Awesome! Thank you
As he should. A must for anyone doing regular, serious work with tools.
Please don’t sell out. Keep to your reputation of being fair.
15:12 “Which is a lot more torque then you’ll probably need for a P.C. build” - Making excuses for it when this could be true for all of them.
15:38 “Definitely not a tool made for rugged use” - A more appropriate comment for the LTT one as well.
Then leaving out the first thought of anyone buying a screw driver from the results grid (i.e. is it tough/strong enough). Likely only to get the LTT one up to #3. Really makes this one feel like a LTT Paid promotion.

LTT screwdrivers are quite consistent it would appear - often in the top of the pack, not expensive compared to better performing tools, but indeed a bit pricey for many people who doesn't need a screwdriver everyday. They definitely have a great "prosumer" niche nailed down.
Thank you, Todd, for carrying out all these tests for us to refer to!
You are welcome!
I think they are made by megapro.
I bought one way before LTT started to rebrand them and I swear to god it's the only tool that I've genuinely been surprised how well it was designed. I probably put 15,000 hours of use on that little red fucker and it's still going strong lol
@griffinmackenzie6364 iirc LTT has been very transparent that they used patented ratchet and bit holder designs from Megapro, but LTT did made lots of changes to achieve their desired ratchet feel, e.g. the low ratchet back drag. Definitely great for low force and more delicate applications like electronics assembly and disassembly (duh), but yeah the original Megapro should be much better for heavy jobs (not to mention the LTT upcharge) - although it looks like the only way to get a Megapro-style ratcheting stubby at the moment is the LTT Stubby.
@griffinmackenzie6364 LTT licensed the Mega pro patent and improved upon it themselves through engineering. It wouldn't have taken them 3 years of development time to simply rebrand a megapro
@@one-six952 The also had it re-engineered to have the selector switch work the opposite of the direction megapro does. As that not only makes sense, it matches the direction of the Snapon Selector switch Linus used before this.

How many Livers does it cost?
Suggested tool to test: Snap ring pliers. So many ways they fail to get the ring out or hold it without flinging it into your face, across the shop/yard, or off into a different dimension entirely.
Great idea
I can totally relate with the different dimensions.. I’m pretty sure that is where 80% of the snap rings I removed live.

Hey Todd,
I wanted to shoot you a quick thank you for all the awesome reviews and tests you put together. Your channel's been a solid guide for me, and I'm always stoked to discover your top picks and actually buy stuff based on your recommendations.
Now, I've got a little suggestion that I thought could be pretty neat. How about tossing in some timecodes to split your videos into chapters? It'd be super handy for all of us viewers to jump straight to the parts we're most interested in. Plus, this move could give your SEO a boost. So, when someone Googles a review for a specific product, your video's chapter could pop up, matching their search and making them more likely to click.
To make things even smoother for you, I've gone ahead and whipped up a sample timecode for this video. You can just copy and paste this baby into your description, and bam! Instant chapters on your progress bar. Just remember, kick off each new chapter with 0:00.

Thanks and you are welcome!
I'm always genuinely impressed by the design focus with the LTT screwdrivers. The backdrag makes them ideal for really fiddly fine threaded fasteners with enough strength to be practical in any reasonable use.
If I had to put this much torque on a philips screw I'd probably already have pulled out the drill or an impact driver lol.
Thanks for the feedback.
This channel has become a go to for me. I’m always trying out different types of mechanics hand soaps/towels. If you ever test them, that will be the end all be all for me. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
Backdrag and the 360 test are by far the most important to me. Thanks for another great video!
Glad you like them!
Absolutely. As an electrician I find that low amount of backdrag helps a lot in tight spaces. You also just lose rotation because of it.
How about trying two remove bits with greasy hands I know that's not very technical but that's a pain in the ass if the magnet is too strong. It's quite frustrating to be honest. What's your opinion.
@@anuragchandra8283 Yeah the bit retention is a balancing act imho. I don't want it falling out all the time, especially when I have my hand deep into a piece of equipment, but I don't value an extremely strong magnetic bit holder, either.
Agreed. Great results from PBswiss .. too bad about that backdrag.

