I've bought entire cars for that price in the USA. 300 bucks? Bought an 800 dollar late 90s Ford Taurus once. Perfect condition except one scratch where a dog jumped on it, softly driven, 35,000 miles because the old lady only drove it to get groceries and to church. The car ran perfectly, for 800 dollars. I was driving that care when I was 20, so about 10 years ago you could get a perfect condition vehicle for less than 1000 bucks if you shopped around in small cities and towns.

Hey Eta prime, I was wondering. Have you thought about experimenting with e/ os? It’s a googleless android os meant for privacy. I heard it has a desktop mode but it’s the one that’s built into base android
This sounds like a great idea for a cut price home made Android and emulation gaming console. I think I might give this a go - especially at it's also a cheap way of getting desktop Dex up and running too. On eBay in the UK there seems to be plenty of S10's going with 8 GB of Ram (but see below). One thing to bear in mind for this of us not in the States though: International models of the S10 use the Exynos 9820 system-on-chip, while the U.S. and Chinese models use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. Any of phones you could run this same setup on?
Thanks alot bro I just broke the screen of my note 10 plus last week Got my self s22+ and I was wondering what I'm going to do with my broken phone now you give me the best idea And my note 10 won't go to waste
If you happen to have a gamesir X2 controller... their app comes standard with button mapping for games like genshin impact, and I have to say that it actually works rather well. The lag or lack thereof is equal to that of the 8-Bit do Pro 2 controllers. If controller support is something that you're looking for 4 games like this almost any controller that gamesir sells I believe comes standard with that app that allows for easy mapping
I was just playing a game on my OnePlus 8 with my kishi controller and was like. Hey this looks like a good idea. Have the same SD865 with 8GB of ram 😁
There’s one really serious deficiency with Samsung phones in Dex with Xbox. 7:28 The controller will pair fine once the Xbox app is open, but if you interact with the phone, input moves right to the phone and the dex screen won’t recognize input from it. I need to re-pair in DeX settings every time I make a change on my phone.
I use this for Call of Duty Mobile. S20fe and DEX connected to a usb-c hub with usb ports and hdmi out on my Samsung 65" tv with Xbox controller. It's amazing. The only downside is you cant use the controller to navigate in the menu. To solve this I use a wireless mouse with my hub. This setup turns any mobile game into a console like approach.
Is this is why i am kinda interested in the Razer Edge. Yeah it is a little over kill for a android hand held but imagine if they also put a desk top mode in there? with the detachable controller it would be real simple to go from a pretty powerful docked device to a killer hand held on the fly. That being said, i am still going to wait for actual test units to make their rounds and see if the community actually starts dev with it in mind.
Didn't razr change the specs, have to apologize, mislead customers, and put a horrible screen resolution on the thing? I've spoken to like 6 different handheld reviewers personally, and every one of them thought it was a piece of crap.
@@Whatsup_Abroad no idea what you mean by the screen resolution. It is a beautiful screen. It is 1080p if u see that as some how bad in a 6 inch screen. The amoled and high refresh rate also make it look even better in game. Calling it a piece of crap is a over reaction at best, dishonest at worst. There is a lot of missed opportunities with the razer edge but for the money in the android space it is a pretty good little package. A lot of reviewers are putting it up against a steam deck which is not even a valid comparison.

I've watched several of your videos, but due to the large number and my limited English, I couldn't quite understand them. I'd like to directly inquire about something related to connecting a phone to a TV. I want to use an emulator on my phone for PS2, Wii, NGC (I'm using Dolphin) and screen mirror it to the TV. Wireless options have too much latency. My phone, POCO F2 Pro, and Huawei Nova 7se don't support Type C to HDMI. Among the various methods you've mentioned, which is the most suitable, considering both cost and minimal latency? I've seen you mention adapters, decks, and cables, but I'm unsure if they work with phones that don't support Type C to HDMI. Also, some people mention that using a non-powered adapter may lead to connection issues due to insufficient phone power, while using cables may cause overheating. Can you provide some advice? Thank you.
