Here's a little story: Tom Ritchey, mountain bike pioneer, designed a seatpost (the bit that holds the seat to the frame of a bike) back in the late 80s for his line of mountain bikes. He got Nitto, a famous and high-quality manufacturer of bike parts in Japan, to make them, and put his name on them. They were pricey, because of Nitto's famous attention to detail and quality of materials and construction. Despite the $$$, they sold really well, and became an iconic design. Pretty soon, a really large bike component company in Taiwan, Hsin Lung, copied the design, reasonably well, perhaps cutting a few corners, but they were ok: they didn't break or fall apart or anything like that. Ritchey (the company, not Tom himself) had stern words with them about patent infringement, etc. But they didn't sue Hsin Lung: they gave them the contract to produce the seatposts, with a few design tweaks to raise the quality of their counterfeit items to an acceptable level. Nitto were understandably angered & chagrined, but there was nothing they could do, as their production costs were ⅓ higher than the Taiwanese company. Looks like good quality sneaker fakes are treading (hrm) the same path . . .
Buying replicas isn’t the solution, he’s not saying that. He’s saying be more mindful of what you purchase and don’t just buy something because of the hype around it. Invest in high quality materials and don’t fall victim to hype.

Probably my favorite sneaker related video on here. I been waiting for someone who is knowledgeable in this field to do a video educating folk and this one is perfect. 👏🏽
I said the same thing to one the owner of sole about fakes when the trophies came out. He brushed it off and days later news outlets reported that nike fired a lady who was a higher up Nike because of her son’s retailing operation. Thanks for confirming my suspicions about the fashion industry. You have my respect.
These big brands producing overpriced stuff using bad materials made me stop buying branded clothes/shoes. Last pair of sneakers i bought was a no-brand white 30Euros sneakers that lasted me through the entire summer and have no signs of wearing. I could have paid 150euros for branded garbage that would have probably lasted me the same or less. I don't care about brands anymore because i feel like i'm being robbed.
Damn, I thought he was a skateboarder haha. Reselling is dying because people are savvy to an increasingly better quality rep market and refuse to spend ridiculous amounts of cash on crapoy mass produced sneaks
From what I've seen in articles, it's the same for luxury handbags - they're making fake Birkins that are nearly indistinguishable from legit Hermès ones.
@@audacityhour3104ya theres some guys ive seen on insta that hand make any of these Jordans with high quality material for like 500. @rodwallace6237 there's dude that makes custom full grain leather jordans for a little less than the $2.5K. At least with the full grain, you get actual quality
If anything, you've taught us a greater life lesson. Things are only worth what you MAKE or CONSIDER them to be worth. That could apply to sneakers, clothes, cars, etc. I used to be so much into sneakers when it was just camping outside of a store. Once raffles started it kinda killed the culture for me. You started hearing qeird stories about store employees gaming the system. The masses had caught up to the culture. Soon after raffles came the bots. I had a rule of not paying over retail for sneakers with maybe a few exceptions. So my journey was basically done once resale culture became so prevalent.
Watching these vids has really changed my perspective on the sneaker world and Nike to be precise. I haven’t bought a pair of Nikes since I started watching this channel.
A fool and his money can be easily parted but the real irony is that the quality of the fake's leather was probably better than if you'd deconstructed the real deal from Nike.
@@ghostofk2 Actually no, it's NOT confirmed, a real pair have not been deconstructed, assumption does not equal confirmation, but it is likely based on other Nike shoe teardowns.
@@ghostofk2 Yeah, that's a fair point. The DM teardowns 100% proved WHY they're now junk but I didn't need Rose Anvil to tell me that, my feet, a 20 year old pair (finally retired this year!) and newer pairs had already told me. Gotta love this channel :)

