Thanks for having me on Jay! Had a blast 🚀
Thanks for doing it! Hope you’ll come back again someday.
This is one of the better TH-cam advice videos I’ve seen in a while.
where can we get the thumbnail hall of fame?
Great idea with the white background ❤😊
Always great to hear your take on this kinda stuff! I like that late night host comparison!
Hey, thanks for the shoutout. Glad I could help you with your Drywall Skim Coating. That's why I do this. Heard about this shoutout from my Editor in the Philippines, lol.
SO COOL that you saw this! We’ve learned a lot from you - thanks for the great videos!
@@CreatorScienceYT my pleasure!
Jay's TH-cam channel is quickly becoming a 'go-to' for creator education for me. Banger after banger, so much value... thanks!
I appreciate that! thank you Rory!
Right?
100% agree!
Jon seems to look at TH-cam as an equation instead of an art. There is a ton of valuable technical advice here but it's missing creative encouragement. Make things that you are passionate about, not just what will rank #1 to your audience or get views. Prioritizing "what works" over what makes you happy can lead to creative burnout. The road to success on TH-cam is a long one so make sure you are choosing a process that you enjoy and can maintain for years. Nonetheless, thanks for the thoughtful conversation guys!
great point Andrew! Both are important. If I wanted to purely focus on the "equation" side of creation, I would've been a mathematician ; ) Creating art that makes you happy is important but so is finding a way to do it sustainably if you to do it as a career on TH-cam. Most people know the former yet struggle with the latter. Hence why I try to focus my answers on that.
It's all about finding a balance or intersection between the 2.
Yes both are are not exclusive. Creativity +formula that works = $$$. I would argue that is the ultimate goal for 99.9% of creators.
Well said
This video just stopped me from creating a new channel. I will just add VARIETY to my current one. Makes so much sense now and thank you!
Boom! Glad we could help!
But the key note is to stick to the niche whilst you vary the content style as it is said, "marry your niche but vary your format "
@@memorisequran114 Indeed. Thank you.
Jay & Jon this is a fantastic interview, great questions, Jon is an excellent guest. A caln and cerebral analysis! Thank you so much. Love both your channels.
I love how he finish by saying if you're older you have a lot to bring on TH-cam.. Makes me feel more confident starting my new channel. Thanks.. great interview and insight.
stumbled on this jewel of a channel today. Thank you Jay & Jon.
Best advice is to give your subscribers what they want. It's just like running business, and you see business owner gives their customers what they want. Starting and growing channel can be the tough part, but consistency and hard work (with a little bit of famester of course) can help a lot. It certainly helps massively to take off your channel and pretty much you don't have to worry about algorithms again.
I agree with everything you said. Also Famester seems like a really great service if you have troubles getting popular.
“Don’t give the crowd what they want. If they knew what they wanted, they would be on stage.” The longest lasting creators are NOT pandering to their audience of peasants.
Says the guy with 17 subs.
Famester bot LOL
This was so well done and really great insights! We just hit 200,000 subscribers and LOVE this advice. Thanks ❤
One of your videos somehow emerged in my algorithm, and I'm so glad it. I watched a few videos and instantly subscribed. This particular video was incredibly validating. I'm a professional/ clinician with 15 yrs of mental health experience. I decided I wanted to strategically enter into the social media field, and I've my niche idea. However, I was apprehensive as I don't have the technical skills of editing, etc and social media marketing skills/strategies. But after watching this video, I feel more confident and excited! Great channel 👏🏼 👍!
Another FREE MasterClass!!! Thank you so much Jay!! Bless you.. Looking forward for more Masterclass! 🎉🎉
This is fantastic, and a good motivator. I loved the talk of older people bringing their knowledge to TH-cam! I’m in my late 60s and currently editing the first four videos for my channel, which uses knowledge from my IT career.
I couldn’t sleep and I’m so glad I saw this recommended!
Jon is the goat! Learned alot about TH-cam video making over the past month.
Glad you enjoyed it!
