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RetroTechUSA ok thanks, I kinda figured. It doesn't bother me much now so not a priority at this point. I think I over exaggerated a bit too as it's more like a half a cm from the sides. So it's definitely ok as is being a bit underscanned for now.