Where did you buy them from? Bc I have serious doubts about GOAT and StockX getting it right. It definitely feels like they're just passing through a bunch of 1:1 replicas.
GOAT & Ebay are legit. StockX is having legal issues so not buying is good for a variety of reasons. This person said they got it shipped from "overseas", so they prob bought it from some rep maker without knowing...@@GOD999MODE
I always like Jordans for its legacy but as an adult I realized that Nike really cheaps out. I am so glad you and others are making them aware we don’t want that. I heard somewhere that before Jordan they were bottom of the barrel over Adidas and now I see that may have always been true.
Just as an aside: Rose Anvil is now a verb. It means to cut a shoe/boot in half. Steve, over at Bedo's cut a really expensive leather boot in half. BY HAND. With a utility knife. He was really enjoying the process. He understands the joy you get at doing it. It is his newest video. Dead middle of the video. You may have heard this already. I wonder if sawing a woman in half is a 'Rose Anvil'?
Amazing video.... I had no clue these were fake till you said. It really opened my eyes. .... Thankyou for the information. You're doing great work and providing a useful service. Especially in the age we live now, where the dollar doesn't go as far... I want to make sure I'm spending mine in the right places.... Much obliged 🙏
I question whether there are still any legitimate authentic pairs left to be sold on the resale platforms. It feels like 1:1 fakes are getting pushed through now. The way it seems like there's an infinite supply of the TS1 Mochas leads me to believe GOAT and StockX aren't getting it right.
I used to spend more time than I would care to admit on the rep sneakers subreddit, and TS1s were by far and away the most commonly posted shoe for QC. I actually did suspect that these were fake immediately after seeing them and I am glad that I was proven correct (but also a bit sad that I was actually able to recognize it). Main flaws that stand out to me personally is that the swoosh seems too sunken down, and the color of the shoe itself is a bit too dark (though this also could be a lighting thing, etc). The toebox is also a bit high but sometimes this does happen with real pairs. I dont own these reps, but I remember looking through hundreds of peoples posts wanting QC on this pair. I love my reps (nearly identical shoe for a fraction of the price) but it really is crazy looking back on how ridiculous times were, and still continue to be to some extent
same regarding r/repsneakers. I haven't LCed a pair in so long I didn't even notice lol. Personally Ive been saying for years on my rep reviews that I don't care about flaws because the average person and average sneakerhead can't tell a rep and retail apart. Sure for the review I'll point out every single little difference but personally I don't care.
@@NonLegitNation2 Yep pretty much, as a newbie I was super cautious of all the little possible mistakes and flaws, but as the collection grew I started to realize that pretty much nobody cares, and thats even assuming that they would be able to spot a flaw in the first place. Unless you are in like high school, you arent going to get approached by a random in public who comes up and says 'hey ackshully your toebox is high and the stitching around the front panel is 1 mm off of what normal retails look like'. Worrying about that stuff is a bad mindset to get into, as long as they dont have any egregious flaws, wear with confidence!
I think reselling collapsed just because of bad economy right now, even things like bmx bikes that would have otherwise sold out a couple of years ago, are sitting more often now
I was a sneaker head back in the day but I stopped during my junior year of college around 2013 because I had to get my priorities in check. I’m glad I stopped when I did. One of my other brothers continued the sneaker flipping game way longer than he should have until he realized it wasn’t worth it. It can be fun but the market isn’t what it used to be.
I was hoping you would make a video like this 😂 I was curios as to why the money spent didnt move and also the mentioning of the convincing tag but I never thought this were fake. If these were $30 imagine a better quality one
This is why I watch your channel and why I believe it's valuable. I don't have the money to buy and test all these different boots and shoes, and I never have had that kind of money. Because of that, I want to make sure my purchases are as cry-once as possible, and on something good quality. I'd see the simple fact that these Nikes are made in China as the reason to never buy them. I sold my pair of Nikes because they fit like trash and were made in China, and I was shocked at how much I was able to resell them for. Anyways, I thank the Rose Anvil crew for these fantsstic and informative videos, and one day I will buy your products!
I had a few suspicions they were fufu but I am actually blown away at how similar the inside of the reps are. To be fair tho, you're not going to be able to tell with the higher end reps
Reselling is dying anecdotally from the flooding of the market. There's like 10 different color ways almost identical to the Chicago or UNC. It's ridiculous. Why not just release the OG?
I personally have about $80k worth of sneakers 👟 Every since watching this channel, I've stopped buying Nike/Jordan's, cause the bullshit materials and lies these companies feed people, they're not worth it. So i started buying boots instead, at least you know they're built to lsst and real leather !
I agree, even tho the main reason imo is that it’s just stupid to spend that much for a pair of shoes if you’re an average person. Ofc if you’re a millionaire then this doesn’t apply. But I don’t see the point of spending so much and then not even wearing the shoes cuz you’re afraid of ruining em
Even if it was better, they're not worth 2.5k And let's be honest, this channel has already explored enough Nike's to determine that no model, no matter how "premium" they advertise it, is truly good quality.
@@IcarusSuite I wasn't trying to justify the price tag. I was more curious as to whether this fake actually used better quality materials than the genuine product, which would only make the resale value more ridiculous.
I agree with almost everything you say : why pay 2,5k for a shoe worth 5% of this price when you can buy a rep more or less at the original retail price ... However, for the sake of the video, i would have been interested in a analysis of the authentic shoe too
Holy cow, PLOT TWIST!!! Ngl, I have some rep'd Yeezy Boost 350's that I bought while I was in China. I've been wearing them about a year and not a single person has come close to spotting them... or at least not enough to actually point them out. Only thing I would say is that the sizing feels a little off... but, uhh... Addidas sizing always is. Anyway - all of that said, I think I might look for where you might have got these Travis Scotts because if nothing else, that colour way is sick.
Also I'm waiting for you to get 1mil. Im surprised Micheal (Iron Snail) isn't above 100k. I started watching him at like 23k. Hes above 60k now but i think if he spent more time making videos and put out more, then he'd have tons more subs. But I know he has a job and is building a clothing company so I give it to him for his creativity and time he already puts into his videos. The fact he doesn't release them as often makes it even more awesome when he eventually does. But I love all the Rose Anvil channels. Subbed and notifs for all 3? Or how many is there now lol.
I'm always surprised what kids will go crazy over. I grew up wearing Cortez Classics and Dickies with a pressed t-shirt. All these newer shoes have never looked that good to me. But then again we didn't spend half our day in front of advertising.
i stopped buying Nike shoes year ago. they fall apart far too quickly. I remember having these red ones years ago and when the sole came away from the upper after a year, it felt like they ‘should have lasted longer than that’.
Another issue is that reps companies do their best to make sure that their product, even fake, is at highest quality, and I am talking about AAA Fakes, whereas Nike, doesnt care about quality as they already are an established company. From this point of view I would buy AAA Replicas for 250$ then pay 2500$ for these
Thank you so much for the wonderful work you do and being a voice for people to know what they are really getting. If you don't mind a suggestion, Allbirds Wool Runners might be worth considering to review one day.
Another factor to consider around the resale market is the effect of the COVID pandemic. You had tons of people stuck at home, unable to spend their money on things like vacations and outings, with their full attention on their computers lookin at StockX and SNKRS, plus the covid stimulus checks boosting the market. Influencers also had more eyes on them so you saw them leading the masses towards things like Pokemon cards and sneakers. Now that the stimulus checks have run out, lock down is over, the economy has cooled off, and inflation has been high for a while, you see people with their financial attention divided with other priorities, and just generally having less money to throw around overall. So these "frivolous" spending markets are all suffering, just like in any economic downturn. I also dispute that the sneaker market is in trouble because the "intrinsic" value of the materials and the build don't match the prices. Of course they don't, even at MSRP they don't match. People value these shoes highly for their rarity and distinctive look. When you wear them, people know what you are wearing and how hard they were to acquire. This does mean you have a good point regarding fakes, though, that's definitely true.

