SAMSON SUFFERED THE LOSS OF HEAVENLY REWARDS & JESUS ASKS--WILL THAT HAPPEN TO YOU?

  • All of us in Christ's Church are called from darkness to light at salvation, and we are saved from the power of Satan and transformed into saints of God. That process is called consecration. Last week, as we looked at the Church at Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29), we saw that their consecrated lives were slipping because of compromise with sin and false doctrine.
Jesus called them to repent, to have a change of mind that would lead to a change in behavior. The letter to Thyatira is a challenge from Christ for His children of faith to do what is needed: repent of compromising their lives of sanctification.
Paul describes the deadly result of a compromised life. Please open to I Corinthians 3:15, where Paul warns all believers about the danger of getting to Heaven empty-handed and what it means to suffer loss. In other words:
    Don’t Get to Heaven
    Empty Handed & Suffering Loss
    I Corinthians 3:15
Please stand with me and listen to this one verse from God, through Paul, to each of us who will listen.
1 Corinthians 3:15 (NKJV): If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he will be saved, yet so as through fire.
This morning, God's Word uses a well-known person from the Bible to portray this description of being saved, yet so as by fire. This person is Samson, who powerfully illustrates Christ's warning to Thyatira. The Scriptural biography of Samson teaches believers about suffering the loss that comes from a compromised life,
First, Samson is a believer, a servant of God, but one who was saved by fire and suffered loss. The New Testament tells us so in Hebrews 11:32.
Next, we can classify Samson's struggles as chastening because the Lord always chastens those who are really His, as Hebrews 12:1-11 clearly teaches.
Finally, we know Samson suffered loss because Paul warns us so hauntingly in I Corinthians 3:15 that this happens to anyone who lives a compromised life like Samson.
Samson is a powerful reminder of God’s grace. Though he descended into the depths of a lust-filled life, wandering far from his calling and neglecting his consecration, the Lord never let go of him.
His soiled life is recorded. His defeats are unvarnished and clear for all to see. But against the backdrop of sin is the beauty of grace. God forgives, God restores, and God uses Samson one final time. But the warning from the Scriptures is:
Samson Shows Us How He Got to Heaven
    Empty Handed & Suffering Loss

Please pray for me to quit the smoking of cigarettes.. I do love the Lord so much but at the same time I am struggling with this horrible & deadly addiction. I don’t want it to make me question my Love for my Jesus but sadly there have been times that it does.😢 & I hate that feeling.. please also pray for my precious Grandchildren & children & sister to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ & His shedding of His precious blood for “ All” of us. Thank you Dr. Barnette for this wonderful teaching as they all are.. Thank you everyone..🙏❤️

Praying. I gave up cigarettes over 20 years ago after someone invited me to a healing service. I had multiple people laying hands on me while praying. I prayed, too, and felt warmth. The next day, I smoked 1 1/2 cigarettes and didn't smoke any more. I still had cravings but not the physical withdrawal symptoms I had from previous unsuccessful attempts. I was able to withstand those cravings until I had no desire to smoke another cigarette. Praise and thanks to God! Praying for you and your family.🙏❤

Wow. This was a mighty message. I am convicted by all the compromises in my life. I am grateful that the Lord Jesus still intercedes for me and that the Father loves me enough to chasten me as a son. I pray to take my sin as seriously as God takes it. I'm overwhelmed by His grace and mercy and know I am unworthy of them.

I married young and never bothered asking about her religion. I found out that she was a devil worshipper. Yes, im a Christian married to a devil worshipper. We are polar opposites in that sense but I dont let that get in the way of our marriage and it actually has made my faith stronger because im always trying to convert her to Christianity, and ive also seen first hand the power of her religion as well. I never believed that devil worship would yield anything before that but never once have I wanted to practice her faith because I know how that will end. I was scared that I would be damned to hell at first but the Bible says that if I follow God I wont go to hell. Im living proof it can work

God the Father chastens out of love as a father. Disobedience can frequently be the reason but for sincere disciples such as the apostle Paul, it is to forge their souls to greater maturity, to be perfected in suffering as His Son was on the cross (Heb2:10).
    Heb2:10
"For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings."
The apostle Paul says this suffering produces in the soul an eternal weight of glory in 2Cor4:16-17. And in Phil3 he declared his life goal is to suffer and die just like Christ.
Heb12:6 and Rev3:19 share a same theme: God love is a tough love.
    Heb12:6
"For whom the Lord (God the Father) loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth."
    Rev3:19
"As many as I (Jesus) love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent."

Love is blind and marriage is the eye opener. So many of us get married with the concept of living with the love of your life and assuming you are on an even basis with your partner. So the commitment is there , shared rent in the highest rent in Canada is there, love is not there in any real way. I look at other family units that are not believers and they actually love each other? So I envy / covet that kind of relationship but just do not attain it.

When anyone dies, they dont go to heaven nor do they go to hell. They are buried awaiting the resurrection. The living know that they will die, the dead know nothing.(Psalm 146:4) There is only one person that is alive today from the grave, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 11:13) These all died having NOT recieved the promises. Also Acts 2:29 tells us that King David is still in his grave . Why would there need to be a resurection of the dead if they were already in heaven alive with God.? The word hell is from gehenna, a literal place in Jerusalem where they burnt refuse and dead criminalsin the New testament and hades , or the grave, the abode of the dead, the unseen and sheol in the old covenant is the place of the dead, the grave. Thje word hell is from mhythology in Pagan religions, where people were said to go to be tortured for being a bad person.Or to scare the hell out of them😏

Billygoat, fitting handle. And your wrong. Do you even bother listening & learning from these teachings?! Paul said " To be absent from the body is to be with the Lord." Jesus is in Heaven bud. We instantly join him at physical death. ( Spirit & soul) and we get our NEW resurrected bodies at the rapture.

For one thing no man has ascended to Heaven. The second thing is we don't get a bucket of goodies when we die. We have eternal life what more do you want?
    John 3:13
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
    Acts 2:34
For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand

@@JerrythePope yes, and Jesus gave us His pure word. Scripture references death to “sleep” 53 times in scripture including the time Jesus resurrected Lazarus. Jesus called His death a sleep. When the disciples thought He spoke of sleep in rest, Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.” Hence a RESURRECTION was necessary to bring Him back to life.

No, Samson did not go to heaven, the Bible clearly states he sleeps in the grave, and slept with his fathers.