I am very disappointed there was no test for using the screwdrivers to hammer nails 🥲
Can we get a test of the LTT screwdriver with a flathead bit, being used to drive in a Philips screw? I know some people would say "hey that's not fair" but what are you to do? Spend, $100, $200, $300 or even $500 to do the test properly?
@MarkDano , I don't know if he knows... What a legend.
The timing is quite perfect IMO 😂😂😂
Thanks for testing all these out. For tool testing, I feel it's important to show all the different categories like this since what a particular user cares about will really depend. For some jobs, back drag is critical. For others jobs it barely matters at all. Similar for if you care about locked position performance. etc

Todd, I always enjoy your testing methods. You design them to bring out the worst flaws.
I first started watching your videos when you destroyed lawnmowers. It saved me from having to break them myself.

I absolutely love these videos, and you know why?
Because they’re not just tests done with stupid music on-screen with very little commentary, but there’s so much love, soul and joy put into them.
I’m visually impaired so the amount of dialog really helps, where other channels might just throw Uber-pretty graphs on-screen and call it a day, don’t bother to paint the back side of the fence, go that extra mile but not this channel.
I recommend content like this to friends of mine due to the amazing format, which is just so engaging.
Thank you for your great work. Please, never change.

Great point! I didn't plan it this way. Testing was finished and editing completed on Monday. I worked through the weekend to finish this review before the planned screwdriver release this past Thursday. Thanks again!
Agreed. They may have dropped the ball but that also doesn't mean their products suck either.
Would love to see you do some more tests on kitchen appliances and maybe even venture into cleaning products. I know there's plenty of people who already do those sorts of videos, but I enjoy your content and how thorough your tests are!

Honestly, at $14 the No Cry is a great value from a back drag perspective being so close to the $70 GearWrench, and the $30 Stahwille with its fairly strong magnet and still fairly low backdrag is a close second in value in my mind, especially if you have your own bits handy and would otherwise be ok with no onboard storage
Thanks for the feedback.
You can get the stawille one for cheaper under bahco sl25 , exact same stubby with extensions& bits for less money
@@garymccreath2773
Not sure who the OEM is for that one, but the same tools (with slightly varying styling) are sold by a number of brands.
I happen to have a Bahco branded one, but would not recommend it. There‘s nothing particularly wrong with it, but the ratchet isn’t all that precise, mediocre back drag and it has a fair bit of shaft wobble.
The toothless ratchets made by Oplast (sold under Hazet, Gedore and some other brands in different configurations) are just better and similarly priced.
Eh I had a bad experience with my No Cry stubby from 2019. After less than 2 months the mechanism for holding bits fell apart.
Thanks for the test, Todd!
I have both the standard size PB Swiss and LTT ratcheting screwdriver; while both are great, I like the PB Swiss more - the bits are much superior
in durability (normal use, not near failure), the handle material is MUCH better as it gives more grip rather than the sleek and slippery design of LTT, and it is more ergonomic.
You got to give to the Swiss. They make great tools.
You're welcome!
Everything Swiss made I've seen has been quality. I just bought a Swiss designed laptop backpack. They're more expensive but you can see they are very detail oriented and have a 10 year warranty far surpassing most others at around the $100 price point.
Awesome to see independent testing on these again, thanks for the content! =)
The back drag automatically disqualifies the PB Swiss and Milwaukee for me, and the lack of bit storage does the same for the Snap On, so I'd probably go with the LTT. Having gotten used to the very low back drag on my normal one, I'd want similar performance in a stubby as well, it's been oh so useful in situations where I need my other hand to hold things. And I can't remember when I used the locked position, so the poor performance on that category isn't a terrible issue.
If you don't need low back drag, that Milwaukee seems like a steal!
Thanks! Thanks for sharing.
Literally my all time favorite channel now. Thank you for all you do!
Wow, thank you!
I hope there's a grip test, some of my screwdrivers like this just slips in your hand as the rubber handles aren't stuck to the actual unit very well
Great point. I should have included a grip test!
Therexxx- Yes, in the 70's I had a cheapo set with a loose black vinyl grip over yellow plastic handle. That stubby was useless except as a probe of the screw slot😅
A lot of conditions to test out. With gloves / without gloves the material of the gloves. Oiled or dusty/dirty. I'm curious about how some of these handle being in dusty environments.
also if the grips are rubber, if they are oil/gas resistant or the type that melts.@@ProjectFarm
@ProjectFarm
I think a quick rating on size should have been added into the final value. Some of those are too long and there is nothing you can do if they don't fit. The REAL stubby ones can work in close and you can use an extension if needed. Matko, gearwrench and Snapon seem too long.
I just love the way you test, Todd. You do the heavy lifting for us all. Thanks for sharing.

