Hi Scott. Another very useful video. I'm considering upgrading to the 'entry level' Canon M50 ( which will cost as much as my PC!!). I thought I would have to use a capture card like an Elgato or Cam Link to do this ? Does using this download mean I don't have to? I would like also to video and save to my computer rather than an SD card. All help much appreciated. p.s. well done for the 1 year on YT.
I don't have any experience with capture cards yet (soon though). However with the Canon M50/OBS set up you will be able to save directly to your computer. AND for what your doing your going to need a "dummy" battery (power from the wall) for whatever camera you choose...At most, I've only recorded for 20 minutes on the Canon M50 and still had plenty of battery left, but if your doing an hour long class that where the "dummy" battery will come in handy. If you haven't already, download OBS and try it out with your webcam...if you have one.

Just bought canon m50 mark II why dont you use the hdmi connection insteed?

The longest I've gone thru obs is about 20 minutes so not sure...

Hi! thanks for being so responsive. i just want to know is it true that obs just picks up a 576p resolution from the m50 using this utility app? were you able to capture full 1080p 30fps from the m50 in obs?
I capture 1080p at 60fps...so 1080p at 30fps shouldn't be a problem... Thanks for the question! ⚡️
Ingot some lag on obs when I hook it up, it's at 30fps and I get lag... How do I get rid of that?
Hey, there. Your Video was very helpful, but I still have a Problem when I setup my Camera. When I try to capture the Video with OBS I don´t get a crisp Picture and it´s kinda laggy.
I have the same camera as you and I don´t really understand what I do wrong.
Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
My advice would be to double check your video settings in OBS. Also, it's a beta program and is sometimes a little buggy...try deleting the source in OBS and the add it again

I followed you step by step and turned my camera on and still have no picture. What can I do? Does this also work on stream labs obs
Try deleting the source and re adding it in OBS... I've had to do that a few times

Thanks for the comment! ⚡️ As long as you have multiple batteries or a dummy battery you should be good to go. I haven't recorded for 30 minutes straight yet... But I have recorded around 15 minutes straight with no issues... Give it a try...
how many device m50? only 1 connect? 2 or 3?
None of that comes up and my OBS looks nothing like this. I add EOS utility as a new source and there is no "OK" just "close. I now have nothing, can't even get the screen capture video preview to come up. Why is this so difficult it's a basic camera plugged into a PC ffs

Veru useful! Thank you, quick question. Did you test it for more than 30 minutes? If that works can an external charger be added at the same time we are streaming? I want to buy this camera for streaming at my church.
Have NOT gone more than 30 minutes...I understand if your recording video you have to stop the recording before 30 minutes or you will lose that video....for streaming you be able to go indefinitely (not recording) ....but I hear you can get a "dummy" battery for the cannon m50 so you can use the power from the wall.
im trying to install the EOSwebcamUtility 1.1 for windows but it says i need a boodstrapper. But i don't know whatt that is?

When i try to install the webcam utility it keeps interrupting the install and saying “this package can only be run from a bootstrapper” and it wont let me install!

I use a laviler mic connected to my computer when recording or streaming thru obs with my m50

I have connected my camera and installed the drivers but in obs it doesnt show my external camera option it is just showing my old camera what do I have to do to fix this?
Try deleting the m50 as a source in OBS and then add it again...
Saludos amigo conecté mi M50 M2 pero la calidad es mala y 1024*576 es normal eso? También uso una Captura de Vídeo barata y la calidad también es mala es así o hay que configurar algo? Por qué si es así no vale pena tengo una webcam china 2K y la calidad es 3 veces mejor y yo pagué muchos dineros por la M50 y esperaba una calidad buena y es muy mala por webcam y lenta en HDMI también es mala hay algo que hacer?

i installed it and it works on OBS. But the only thing is, is that its keeps lagging. Do you have a sollution?
could be a number of things ....first try and match your m50's fps with obs fps.

I haven't filmed that long yet, but you can buy a dummy battery with a power cord for continuous power on amazon for pretty cheap... I have friends that do this
I guess it time to put it to the test... Might do some streaming to twitch this weekend... Will update this 30 minute concern...