Hi ETA, i am from europe and we have exynos variants and i can tell u that s10 with exynos is unable to play any game over 20 minutes without overheating :) lucky USA in this case.
LG flagships were Snapdragon 8## everywhere (I'm not counting the Velvet or Wing as flagships) and starting with Android 10 they had their own DEX-like desktop mode called Screen+. Plus, you get the ESS QuadDAC powered headphone jack.
Alas, we have only Exynos here in EU and to order something like that from US it is always 30$+ for shipping. I wonder what else can be done to get similar experience. I don`t even need this to be a phone, just some device I could connect to monitor.
This is the most slept on option for emulation. Samsung flagships with Snapdragons & Dex + Backbone + USB-C Hub = an extremely portable emulation powerhouse for less than $400
While looking this video, glancing at my trusty S8+ ... lol it feels weird. Thankfully now in Europe we'll have Qualcomm with the S23 series, it was about time and waiting was worth it. ETA, mind sharing please which animated wallpaper you're using on the S10? Thanks.
Wow! I haven't seen that live wallpaper background in a looong time. IF it's the same one I'm thinking of. Light Grid or something? The dev of that app has a few other cool live wallpaper apps too iirc. Been around a long time now.
Samsung dex is limiting accessibility so basically app that using accessibility like key maping (mantis, dll) can't not be used on samsung dex (the only features i hope samsung dex update to allow some accessibility stuff in dex mode
Genuine question to any other ETA Prime watchers: are you required to have the certain phones that support apps like Samsung Dex to have a "Desktop mode," or would any random desktop mode-esque app from the app store work? I've always wanted to try it out, but I've never had a phone that supports Samsung Dex/Motorola Ready For, etc.
@@Whatsup_Abroad Would you happen to know of some examples that I could perhaps try? I've looked around in the Android play store and I only really find "desktop-like environments" for just the phone, but not any actual desktop like experience otherwise.
I'm digging my moto g100 - snapdragon 870, 8gb RAM, MicroSD, headphones jack, video out over USB-C w/ "ready for" (Motorola's version of Dex), and it's easy to unlock the bootloader to install LineageOS or whatever.
One thing to bear in mind for this of us not in the States though:
International models of the S10 use the Exynos 9820 system-on-chip, while the U.S. and Chinese models use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.
Any of phones you could run this same setup on?
Thanks alot bro
I just broke the screen of my note 10 plus last week
Got my self s22+ and I was wondering what I'm going to do with my broken phone now you give me the best idea
And my note 10 won't go to waste
If you happen to have a gamesir X2 controller... their app comes standard with button mapping for games like genshin impact, and I have to say that it actually works rather well. The lag or lack thereof is equal to that of the 8-Bit do Pro 2 controllers.
If controller support is something that you're looking for 4 games like this almost any controller that gamesir sells I believe comes standard with that app that allows for easy mapping
I was just playing a game on my OnePlus 8 with my kishi controller and was like. Hey this looks like a good idea. Have the same SD865 with 8GB of ram 😁
Wow, I never know about that Hot Lap League game! Thanks for showing it!
I still have this phone! Thanks for the video!
There’s one really serious deficiency with Samsung phones in Dex with Xbox. 7:28
The controller will pair fine once the Xbox app is open, but if you interact with the phone, input moves right to the phone and the dex screen won’t recognize input from it. I need to re-pair in DeX settings every time I make a change on my phone.
@@beemandev I'll try this!
Awesome to see this be done amazing power thanks ETA Prime
And here I am still using my Samsung galaxy s9
Is this is why i am kinda interested in the Razer Edge. Yeah it is a little over kill for a android hand held but imagine if they also put a desk top mode in there? with the detachable controller it would be real simple to go from a pretty powerful docked device to a killer hand held on the fly. That being said, i am still going to wait for actual test units to make their rounds and see if the community actually starts dev with it in mind.
