I have to admit I was dying watching him cook and eat that catfish.... Damn that looked awesome!
... Same here. I was wondering if the cold beer was just out of sight!! :-)
.
You can tell it's good, not only by the excellent videography but by thier dance moves and moans of pleasure while eating.
Never thought to visit Mississippi. Great commercial! It worked.
I hadn’t either. Now I can’t wait to go back!
Awesome video, you guys need to make sure to go back in the late summer or fall to fish the river when the water is down. The fishing is incredible.
We’ll be back in MS this summer! Another series comin soon
This is EXACTLY how river fishing goes. Cats will let baits soak and lay right next to them for hours. Flat heads will run in and attack, but blues will lay and take a nap knowing the food source will be there. I lived in St. Louis and really only fished and snagged for spoonbill which you were talking about in the video also. Snagging season I ruled from the shore with a 15 foot ugly stick and shimano baitrunner. You popped lots of carp also, which are the invasive species. Happy hunting!!
What a killer series! It just keeps getting better
When I was a boy growing up in New Orleans, we lived basically on the Mighty Mississippi River……Always had dinner catching Massive Catfish! Never a Dull Moment!
Really enjoyed this video Rob! Takes me back to fishing as a kid with my grandpa’s. They weren’t that technically advanced back then but we made such Great memories fishing for Catfish. Thanks again Brother.
Glad you enjoyed it Brian! The memories are what it’s all about
Did you ever try-out bluecat in massala?
Great fish & Cook trip I would love to fish the Mississippi river one day
It's quite the experience!
Around the 5:00 mark when you shared your picture was a beer drinking, catfishing venture, made me think, 'Bet you'd catch a state record buzz!' Great video Bud!
... 20:38 ... Tip for anyone, When you net the the fish, especially a heavy one, hold the handle vertically. Point the handle to the sky, grab the hoop at the top and lift the fish. This will prevent bending/breaking the net hoop at the connection point to the net hub (where the hoop and handle connect)
I have had 2 different clients lift heavy fish horizontally and break hoop on nets.
. Jeff .
One way I have found to batter my fish is putting seasoned croutons in the food processor and just use the egg yolks to wet them before breading. It's preseasoned, and is really good. I do it with walleye alot, but it is good with catfish too. Nice thing is you can make it as crunchy, or not, as you like.
*BTW, saw you showing BB King, my brother was BB's attorney. He kept my brother on retainer for years.
Man, I miss living on the Mississippi! Thanks for sharing this one. Flathead is also my favorite cat to eat.
What a dynamic river. It was way up, we woulda died if we had put the kayaks in it haha
@@YakFishField exactly! It's an unforgiving river but good fishing
Need to come to PA and hit the susquehanna for flatheads. I think we have arguably the best flathead fishery in the country right now.
Not the biggest, but i would argue that it would be hard to beat the lower suskie as far as numbers of 30# -40# fish.
I feel blessed to live here.
I love the Susque but only fished it for smallies. Need to do that some day for sure. I’ve only ever caught this one flathead, need to change that
Bob is great at what he does! and congrats on your first Flatty and that monster Blue Hawg! Much love from #SizemattersCatfishing
My Brother Larry (Lawrence)Rodgers could have been your guide for this occasion because he takes his boat every weekend for Chanel n Blue Gill…..we have caught monsters close to where you are and Mckella Lake
That’s awesome
Awsome series dude! Going, i mean gunna try that crappie mustard recipe! Lol
You need to Steve! So good 👌🏼
From Louisiana grew up on channel cats and blue cats. Flat heads were a special treat when you got on them.
They’re so tasty!
THAT LOOKS SO GOOOOOD
Another great episode! Going to have to pick up the military green Field Trip shirt. Very cool!
Thanks Todd! They’re available at www.yakfish.tv 🙏🏼
Bill Dance just did a blue catfish show in Helena/West Helena, AR. It is supposed to be the blue catfish capitol of the world. Him and 2 buddies were pulling 80+ lb fish off of 30 ft deep sandbar. A couple went above 95 lbs. Great video!
about 30 years ago I bought some "Bill Dance fishin" sunglasses. I didn't catch any more fish while I was wearing them.
@@johnhewett5952 I have recently have been to the same area with a fishing guide and caught several huge catfish, so if you implied that Bill somehow fabricated those catches or video. You are sadly mistaken, I had a blast. You should try it. Sounds like your too frugal though. Prove me wrong and you will have a blast too.
I was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi. I hope you had fun!
Awesome town!
I haven’t had any time to watch any videos recently, had a hour today to catch up and watch some. Great video and the love you have for fishing reminds me of myself. Great stuff!!
you blew it when you said worcestershire sauce ... get it right, wuss. lol theres nothing better than catching and cooking your own fish . cool video guys
Love it man! Those big cats fight almost as hard as the monsters in Los Buzos! Keep doing you brother!
Thanks Adam!
Dang that's enough fish to feed a small platoon! Looks delicious!
