- Revelation 2-3 reveals what Christ said to the seven churches, a select group representing all early believers. His message to them speaks across the centuries to us today.
Seven Messages, Seven Applications:
But Only One Acceptable Response
Each church has a distinct message that resonated with those who first heard these words and with us today.
• Ephesus, the careless church, left their first love. Christ said to them and us, “Come back to Me!”
• Smyrna, the crowned church, suffered persecution. Christ said to them and us, “Be faithful to the end!”
• Pergamos, the compromising church, tolerated evil. Christ said to them and us, “Separate yourselves!”
• Thyatira, the corrupted church, joined the world. Christ said to them and us, “Un-Friend the world!”
• Sardis, the feeble church, wasn’t on guard. Christ said to them and us, “Wake up before it is too late!”
• Philadelphia, the faithful church, was pleasing to God. Christ said to them and us, “Keep on keeping on!”
• Laodicea, the foolish church, needed nothing. Christ said to them and us, “Watch out, you’re making me sick; and I will vomit you out of my mouth unless you repent and see that you need Me!”
Jesus reports that what is needed is for them to repent of their apathy in seeking Him; and start whatever it took to get restored.
What exactly is Jesus pointing at in their lives when He issues this “Vomit Alert” to them? If we unpack this passage word by word, we can conclude that there are:
Seven Bad Habits of Believers
That Sicken Christ
v. 14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works” Jesus said.
They had cultivated some very bad habits. These are habits that made them unacceptable to Christ and, even worse, sickening to Him. What patterns in the life of a believer sickens Christ to the point of vomiting? Here are the seven Jesus notes:

DeanDennis God can immediately set you free from alcohol. You must SUBMIT to Him and ask Him to save you. You must realize that you are completely helpless to change and He will deliver you. He did that for me!!!!
Instant deliverance doesn't happen for everyone and I can't say whether it's because they didn't submit correctly or if the Lord has some other reason in mind. I keep going back to Paul pleading with the Lord, three times I asked for this thorn in my flesh to be taken from me and three times I'm told My Grace is sufficient for you.....keep going. Praying for you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth that you come to complete healing and deliverance from your struggles and pains. In Jesus name.

Wooow what best preaching is it?. I'm from Ethiopia I now that as Christianity came from Europe to Africa . But currently i see a lot of antichrist movements are coming from Europe i don't think there is such a best preaching. I thanks my God about you my beloved paster it's a kind of preaching which lead can reshape all christian those living in bad habits which are hated by our savior Jesus Christ.

There is a complete distinction between those who 'say' they are a Christian and those who really believe. RELIGIOUS observers simply follow religious ways - such as I was born into a Christian family.. A trueq believer will sin, and aim to change. Its called sanctifiaction. We walk, and change all of our life. ANY PERSON who BELIEVES - IN - Jesus, IS SEALED by the Holy Spirit as a GUARANTEE of their inheritance. 1 Ephesians 1 13-14. A true believer is saved for eternity.
"But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin." (1 John 1:7).

What Jesus is alluding to here is that each and every church that congregates under his name and his crucifixion...and who gather people together by their desire to serve righteousness, will each be divided into seven groups. Everyone within that church will be a member of one of those seven sections. Some will be a member of a church because of their desire to understand Jesus and serve him. Others might find the church as a good provider of a custom base for their merchandise...others will have one of those seven motivations, deteriorating step by step, to the cut off point. Let's hope, pray, and serve our Deity so that regardless of which church we attend we aren't found in that final section of our church that is vomited out of Jesus' mouth.

Thank you father 4 opening my eyes & ears. Been to jail countless times , collected $$$ for the mob ( family members in it 🙄) hurt a lot of people. Lived a life of sin. I had absolutely crippling, anxiety and depression. Turned to drugs to stop the anxiety. Made it 10x worse. I trying everything u can think of to stop it. In the 1st week of turning my life over to god , an preying to him every day. I couldn’t believe the level of my happiness I was experiencing. An Anxiety barely shows up anymore 🙏. I couldn’t believe I could have this life ; after everything I did. So ashamed of what I did. I have a beautiful family and regular life now. Thank u father 🙏.

