Apple prices? This is absolutely run-of-the-mill pricing for modern sneakers. Everything hovers around $200 and there is a massive range in quality. I think these shoes kinda suck, but you're clearly paying for the extended R&D and collaboration process Atmos did with Marques, his TH-camr brand cache, and the low-volume production numbers for a tiny startup brand. Their pricepoint makes perfect sense even if you want to hate it.

Yeah same, I don’t really get the comparison they’re making either. Escobar shit was just actual apple (or Samsung) products but in a facade pretending to be something better. just one thing: that rod running down the center of the calipers acts as a depth gauge when it sticks out, so you don't have to wedge the jaw in at an awkward angle. sure, three digits of precision on something like this isn't a critically huge deal, but it's good to see tools applied at their full potential.

    • @blarfroer8066

I effing hate this so much, ethics just go down the drain for so many people when it comes to money. And I disagree that there is no responsibility of Brownlee. If I would put my name on a shoe I would make sure that it is good quality and keeps what is promised. He apparently didn't.

I've been wearing Atoms for a few years now. When I bought my first pair, they would send you three pairs a quarter size apart (so 10.25, 10.5, and 10.75 for me who usually wears 10.5) and you could keep the two shoes that fit you best even if they were different sizes. So the two I picked were the best fitting shoes I've ever had (left 10.75, right 10.5). And the quality was good... For $60. They still do the quarter sizes but they don't try the three pair try-on and different sizes for each foot thing anymore. But it's still a pretty ok shoe... for $60. I really couldn't imagine paying more for them.

I guess the copper is really working in there somehow, because I still can't smell anything from the boots after half a year of wearing them. So either way I see it as an advantage. I bought them mainly because of the emphasis on comfort and design, so I don't regret it at all. First, unlock the top screw and adjust the thumb screw to get the rod to stick out. Continue to twist the thumbscrew until the end of the beam scale touches the top of the hole. Then, move the rod so it sits flat against the bottom of the hole.)

Great to point out that MKDHD might not even know what's up with his shoe. BUT, considering his knowledge- or perceived knowledge of tech, I would hope he would have been in on some of the material choices and pricing of this. Here's hoping he addresses this in a video. It never hurts to be honest and take criticism.

What knowledge of tech? His degree is in business and pretty much all he does is quote spec sheets and then compares slightly different versions of android or ios. He does not do in depth reviews at all. I mean all the best to him as he has gained huge success but his tech knowledge is pretty lacking. He has a ton of biases (as do we all) but if your trying to do comparisons and reviews you have to try and not have that. He fanboys over apple and tesla products too much as well.

IF your argument is that MKDHD knows nothing about tech, you gotta have a better reason than, his degree is in business. Is that even an argument? Seriously, that's a rather silly gauge to whether or not someone knows something about tech- Steve Jobs, no degree. Bill Gates, no degree. Mark Zuckerberg, no college. To you, I guess, they also don't know much about tech. Marques is a consumer tech reviewer, just like Joanna Stern at the Journal, Wirecutter at the Times or any other popular consumer facing "tech" reviewer. For anything "in depth" I'm sure you have others to watch. He doesn't cut apart the latest iPhone to tell you how great the 4 nanometer chip is, because his viewers don't care about that. That is NOT who he is. But I'm not here to defend him, his millions of viewers and place as a top TH-camr speaks volumes against your comment. Oh, and I have a bunch of different college degrees, so my TH-cam comments should be taken much more seriously than anyone without. 😁 @@corail53

Just like how there are bad leather, there also exist good synthetic leather, one example would be the boxing brand Winning's groin protector and headgears synthetic leather, they never degrade or dry out.