YES I LOVE the stomping and clapping music at the beginning of your video! It’s so unique and attractive!
Great insights, thumbnail hall of fame and 1st frame as well as polling and trying formats 5 times are awesome tips, thanks 🎉😊
It's weird, I feel like there are a lot of things I technically "know" about TH-cam, but sometimes just hearing it again from someone different suddenly gives me the kick to make me actually start implementing it
I know that feeling!
omg I was just thinking the same thing lol
Fantastic interview full of tremendous value. Well done. Thank you both! 💖💖💖
This was an amazing interview! Really good for creators that want to turn their passion into a career, thank you for sharing :)
Great interview. Jon explains everything so well.
Man This video is awesome and I truly believe that if you follow his advice we will all watch you rocket off into the sunset! Good Luck N GOD Bless You n Yours
Hi Jay, just came across your channel because I saw this video on the recommended tab. Thank you for doing these videos, they're super helpful and I hope you'll continue to grow exponentially. One thing if I can suggest, at 0:28, where it says Today You'll Learn, I think you should change the look of that screen a bit. Having a bit of a design background myself, the blue color is often seen as a color for trustworthiness, that's why a lot of companies like banks use them. However not modernizing it will make it feel a bit old school and corporate-like. I think it might be the gradient that comes with the blue background and static transitions of the lines, in combination with the "Today You'll Learn" title, it makes it feel like you were reading off a powerpoint slide. While the rest of your video is very high-quality and has amazing edits, I think that art, being in the first 30s to 1min of the video is rather important. Just a thought and it might be just me! Again thank you for your videos and I'll be watching many more❤️
Hi, I find a lot of value reading the comments from good video like this one and I like your comment enough to simply say G’day from Western Australia 🇦🇺🤝🏻
Fun interview. I really like the insight to what changes are coming.
With the scouts years ago...they all said to use Facebook....but they all left for the next best thing. Facebook was embraced by business owners.
The way TH-cam is stepping up via the professionals making more educational videos is interesting history in the making.
This video is a gem for content creators! Amazing insights and love how you structured this interview 👏
Man what a great video. I know people say it all the time but there is just no way this channel doesn't blow up. Thanks Jay!
.....its just a long fuse......but it has been lit.
Looks like another good one Jay. I had to save it to watch later because I am about to teach my university students. Catch this one later.
Very awesome video bro keep posting like these kind of information videos. And friends don't give up. Consistency is the key to successso keep on trying one day you will succeed.
Yo Jay, this intro was FIRE! 🔥🔥🔥
I cannot watch the video right this moment, but DEFINITELY saved to watch later.
Great stuff! 👏🏻
Thank you! i hope you enjoy the full episode!
This was incredible. Thank you 🙌🏻
That's a good one. Thanks!
Two of my favorite creators together!! Thank you for making this happen ❤
Our pleasure!
Great video… Going to put these tips in motion on our vids… Subbed and will watch more
great open my friend. well done. love. just so you know, I commented on this guy's variety idea, he was just starting it out and he asked for comments, I helped confirm his idea we've been doing this in television for years. Its' why Charlie Rose is on PBS and variety shows are on major networks. So I let him know that's the secret sauce and he should do more. So glad he went all the way with it. so happy:) and your show is fire. you even stop for sponsors you are on the right track. keep going . well done buddy you got this man. oh man well done.
This is a video that I think I will need to watch a couple of more times to make sure I didn’t miss anything
I viewed it twice.. Massive! 🙌
So glad you liked it!
You are doing great, Jay!!!
Bro your channel is on point, hope it grows
Great show. Would love to know how you recorded this interview. Looks great. Would recording platform you used. Great advice from Jon.
Excellent information guys 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Great video! Love the "Thumbnail Hall of Fame"...getting started on that right away. ;-)
Legend - thanks a ton man your channel has invaluable advice 🤝
Great advice. Thank you 🙏
Brilliant interview!!! So many amazing insights. 🔥
The Beatles producer, George Martin, developed the “first frame” concept in pop music when he chopped the intros off all their early songs, and started cold with the choruses.
