Thumbs up for sure!!! I have a Sony KDF-50E2000. My son bought it for $50. Bottom left, front of the screen had a window which told me the projection lamb was at the end of its useful life. Change it! OK. Watched this video, bought a new projection lamp off Amazon for $19 + tax. Got it in two days. Installed it in less than 5 minutes!!! The only difference with my TV, the projection lamp is on the left side. Great video!!!

I have the Sony KDF 50E2000, identical lamp and replacement process - I thought about buying the newest 65 inch flat screen, but after watching your video - spending $24 for a new lamp& housing is the efficient way to go. The TV is still in excellent condition, and 50 inch is big enough.
Your instruction was spot on. The only thing you forgot was the need for (2) Knuckle Bandages for removing stubborn light cartridges. Thanks, you saved me a bundle!

ATTENTION PEOPLE!!!! Make sure 100% that the lamp is in place or it will not work. It took me 3-5 tries until I got it in place, almost assume that the lamp replacement was bad.

Thanks for the help! It is really appreciated. Just replaced my lamp and to answer some of the questions below... I also got the RED lamp. This indicates that the lamp itself is not installed correctly and/or the cover but most likely it's your lamp. I had to take the lamp in and out several times to get it to seat properly but once it was secured it worked great.
Thanks !! My bulb was still working but the picture had noticibly dimmed over the years. replaced the bulb for 39.00 and it's like a new TV !!!

I have the same TV as is the video. At least they look exactly the same. Anyway, when I went to do the final step to program the new TV lamp, I didn't have that option. Either way it worked. Great video. Thank you for posting this. Goes to show how simple some electronics are to replace or repair. I have the same TV and I get the warning on the screen my bulb is near the end of it's life. Good to know how I can repair this myself in about 5 minutes!

I had the same problem with me Sony WEGA KDF E42A10: green blinking lights and then a repetitive 3 red blink cycle. I pulled the light out like he shows in the video, noticed the clear lens was a bit foggy, spit on it and cleaned of the foggy layer on both sides, popped it back in and my TV started up immediately. All of a 5 minute repair. Best part is I found the TV on the side of the road when moving into my new apartment.

Good video. Where you say "it takes a while" while inserting the bulb (with housing), it takes me about two seconds. I simply lift the handle as I'm inserting the bulb to make it easier to seat quickly. In this method there is no "click", but once releasing the handle you'll know it's seated if you can't easily pull it out ( while pulling the handle straight toward you, without lifting the handle).
Make sure you put BOTH covers back on. If you leave the inside cover off the TV will not work.

Good Video, One suggestion is the lamp housing and fan is cleaned of dust, as this will help keep the lamp cool. Otherwise lamplife will be shortened.

So i bought the same tv from a nieghbor for a 100 dollars she old n wanted it out of her house n i needed a tv for my studio only problem was of course the bulb situation so i ordered it from amozon after seeing this video seems easy but I'm not paying her until i see the screen come to life should be getting it in the mail any day now will give an update on how it went thanks for the video helped a lot

After you replace the bulb you need to go to MENU > SETTINGS > SETUP > LAMP REPLACEMENT > START > YES to reset the timer for your lamp on your tv.
Can this be done without the original remote

Great video tutorial. I was told by a tech that there is more than 1 bulb in these televisions. He said they have three is this true and if so where are the other bulbs located?
very helpful. i would also add, if your lamp went goes out and you already have one handy to replace. let your TV cool down for at least 30 minutes before trying to replace. you could damage the tv or the new lamp.
I suggest you to check the lamp door/cover(internal) to make sure its correctly locked in position. This may be the problem since the lamp door/cover has a sensor to ensure its locked in position.

I had to rig the door so it stayed closed by driving a small wedge in it... Not it works just fine

I saw your commercial on the youtube how to replace a lamp , and the model I got is KF-50XBR800 , not the same you show on your commercial. . So that I had take off the hold panel in the back of the tv..

Video was great...complete all steps..however with the new bulb installed I now have a faint green line going across the screen...was not there with old bulb...any ideas what's happening or how to correct.
this was very helpful. my problem on this tv is a blue star burst circle that covers from top to bottom. and the screen is hard to see in day time. the star burst is behind the picture and shows up more on night time scenes. do you have an answer?

Where would I find my model number for my Sony Wega 3LCD TV?
Would it be somewhere on the back of the TV?
I bought one from someone and did not get a manual.
Saturn E the model # should be somewhere on the front of the tv or on the rear where the manufactured date is.
I have a 50 inch element TV that is and led, is the process the same for those types of Tv's. I have had it only 1year and 2 months... Horrible right.
Yes I did buy it on eBay and the vendor name is "discounttvlamps" and I bought it for $95.65 + 28.38 shipping = $124.03 CAD. Note, I bought it a year ago when I made this video. I had no problems with lamp as of now and its working great!
I have the same tv as you but my picture is not sharp its a bit fuzzy I have a new bulb in it so its not that, im thinking the inside lenses or projector needs clean can you do a tutorial for that or is there anything else I can do to fix the picture quality, cheers in advance.

Hello, thanks for this video it is great. question! i did everything you show on here but mine stills tells me it is incorrectly installed, you know, the 3 consecutive red flashes on the power button. Is there something i am doing wrong???? is there a trick for the lamp to fit there? is there a sensor or something like that? It feels like it is in there correctly but it still not working. thanks!
I know there are a lot of people with this issue: I was having the problem of getting the bulb in place then putting the doors in and turning on the tv, but then the light would blink red again. I figured out that there is a sensor in the inner door that if not triggered would not allow the TV to turn on. I ended up putting a small wedge (a metal wall hanger) to keep the door snug and now it works great.

Prior to the point where the flashing indicator occurs where the bulb has died, does the screen during dark scenes in a DVD or a tv program have blue splotches appearing across the screen?