Not by coincidence, the water at Laodicea was lukewarm and alkaline. If you drank it your stomach would reject it straight away
I stopped doing drugs. I stopped smoking pot. I have no lust. I don't break the 10 commandments. But I can't seem to stop cigarettes. Am I headed to hell for this one bad habit? I pray for his help every day.

Nearly 50 years ago a horrible alcoholic sober @15 years had quit smoking, I hadn't yet, told me booze was a cakewalk compared to tobacco. You know they cure tobacco in a drug bath? That's why the FDA regulates it. It's okay as long as they get their tax money 🤑🤬
Just keep telling yourself you're going to be one of those people that do not smoke anymore.
Keep saying how filthy dirty and stinking that habit is please don't wait till it's too late and you're on oxygen. Last year a man here was on oxygen and he was still smoking cigarettes and ended up blowing his self up.
Always remember With God all things is possible and I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me

Our Lord tells us not to do drugs, drink alcohol or do any man made drugs. He does not tell us not to smoke tobacco, or pot. As a matter of fact He tells us that all the herbs on this earth are for our use. He tells us , not to overuse these herbs. That is where the sin comes from. These herbs were even used in Old Testament times and will be used till the end of days. Remember He says do not over indulge in anything that can alter your judgement. I have studied the Holy Bible for over fourty years and nowhere does it say not to use pot or tobacco, those herbs are a gift from God to be used as to help our bodies. But be ware, the poison that is used to grow tobacco and pot made by man is a dangerous thing to mess with. The insecticides are the problem. Grow your own without all the addictive insecticides and you will be safe. But be ware of overdoing anything to where you loose your sinces and your ability to make proper decisions. That is a sin.

Is smoking cigarettes a sin😢
When I have a question "is this a sin" that is not directly addressed in scripture I ask my self the following: Can I image in the apostles and Jesus sitting around listening to Him teach while smoking cigarettes? No? Then it is probably something I shouldn't be doing. How does smoking bring glory to God and Christ? How does the world view smokers? Do they tend to view smokers as Christians or assume they probably are not Christians? If you are asking if this activity is a sin are you looking for someone to tell you it is ok to do it? Just the fact the question came up in your heart is great evidence it is something the Holy Spirit is asking you to stop.
@@brendaclark6485i think the point is, or atleast should have been, of the question; will it send you to Hell? I think that is what a lot of Christians ask themselves of things not directly addressed in the Scriptures.

I think since our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirt (God) we are to respect and honor this temple like Jesus did. We are to be holy as Christ is holy. I think we are to NOT do things to this temple that destroys it. To me, drinking, drugs, smoking, gluttony would be some that would fall into that category.

I drink alcohol from time to time. I do not believe, I am sinful. Considering wine is mentioned many times.
Anything in excess. Food as well. Stay sober. A glass of wine or bottle of beer is okay. A tiny sip of hard liquor, I do. My dad was alcoholic so I am very very careful
The lukewarm ARE NOT Christians. They claim to be but are not proven by their actions. The Lord DOES NOT vomit out His children. This church is a church in name only. 1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Let us not be fooled! We do not want to be one of those who will be turned away on that day when men stand before God. The way is narrow, and the road is straight, and FEW be that find it.

Our sin has set us all on the road to hell and no amount of good will fix the sin we have done. We have ALL sinned. It is not about the type of sin or how much sin. It is about the fact that we have sinned. For that reason we all need a Savior.
If we want forgiveness for our sin and peace with God. If we want to escape eternal hell. If we want to go to heaven we must understand the following. We DO NOT get saved (go to heaven), get right with God, forgiven, by being good, by being religious, by just believing in God, by praying a prayer, being baptized, asking or accepting Jesus into our hearts, accepting Jesus as our personal Saviour, confessing our sins, joining a church, cleaning up our lives, doing penance, taking the bread and the wine, or doing all these things accumulative.
Salvation is a gift that is given to those who repent and come to faith. Eph. 2:8,9
Salvation takes repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Acts 20:21. testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Make no mistake. We cannot be a friend of Christ and remain a rebel against God and unless we repent we remain a rebel. The word repent, from the Greek word “metanoia”, means a change of mind or direction.
God is not receiving those who almost or kind of repents. It is like the word About-face which is a 180 degree turn. We turn from not wanting God fully in our lives to willfully surrendering to Him to lead our lives.
When any person comes to the place where they are broken over their sin toward God to the point that they want to get right with God no matter what it will cost them they are in a state/spirit of repentance toward God. Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. The repentant heart would walk away from anything or any one to get right with God.
We then take that willing repentant heart we have towards God and place it on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Master, because He paid the price for our sin, and that becomes faith. At that moment God’s grace through Christ is freely applied to us and we are born again, saved from eternal hell and sealed by the Spirit so that we will never again return to the practice of sinning. 1John 3:9,10.
Our first command after salvation is to be baptized.
Repentance of sin is the result of the new birth/salvation and will be part of the sanctification process and our new life with the Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 2:10. While we may sin from time to time after salvation it will never again be our practice 2Cor. 5:17, 1John 3:9,10.
John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
REV. 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
It all boils down to are we sorry/broken enough over our sins against God and do we want to get our hearts right with Him or not. Let us be sure that tomorrow does not belong to us.