Great series loving it
Thanks Tom! Next one is extra long and extra good in my opinion
Great Show
Thanks Kenny
Fishing in the boat is really amazing 😍🤩🤩🤠
Yep
Love this! It reminds me of a show on the food network
Thanks so much!
Looks great!! Atta boys!
That's a bad ass camper! Those fish nuggets 🔥
Soooooo good. And I love my Keystone!
You don't even have to describe the taste, the look on you guys face says it all! Forget the sides because the fish by itself is the main thing. How you could keep from trying it as it came out of the oil is beyond me! lol,, Good job and keep these videos coming! ( ok maybe some onion rings on the side! since you go the batter handy ) :) :)
Onion rings next time for sure!
@@YakFishField hahah yep!!
So great! I mean this stuff is absolutely amazing Robert! Like should be on a major network great. Outstanding brother ❤️✊🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much brother. I think the next one is my most polished edit ever, and it’s 50 minutes long. Hope you enjoy it. Appreciate the kind words 🙏🏼
@@YakFishField Awesome I can’t wait to throw it on the big screen 👀👀🔥✊❤️
Abraço amigo, diretamente do Brasil.
Gosto muito do seu canal😄
river looks high...I was born in Vicksburg, raised in Madison parish...
Great to see you in the SIP. (My home) Gonna borrow that tarter recipe. love your vids Man! been watching a couple of years now.
Got into the Kayak fishing about 4 years ago, My boys love it as well. Sold the boat and upgraded Kayaks, been peddling ever since. Now if i could only ditch the corporate world.
Living my dream through you. It's always cool seeing you in places we go, south Louisiana, biloxi, vicksburg, Love fishing the oxbows and hunting in the Delta. and hopefully Los Bozos some day.
Thanks so much Warren. Hope to see you at Los Buzos one day!
Man U hafta start making up a batch of that tartar sauce more often , especially with the fried fish 🤘🏼💯🤤
Every dang time that fire alarm. 😄
... Great cooking segment. One question, where was the beer? Had to have a beer with that fish.
Great video!!
. Jeff .
Reppin the home state H-E-B. 🤘🏻
Yessirrrr
Soak the catfish in a little vinegar and water for 10 to 15 minutes takes the muddy taste out. Dust in flour then dip in buttermilk and dredge in cornmeal salt and pepper with maybe some lemon pepper. Throw in peanut oil.
I've eaten...that's past tense, both fish. The best part about your meal is your tartar sauce. For me I would put the sauce on the paper plate and eat the plate.
I love tartar
Wow good catch
Thanks Ellen
We bank fish for cat on the river and it a blast. Grass shrimp/river shrimp are the best bait in my opinion.. going to try off the boat the next time I go.
Yummmmm
Lmao @33:20 did anyone else blow on the fish as he pulled it apart. 🤣 I need more hobbies.
Hahaha
No need for the egg, that fish fry sticks by itself and is excellent.
Great episode
Thanks Jim!
Huge tip from old timers of my past. To rid most fish blood lines. Doesn't matter what fish, I use a pair of wire cutters and cut through 3 to 5 gill bones on each side for fish I'm keeping to eat. Many times I put fish on a rope back into the water. This keeps them cold while they bleed out. Once they are past I put them on ice. You will definitely notice the bloodline is gone or very minimal during cleaning your catches.
Oh wow. I actually know that guy and his son Stacy from JobSite fasteners. Great people! I had a camp and used to fish the river about 25 miles south of there at Grang Gulf.
Bottom fishing nice guys
Yessirrrr
Wonderful job fellas I wish I was out there to share the moment .I wonder what combo did you catch that big blue off of
Thanks Anthony. I don’t remember the details about the combo, it wasn’t mine
When you lift a fish in a net, put the handle vertical and lift by the hoop.
Lifting by the handle allows for the net to roll and the fish to get out, as well as out bad stress on the net.
Thanks
Nice catch baby I'll catch it up here in the 618 at Melvin price Lock and dam somewhere and see your tag for another release✌🏿
Fantastic video!
Thanks Seth!
Have you ever tried Dams?
I did whits bass and crappie below the Truman dam in mo. Those guys had 100lbers! Back then they used Rc tug boats to haul out a 5” crappie with a contraption of a weight setup. They were hammering them! Then into the trunk of their 4 door sedan! 🤣😂I wore out a old diawa on white bass!
I gotta get in touch with you for my 50th.
Dude, no commentary on the belly steaks?
They were good but I think grilled is the way to go. Wish it hadn’t been raining so hard. Fried they were a little tougher, I think you need that flame to break down the layer of fat. Still delicious! But the blue cat was better
If you ever make it out to Gordon Wisconsin let me know I spend a ton of weekends up there and wouldn’t mind sharing a few spots
Thanks man!
Marinade that fish in Franks or Teaxs Petes hot sauce for a couple hours. Then bread it and fry it. Try it you'll love it. Not too hot and you can still taste the fish and boy does it gives it a great flavor.