Loved this
I'm just starting out with my channel, actually, rebooting it since I used to post gaming ranks before. But It can be somewhat overwhelming to get started. Thanks for these education videos Jay!
Glad they’re helpful!
This is one of the best videos about making TH-cam video. Thanks.
Love this so glad I found this channel!
Thank you for this video, very helpful 😊
Great interview 👍🏻 Brilliant Guest 😎 Awesome tips. New subscriber here. Cheers from Western Australia 🇦🇺🤝🏻
Just found your channel homie. This is great stuff. Keep it up pls
Thanks, will do!
Loved this interview. especially loved hearing about the professional advantage. I think it makes sense that it goes both ways - having experience in a professional career helps to make a solid YT channel, and that channel can help with the career development and getting better jobs.
which is why you will never make it
The quality of your guests is insane man!
Best channel.
Great tips.
Subscribed.

As an attorney who spent over 30,000 hours representing over 1,000 businesses, I agree with your advice 100%. Great insights! 💪
Great content as always!
Thank you sir!
This was another great interview Jay! Love that you ask you “hunch” question as well. I so appreciated Jon explaining the value of older TH-camrs. It made this older TH-camr feel a lot more encouraged to keep going 😊
I think it’s time you start adding your face to the thumbnail I watch because it’s your video and I like the way you edit and frame your interview, I for fact don’t knows most of the ppl you interviewed , but I trust you , this video was recommended multiple times and I had no idea it was from your channel
He describes the things I wanted to know at the end as just things he knows, and doesn't explain how to do like put that deck together or whatever the marketing manager is looking for to secure the deals.
Great channel
Hey I’m early?? Let’s gooo!! Keep up the great work man! 😄👊
Thanks for being one of the first!
Good informmative stuff. A 67 yrs old granny 8weeks on youtube with only 57 subscribers😢
As a beginner .I have been working and believing to get there someday
Whats up with TH-cam taking money away from Tutorial channel and say its cause of "Invalid Traffic"??? They cant find any different traffic to their channels but They still take half of their income. They will have to give up on their channels without any explanation. And they go hard and heavy o n Music Teachers even when the teacher is the only one performing a song. Its like TH-cam wont take care of its content providers while chasing after TicTok, a company thats been around a decade and still hasnt made a profit. So they take money from long form to give to shorts which cannot run ads. Whos gonna watch a 2 minute ad before a 30 second video? Nobody. I wonder if the CEO has a Bonus clause and get bonus money for running TH-cam into the ground. God, people hate when the dang shorts replay over and over and over. You have to babysit and take action every 30 seconds. If gives you a feeling that armagedon happened and and people left a record that skips on. It has the feeling of lifelessness, like nobody is paying attention but a computer somewhere. Its all fake numbers anyway if they say they have the most shorts watched cause its on auto replay. People are not watching the replays, only getting upset that its replaying over and over and over. People at the stock holders meetings must be easily swayed by any big number and dont care why or how they cook the books
Informative stream
As a Viewer I can never find the Long Form of the Shorts I liked. IDK if it's a User, Creator or TH-cam error but it's not an easy seek & find for Newbies. I'm also interested in becoming a Creator so what's the Cheat Code on connecting Longs to Shorts? Great vid!🔥💯
Yay for DIY videos lol!
Interesting about the visual thumbnail part
Sweet stuff!
good idea🥰
Love this 🎉
Steve Allen did the street thing first-long before Leno- in the 1950s-check him out- OG talk show genius

Very nice
Thank you!
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now -we wish whoever started this TH-cam journey achieves their dreams
Do you have any interviews on hot to make tutorial shorts?
🔥 thumbail

33:37 YES!
I been having an issue my views have dropped big time singer songwriter sober but I now have a rare autoimmune disease where it's taken over.. and some are getting views while others aren't I've done some shorts tried long form failed miserably ..now im stuck suggestions