Of course he’s talking about Christians . Christians can and do backslide , or even grow cold through laziness and carelessness. King David for example fathered an illegitimate child , committed adultery and had his love rival murdered- you think this all happened in the space of a week . He was backsliden for at least a year maybe more . Do you know Christians who don’t share their faith ? Lukewarm.
Jesus is warning us that this is unacceptable behaviour for a blood bought child of God .
This is very close to "Lordship Salvation"/performance required???
The Lordship salvation accusation is simply an excuse for easy believism and carnal Christianity. If you are a Christian Jesus should be your very life . We don’t love him perfectly, but it should be the goal of every Christian.

Yes, Jesus does require us to do his word. Sounds like you need to reread the bible and toss your easy believism and carnality out with the old man, for this God is our helper.

I know I'm jumping in cold here, but perhaps this answers your question?
John 15 - We can do nothing unless we abide in the Vine. So abiding is a "work" in a loose sense.
Romans 11 - If you become stagnant, unfruitful, and disbelieving, God can cut you off from the Root.
Hebrews 6 - If someone has once tasted of the heavenly gift, has been enlightened, and has shared in the Holy Spirit, but then falls away by rejecting Christ and putting him up to open shame (quite a dramatic apostasy), it is impossible to restore that one to repentance.
Hebrews 4 - Strive to enter that rest.
Philippians 2:12-13 - ... work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
James 2:24 - We are not justified by faith alone.
Obviously this requires balance, because we certainly can't merit our own righteousness, and it can only by grace through faith that we are saved (Eph 2:8). It is a free gift of God, lest any man should boast. We absolutely need the Holy Spirit's help to do anything that is truly pleasing to God, and Christ is the one who cleanses and sanctifies us.
In your passage in Luke, these are the works the tax collector did: "He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said..." and then Jesus indicates that he "humbled himself." Those are works in the sense of things that he did, but not works in order to merit righteousness or to boast in himself. Not works of the law, but works of a living faith.
John 6:28-29: What does it mean to believe in Jesus? Trust. By trusting someone, you will act (do things, or not do things) in a way that you would not have otherwise. You will not try to gain your own righteousness. In faith, you will NOT do works to gain righteousness, but rather, your works will come from love. But that doesn't mean you're a spiritual vegetable that says "you do all my work, Lord." God won't trust in Himself for you.
I'm sure that's not what your saying, but hopefully that brings clarification. God bless you brother. I've lately been leaning hard into Psalm 51. Recently did some things that have required confession and repentance, but that does not put my salvation in question, because Jesus does not condemn me, but will cleanse me, as He has been doing, and I trust He's doing that in you too!

He did not say that God/Jesus Christ would literally vomit but he used as an example. Although it does say that in verse 16 I took that as spewing the line warm out as if He never knew us. Take this seriously people!

I don’t mean to be rude…. 7minutes and 22 seconds into this video, I’m anxiously waiting for this guy to get to the point. Instead I hear word regurgitation salad. I become so incensed I can’t even stand it. I want to hear the message not some verbiage that goes on forever and ever and ever and ever. It’s no wonder why I can’t even watch stuff like this on TH-cam. I want to, but I can’t. I possess a driver (get to the point personality) with a back up expressive personality, which means that I don’t mince words and say what’s on my mind. Just absolutely frustrating. Not everyone is the same
That's why there are many different flavors of preachers.
But the important thing is that they preach the gospel.
All true preachers are seed spreaders, concentrate on the seed, not the sower.