Heads are always the best cut bait. whether its for Red Dum in saltwater of catfish in fresh.
Yes Sir, I think there's a major misconception about Cats. I catch them on K.O. wobbler spoons in the hot water discharge during winter on our local lake here in the Carolinas.
Not only are you guys handsome, you’re amazing anglers and awesome chefs! Great video! ♥️😘
Thanks mom!!
When there is no human of color involved in a public video it's just irresponsible.
Love the series. Drove through Mississippi on my way back from Disney. Lots of great looking spots for fishing. Any great recipes for cocktail sauce lol. Keep up the awesome job.
Haha im not a big cocktail sauce guy but I thought it was basically ketchup and horseradish 🤷♂️
Thank you for releasing it. It's bad fishing etiquette to not release the over-size catches for spawning purposes, in order to keep up the population.
Goujon is what we call “flatheads” in the south, or at least in Cajun country. Catch hoop net full of ‘‘em lots being 70 pounds + every week when they running.
Interesting. I always say Louisiana should be it’s own country. The culture is so different than the rest of the states… they even have their own language. I love Louisiana
To be at the table Yummy 😋
I am from Helena are born and raised there my hole family is from Helena we have been catching blues all are life we moved to a place that said that were to tough to the belly of a blue cat Dunhill we showed them how we clean and cook them we use to fish with Bill dance all the time
woww😱😱😱 amazing
Thanks!
Great Video! If I could offer some advise. Trim the inside belly skin off and it will not be as tough. Congratulations on all the catches!
Good to know. Next time!
I got to make that tartar sauce brother
14:40...wish I had that flathead swimming in my wok w/ curry sauce[coconut milk], eggplant, carrots, celery & bok choy...yummy😎
That sounds delicious
I’d love to see you dress out a catfish. I’ve heard that you skin them by peeling it off with pliers, but I’ve never actually seen it done. Otherwise, another awesome video! Keep up the great work!
That’s one way to do it but not how Bob did it. Maybe I’ll post up a short video showing how. Prob on my Facebook page, short vids don’t do well on here
My next fishing trip is gonna be Mississippi River
Would love a east coast one of these! Virginia or North Carolina!
Just gotta convince the tourism board to help me out. I love both those states!
Hey rob what’s the song you were playing at the end it’s awesome just like the video
I honestly don’t remember bro sorry. You could use the Shazaam app to find out (it’s free)
Santee Cooper, caught 50 pounder plus , on rediversion canal, in ST Stevens S,C, they have a fish lift at dam with windows, so you can sit and watch fish from ocean go into lake,( that was before 9 -11.
Then could fish right next to dam and even throw your bait where fish came out of lift, course steel grate door got a lot of lures(buck tails) kids had a ball watching fish go pass the windows , even saw a bottle nose sturgeon , they also milk the stripper's for raising.
oh your here well welcome man
Thanks brother!
Come and Fish the Arkansas River in Arkansas for Catfish you'll be Amazed at the Chanel, Blue and Flathead Catfish you can catch.
That’s where I learned how to fish as a kid outside Little Rock
YOU MUST FORGOT ME TO THE FISH FRY. I FORGIVE YOU MAYBE THE NEXT ON.
I have plenty of catch and cook videos
Great video Robert ! Hopefully you show a video on how he clean the flathead and this crappie from the previous video one day soon. Stay safe
Hmmm maybe I’ll throw those up on my Facebook page separate
Caught big flat head yesterday
He can you do one in grand isle,ls I’ve been there there is some really big snapper bout 15 to 30 miles offshore
There’s huge bull reds in the pass, too. If the Louisiana Tourism department wants to have me out, I’d love to
Big blues don't have flavor, but have great texture, your batter is going to be your flavor, but one fillet off a fifty plus pounder is big cooler long and thick, three to four, inches on just 50 pounders ,I like the medallions from the top back, great food .
That's a big fish fry.
Yessir
State record now is over 130 lbs. I think 138 4/2022
Wow, that’s a monster
12:34 Hi Brenda!
Next time you are in Panamá, ask the guys what they think about Bagres, which is what catfish is called here.
What gear are you using in the vid?
I don’t remember. It was his
I always see your thumbnails and I'm like yeah that's clickbait ...............well I'm always wrong
❤
What kind of knot was that at 9:05?
Didn't think you guys would recognize my comment
What about the belly steaks?
You should have showed us how to filet the belly meat.👍
What rods are those he uses
I'm honestly not sure. Link in the description to hit him up.
You need to clean the diver skin off the catfish too
The white/silvery stuff?
Catfish seem to be lazy like they sit in the river current and wait for the current to bring the food...then the time I caught a 15 pound catfish on a float line with nightcrawler..
it''s "eyel" instead of oil in the carribean
Haha did not know this
If you eat this.. you are fowl
Fowl? Like a turkey? Im confused
i keep a fan under the smoke detector in my rv for that reason