The edge doesn't have Dex, but it does have HDMI video out. So no "desktop" mode, but it will send your screeen to the tv
@@Whatsup_Abroad and this is based on owning the edge 5g and a month of running it thru it’s paces vs a few other hand held
@@Whatsup_Abroad Razer severely fumbled the launch in a way that will negatively impact trust for a lot of folks, but at the end of the day it’s still a very powerful device
Pretty cool. I have a similar set up. I bought the s10e and I use the Razer kishi. Love your videos!! Pretty cool!
Sadly in europe the Samsung S10 doesn't have Snapdragon but has exynos and I heard it's bad and all I'm trying to find is a good priced phone for emulation and over usb type c to screen
Lg g8 for $100 used + $40 razer kishi used = ghetto switch that can play way more games than even a modded switch for half price
I have a LG g8 it runs the same SOC. Also just got an update for Android 12.
Word im second to watch these love your videos man keep it up
Used phones are super underrated especially if you like performance
Do you have any recomendations? Im on a budget and im wondering If i should get a handheld or a older phone and use it with emulation (and maybe use It with Xcloud too)
@@lucasfelipe8349 s20 fe 5g for about 200 used (make sure to get snapdragon variant), s10e/lg g8/ v50 for about 120 used, lg g7/s9 for under 100 sometimes
@@tranquility6789 Thanks, that really helped me, i Will Just search a little more to see what of these best fit me
Blacklisted is a great option i got a s21 5g for$60 snapdragon 888 and Adriano 660
The cool thing is how much gaming you can actually do. Yeah its not able to do every AAA but you absolutely can play games, even some esports!
I've been doing this for a couple years and been telling people about it 😁 good to see you bring this to people
I did the same thing a couple of years ago using one with a broken screen, unfortunately in my country we get the xynos version and it's emulation performance is terrible.
same here.
That wallpaper is sick.
The s10e has nasty slowdowns running twilight princess with base dolphin and mmjr2 even with the hyrule field hack. Id be cautious before dropping any cash on it.
This is essentially what I just got my Galaxy Fold3 for 🙌🏻
Any possibility to make a video about same setup using a remote desktop like Parsec and maybe the nreal glasses? Very curious
I had a S8 that I tried this on and the frame rate wouldn't go over 30 and it had terrible input lag. Might have to try this
This video was the reason I bought a s10e in 2024 lol genshin impact at 1080p medium settings on a 70inch with Mantis Gamepad pro is wild what a time to be alive many thanks to eta prime 🙌
I had an s10e and I've just been playing cod mobile but recently I've jumped all in and have tried all the stuff in this video and man it's incredible phone technology has really come so far from just like 2008 it's wild.
that looks like a solid daily driving device, I dont know why I'd need hardware any more powerfull as a phone
This use to be my setup with a fold 4 with shadow pc on it but I ended up getting a onexplayer and now I use my old fold 2 with dex as a live security cam feed plugged into a Asus zenscreen on my gaming desk . Alot of ppl have been sleeping on the possibilities with Samsung Dex .
That magnetic system on the fan is amazing. Do you know of any phone/tablet holder or arm that uses the same mechanism for when watching on the bed or couch?
I like the idea of using an old smartphone lying around at home. Is it possible to connect two controllers and play with a friend togheter? For example an old ps2 game like fifa?
Thank you.
I really like this kind of vids! Good job. What keyboard are you using in this vid?
Hi ETA, i am from europe and we have exynos variants and i can tell u that s10 with exynos is unable to play any game over 20 minutes without overheating :) lucky USA in this case.
LG flagships were Snapdragon 8## everywhere (I'm not counting the Velvet or Wing as flagships) and starting with Android 10 they had their own DEX-like desktop mode called Screen+. Plus, you get the ESS QuadDAC powered headphone jack.
855 and 865 are insane!!!