@@ProjectFarm You're welcome. Thanks for listening to people's suggestions!
Hey Todd, absolutely love your videos! Quick idea for taking out human error at the backdrag test: if you fit a small pipe over the hex-shaft for the part that lays on the middle platform, there will be less inconsistency/more accuracy with overcoming the bumps of the hex-shaft. The positions where you started varied from screwdriver to screwdriver, so the rotational position of the hex-shaft also varied/the horizontal distance to where the sting is attached to the weights. So some seem to have started on one of the 6 bumps, while other seem to have started on one of the flat sides and had to overcome the bump.
I hope my attempt at explaining makes sense?
I really love your videos and watch every single one! You always seem to find simple and efficient ways to take the human error factor out as much as possible.
Kind regards

I second this. Are the big name coolers worth the money? If you do coolers I would love to see durability testing. Bouncing around in a truck bed and being drug up and down stairs are two ideas that come to mind.
There's already a good video out on the large cooler brands. Probably 10 years old now.
That's a great idea!
@@ProjectFarmIndeed, it is! I wonder if you could use one of the cheaper ones and test one 'as is' and then take the same one and spray some spray foam insulation in the lid by strategically make a few holes and spraying it in? There are some 'hacks' online of people doing that and they claim it keeps ice frozen for hours longer (because a # of the cheaper coolers, maybe Coleman is an example, doesn't have an insulated lid (on some models). But, yeah, great suggestion by @skitzballs

Hi "Project Farm", old retired Navy Veteran who has his own "project farm" to support. Again, thank you for your honesty, your humility, your integrity, and your dedication to helping fellow DIY's. Your test results are very practical and useful especially for people on a (limited) budget; they reflect issues that most of DIYers face especially the ones dealing with self-employment (like farmers, small shop owners, ...). It means a lot to us (the "little people"). I have subscribed to "Consumer's Reports" for over 40 years and their testing is good/accurate but your reviews are more "practical" and you do not hesitate to "call a cat, a cat" i.e. you actually rate/publish (number-wise) your results (something similar to the "Torque Test Channel"). Thank you for saving your viewers pain, frustration(s) and... money. Ciao, L (Morningside & Starshine Farms Inc.)
A major challenge with Consumer Reports is its bias toward environmentalism. Their reviews for the same products often vary drastically by year. I stopped subscribing for those reasons. I do respect their commitment, however.
Thanks so much!
@@dad1432 Hi Dad1432, I fully agree with you. CR's methodology is excellent but they have introduced the "greenie" bias in their philosophy of testing which introduces a "government-supported" bias. The other issue I see/read is the lack of actual result numbers on the testing of their products (as opposed to Project Farm, Torque Test Channel, ...). This makes it harder for people like me to be able to reproduce their results or make better "informed" decisions in my product purchases. Ciao, L
@@dad1432 - CR lost me when I noticed that they rarely tested for endurance when doing their ratings. I want things that last, not ones that work for 18 months then need to be replaced.
Snap on stubby is awesome because you can swap out to a whole bunch of different shanks. A cool little feature.

Great testing, as usual. In the years watching your channel it's been cool watching what started as very solid testing mature into very well-considered and executed objective testing for such a wide range of products and capabilities. Kind of makes my think of this channel as being the Mythbusters of TH-cam - a simple concept ("Project Farm") that has grown into something so much more impressive and informative.
"Very Impressive!"