And Aethersx2 is a must
Aethersx2 is amazing snap 855 is pretty dam old and it still works. Thanks to the jerks who made tahlreth quit at the moment
Alas, we have only Exynos here in EU and to order something like that from US it is always 30$+ for shipping. I wonder what else can be done to get similar experience. I don`t even need this to be a phone, just some device I could connect to monitor.
What's that live wallpaper your using anyone know looks mint?
This is the most slept on option for emulation. Samsung flagships with Snapdragons & Dex + Backbone + USB-C Hub = an extremely portable emulation powerhouse for less than $400
I saw a TH-cam channel , that guy overclocked 865 is beat easily beats 8 gen1.
Broken phone with good motherboard , it will be a fun project.
Got the s10e and it plays every single emulator ps2 psp gamecube etc at 100% with no lagg 8ts great
Great what you can do with DeX and a pretty cheap phone but PLEASE TELL, what is that cool blue wallpaper you are using on the S10?
While looking this video, glancing at my trusty S8+ ... lol it feels weird.
Thankfully now in Europe we'll have Qualcomm with the S23 series, it was about time and waiting was worth it.
ETA, mind sharing please which animated wallpaper you're using on the S10?
Thanks.
@ETA Prime - My guy, you can run Genshin with GeForce NOW. They allow controller support or keyboard if you play that way.
Could you except the same results if you were gaming on the Tab S6 since it uses the same processor?
I just scored an s10e for $75 including tax and shipping off of eBay. I plan to use it with iPega 9083 for Ultimate portable gaming.
Wow! I haven't seen that live wallpaper background in a looong time. IF it's the same one I'm thinking of. Light Grid or something? The dev of that app has a few other cool live wallpaper apps too iirc. Been around a long time now.
Great vid! Please can I get the link for the keyboard. I’ve seen this in a couple of your vids and would really like one myself. Thanks!
8:15 --- fly 43, fly.
Thank you for doing videos like this, very awesome. Being on a budget you tend to have more devices vs. buying expensive ones.
so is this WITHOUT installing custom os? can you show me what it would take to format a galaxy S7 into an emulator deck?
I watch almost all you videos but im from mexico 🇲🇽
Samsung dex is limiting accessibility so basically app that using accessibility like key maping (mantis, dll) can't not be used on samsung dex (the only features i hope samsung dex update to allow some accessibility stuff in dex mode
I'm just giving up on my S10E because the battery isn't keeping up. Shame is the newer phones have fewer functional features.
As far as I know nothing offers the full functionality of dex but some alternatives do exist for phones that don't have a desktop mode built in.
It's a fairly big, but the upside of that is that I can easily get 2 days worth of battery on a single charge.
I paid $270 for it on eBay last year.
Personally I use Samsung DeX a lot, I don't have a fancy setup, just an old 32 inch FHD TV, I use it mostly for TH-cam with a Samsung Galaxy S9 which has a broken display. I use also a dock with USB C in USB C PD HDMI 2.0a, USB A 2.0 USB A 3.0 and a microSD card slot (The external microSD doesn't work when there is a microSD inside the phone, there is no separate controller on the dock).
Which models came with 4K resolution with One UI 5.0? Did it come for the S10?
I love your content, Estimated Time of Arrival Prime
How do you get that moving wallpaper
I gota note20 ultra and I was surprised how well it runs ps2 with aethersx2 since the last update and I'm guessing last update. Been having fun.
Seriously? I got the Note20 Ultra myself I mostly use for work & entertainment (on DeX)
Gonna try emulation
@@beezrow yea I got ps1(duckstation), n69(Mupen64), gamecube(dolphin), dreamcast (redream) and aethersx2. With ps2 it's a hit and miss most games I've got play play good something with some gamecube games.
Looks like a nice project
thats it!!! im getting a galaxy s10
s10 and note 10 line support wireless dex right?it also support screen share so either way you could emulate while using bigger screen or tv
If your old phone has the Snapdragon 845 or above, it'll do wonders for retro emulation, mobile gaming and Remote Play!