Thanks!
As always great information and all the work/time is appreciated. I was looking through your vids for some fuel resistant sealant and could not believe there was no video. I’m just so impressed with how well the Milwaukee screwdriver did considering it’s price. Made me happy about my purchase a few years ago! 😊 Still going strong as well! 👍🏽
Thanks for the feedback.
If it had better back drag it would be perfect at a steal of a price
@@Darkcruzer23 I have the full size version in my kit, and that is the biggest drawback.
I think one of the most impressive wins for the LTT is the side to side wobble, less than half the slop of the snap-on, which costs more and is from a long established tool maker. Very impressive.
Thank you!
It's impressive don't get me wrong, coupled with everything else it's brilliant - but when it comes to ratcheting tools I've never found wobble/slop to be a significant indicator of anything straight out the box. They all end up the same way very very quickly. Now if LTT retained that tightness over a long period, I'd be super impressed and would make it my go to. But the larger LTT didn't hold up for me in that regard. My experience is they all end up just as wobbly as each other after a week of use, and if you need an exacting use, it might be best to see if you can use a non ratcheting tool.
But it's definitely a very very good indicator of strong build quality in the LTT and its impressive that a company like LTT that doesn't (yet) specialise in tools has such high quality control
Remember, the snap-on also has a disadvantage in slop due to the removable shaft…
@@zakkazz1201 hmm good catch. I can see how it could've been an honest mistake as the shaft on the LTT is so short, but yeah it is the closest to the vice of all the products tested and you cannot see the light coming from behind the screwdriver in that gap as you can with the other products that were close to the vice.
@zakkazz1201 I also noticed that, but then I paid attention to other screwdrivers, some of them were locked similarly. I assume all of them were locked the best way it was possible... so geometry of shaft contributed into this particular test(so far the only test that was influenced by geometry).
It is not excuse, just explanation attempt.
Wow, you tested way more products than usual. Really appreciate you constantly improving your content!
Thanks!

Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
Personal preference comes into play heavily on these for me. I actually prefer ones that don't have bit storage in the handle. Usually when I'm using one of these it is with my finger tips in a tight spot. A smaller profile handle suits me better because of that.
Thanks for the feedback.
I'm surprised if all the local tool trucks don't already stop by your house, they're missing out on quite a few sales for this channel! Awesome video as usual!
Thanks!
Yet another great test! I picked up the Klein Tools ratcheting stubby at a steep discount about a month ago and it has been great. It didn't score well here against the competition but for me, the point of a stubby ratcheting screwdriver is the length, or lack of. So it checks that box in a big way and does everything else moderately well. Some of these other "stubby" drivers look pretty full-sized to me.
Thanks! Thanks for sharing.
Your audio and video is always high quality thank you for your hard and honest work.
Thanks so much!
I don't like the rotate-to-change-direction feature, though i own a couple. I think i would strongly prefer the mechanism on the NoCry. It seems like that is much easier to use one handed, with less room for confusion about what it means - push towards the screw to screw it in, pull back to screw out.
Thanks for the video. Great work as always.
Thank you!
Once you've used them for a while, you remember which way to turn them. I have the milwaukee, and the rotate is opposite of the full size screwdriver annoyingly. More important is that it's way easier to accidentally move collar while using the stubby. The full size I have no issues, but with the stubby I accidentally turn the collar way too often.
As someone with the larger LTT screwdriver, it’s very easy to switch positions one handed. I’ve been shocked how much I use and love the big ratchet driver.
I am thoroughly impressed with your use of the scientific method in all of your videos. Keep up the great content!
I love the tests you made. I was thinking what can he test other than how it screws but boy was I wrong. The best thing is that all tests make sense and are useful. Great video
Thanks!
Very impressive. Thank you i really needed this comparison right now. Most of these are totally fine. But the PB Swiss suits my needs perfectly since losing screws is always annoying.
Thanks and you are welcome!
It'd be cool to see on the graph what you consider acceptable values for each/some criteria. For example, with bit retention strength low values are bad but values that are too high are as well, so some form of color coding on the graph to see what you think is the best range would bring those abstract numbers more into context.
EDIT: oh, and metric units for those of us that don't speak freedom units :)
Thanks for the suggestion.
Love these reviews and how much information you manage to fit into a relatively short video!
One suggestion for future comparisons: you might want to consider aggregating the final scores based on relative performance, not rank, e.g., mapping the worst & best value to 0 and 10 respectively: if the highest weight you can lift with the magnet is 1kg and the lowest is 0, then a screwdriver lifting 750g would get a 7.5/10. This should make your overall ratings more fair in the plenty of cases where you might have a few competitors that all do similarly well in some categories
Thanks for the constructive feedback.
Another great video! I agree the back drag in the PB Swiss is quite an issue despite its other strengths. I would go with Snap On.
I have the Klein already and am surprised to learn there are much better ratchet stubbies out there.
Thanks!
I thought the Klein was going to place right near the top
Another great video! It would be great to see a revisit to your impact driver video. Both dewalt and Milwaukee have come out with several new drivers since then and it would be interesting to see how they work! I’d be really interested to see how the Milwaukee surge would stand up. I particularly like how it starts to impact much earlier with soft impacts that help keep you from caming out in screws.
Thank you!
Torque test channel has a lot of great videos on new impacts
I don't know how to explain it, but this channel is the perfect tool review channel. It gets straight to the point, seems non-bias, no unnececary monologues defending brands or poor results on favorites etc. The way the videos are formattet, it gets straight to the point, but still has enough personality and flair to keep both a teenager and grandpa engaged throughout.
Thanks!
Todd, love your reviews! How about reviewing ratcheting tee handled bit drivers? Thanks, Dave
Suggested video idea: I thought it would be cool to do a throwback/retest video. For example maybe retest the brands of oil to see if manufacturers have changed or upgraded their products or if they’re all the same still. Also testing oil filter brands would be a good few videos. Thanks for the great videos!
You are welcome! Thanks for the suggestion.
Another test suggestion: Soldering stations! There are a ton of these available at prices all over the map. They have a ton of applicable metrics that would be suitable for comparisons...Regards!
Thank you for the video idea!
I agree this would be a great video, that as well as solder and fume extractors.
Have you done a video on sockets? That would be fun to see. Thanks for all the great content!
beautiful video, it's been a long time since I've seen such a short video with so much information before!
Thanks!
Very nice to see the LTT driver doing what it was intended for well. This video helps make the price make sense since the higher ranked ones are also more expensive. The locked position rotation and bit retention were a tad disappointing. Maybe they can fix that up in revisions.
Thanks for the feedback.
@@htr5372 u mad bro?
@@htr5372 u indeed mad bro
The rotation at the locked position is kind of misleading as the measurements are taken so far away to get a better idea between all of them. Any that did not make it past 1 inch in that test is great in my opinion. I have the original LTT driver along with many other ratcheting tools. The bit storage, magnet, ratchet and ergonomics is what makes it for me. It is expensive yes but no other driver I have tried comes close. All other options I can think of that would be second would have a extremely poor magnet and far worse ratchet.
@@htr5372 Then name one.
That you never sell out to sponsors is what makes this channel valuable. Lose that and you lose your audience. I'm astonished that you've been able to keep your rock solid reputation this long as most all creators give in. Congrats and respect PF.
Thanks!
Sorry if I’m uninformed but being I don’t think being sponsored is inherently a bad thing though especially for smaller creators, it’s just you gotta watch out for problematic sponsor and big creators
As always love the in depth reviews! I bet you have the best tool collection!!! 😂
Thanks!
Would love to see a showdown of 1/4 bit rachets! Klein, wiha, wera etc.
Love the channel
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
It always brightens up my day whenever I see a new Project Farm video in my subscriptions!
Thanks for all the work you do to give us some good quality testing and valuable knowledge. It's much appreciated!
Wow, thank you!
Love the testing I wonder if any other testing labs are taking notes.
LTT is definitely not, considering they decide to trash on anyone who has superior testing methodologies than them
Project Farm ain’t ever apologized for testing errors neither…
cuz he’s never made one 😎
Thank you!
There's at least one channel that's a pretty close clone of PF just with fancy animations for the spreadsheet data
@@ChuckThree, Project Farm actually did get a bunch of criticism for the recent review of equipment for "welding" plastic where many commenters felt that Todd really needed to spend more time learning how to use the devices to their best ability, and also "matching the hatch" with the correct type of plastic welding rods to the type of plastic being repaired. It was the only time I've seen any major criticisms of his product testing.
been a subscriber even before the led vs fluorescents video always amazes me the good stuff you test. hoping for more lubricity tests too be added. specifically all of hot shots stuff
Thanks for the suggestion.
Also thinking if you did a comparison of degreasers that would be great.. such as the ZEP products.@@ProjectFarm
great comprehensive review, thanks!
You are welcome!
That was an informative video. I would like to see a comparison between drilled/slotted brake rotor vs standard rotors.
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
If you test ratcheting screwdrivers again I would love to see a drop test get added in! I switched to the milwaukee screwdrivers purely because the bitholder can't break when dropped. Had a dewalt one that exploded apart from a 5 ft drop 😥
Thank you for sharing!
Nice video! I am not planning on buying any screwdriver soon but you still managed to make me watch the whole video
Thanks! Thanks for watching!
Great video. You should do one on natural gas detectors for homes. Not much information on the internet regarding these and there have been a lot of home explosions due to natural gas leaks recently.
Good timing for this review! 😂
Thank you!
@@ProjectFarm It wasn't a compliment my man.. There is currently a huge issue with LTT with allegations of inappropriate business/testing practices and of sexual misconduct inside of LTT google Linus Tech Tips and Madison and limit it to the last week.. LTT at the very least should be held at arms length until the most serious of these charges are answered satisfactorily.
@@Never_Enough_MetalThe farm ain't about that kinda stuff, and given his release schedule, probably predates all the criticism.
@@ProjectFarmYour reviews are always appreciated. The timing is just something between random and awkward, because of all the stuff going on with LTT. They even moved the launch of the new limited-edition screwdriver, because of what is going on.
But honestly, this doesn't affect you, nor your reviews.
he has no idea wtf you are talking about. he is a normie outside the tech drama land
PF do what PF do. he dont pay no mind
Already leaving my thumbs up because Project Farm never fails to deliver the goods
Thank you very much!
Excellent review as always! Lots of eye opening results.
I have a Kobalt ratcheting stubby that's probably 25 years old or more. It has in-handle storage (came with 6 bits + room inside to store more loose), forward/reverse/lock positions and magnetic bit retention. It's about 4" long. Pretty standard stuff. But it has one feature none of the screwdrivers reviewed here have - the entire tool is metal! Aluminum handle, butt cap and adjustment collar, with steel bit holder. The only plastic is the bit holder inside the cap. Oh and it only cost about $10. My only issue with it was that the "rubberized" handle grip inserts (more of a plastic) hardened up and became slippery so I pulled them out. I need to fill in the gaps with some high durometer rubber or maybe some JB weld. I'd love to see how it compares to the ones reviewed, but I don't want to destructively test it. You can't get these anymore, though maybe find one on eBay. I've used it on countless projects over the years and its small size lends it to bring tossed in the glove box in a car or even a seat pack on a bicycle. It'll be a sad day when it gives up the ghost! I'll list the part # when I can find the driver, it's laying around here somewhere...
Thanks! Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate your videos so much, would love to see a comparison of toolboxes ie. snap on, husky, US general etc.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Love to see how popular your channel has become. You deserve it.
Thanks!
Excellent video, really interested in the top 3 performers even if that price scares me a little. Keep up the amazing work as always.
Thanks, will do!
I guess it's a matter of buy once, cry once. If it's a tool you really need and will use a lot, paying a bit extra for something that works better and lasts longer is well worth it.
Then again, if it's a once or once in a while thing, going to the likes of Biltema or Jula here in Scandinavia, Harbor Freight or Canadian Tire in North America or your local equivalent might be cost effective. Think of it as price per use.
Thanks for all the testing you do. You've influenced more than a few decisions I've made. Have you tested any of Northern Tool's brands? Their hand tool brands are "Klutch" and "Ironton." I think they also sell their own brand of pressure washers and generators, but I don't know what they call them.
Great test as always. Thanks!
Thanks and you are welcome!
I've been wanting to see you do tests with demolition screwdrivers for a while now would be very interesting since they're made to withstand a lot
Thanks for the suggestion.
Great video as always, but one thing i noticed is that the LTT handle was against the vice reducing backlash in the shaft.
I'm pretty sure his test there is for play between the ratchet and the handle, so it doesn't matter if it's against the vice.
Excellent review. Since firewood season is approaching, how about a review of one of the Holtzfforma/Farmertec clone saws against the Stihl version. Could also do a comparison of their chains as well. HIPPA also has some inexpensive chains as well.
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