@RoseAnvil would cut in half a pair of Danner Acadia or Danner Recon boots? I just sent my first pair to get recrafted and picked up a second pair to break in.
I work at a thrift store, and I see reselling as recycling. There’s so many brand new or slightly used things people can buy, and if 4 people can get a use out of one shoe I don’t see the issue. Thrift stores are resellers, goodwill is the only large non profit organization. Everyday people sell clothes for 15$ that we are gonna sell for 50$. Most people aren’t interested in buying something 50$. When they can 5 things for that price. So it sits for a few weeks until someone who thinks they can resell it comes in, buys it along with 3 other shoes that have been sitting. That dude waits 1-2 months to make 120$ off our 50$ item. Which doesn’t go to some big company using up more materials.
The same argument can be said about any collectibles. A baseball card is just a card a retro game is just a game a painting is just a painting. Sneaker collecting and the resell market won’t go anywhere. The stimmy money bubbled every market. Cars. Houses. Collectibles crypto. The list goes on. The sneaker market is finally going back to pre pandemic prices. And that’s just fine
That's why I started buying chinese copies, 20 bucks for basically the same looking shoe, and I don't even care what the other people can think, the only shoes that I'm spending on is running shoes bc I run half marathon, nothing else

I just watched the timberland vs cat boot video. I would like to see a cheap work boot vs a military boot video. I own a pair of belleville military boots that I paid $54 for on ebay new. The tongue says"authorized by the us army for flight and combat vehicle use" hw-fr boot whatever that means. These type boots are always available by companies like belleville, mccrae, bates for around that type of money. Why would I spend more money for cats or timberlands, etc? Are they a better boot? A seperate question is that I have come across more than one claim that ripple sole boots are the most comfortable boots for an "urban" environment. So a boot that looks like a paddle tire is the most comfortable for concrete. It make sense in one respect as the boot should bend with your foot better.

Looks like good quality sneaker fakes are treading (hrm) the same path . . .
Love it! This justifies everything I’ve been saying about reps for the last year or two. Replicas all day! Screw resellers
Hey man. Screw you. Resell gang folyfe!
Buying replicas isn’t the solution, he’s not saying that. He’s saying be more mindful of what you purchase and don’t just buy something because of the hype around it. Invest in high quality materials and don’t fall victim to hype.
@@SJP43Im surprised people are so willing to give money to crime lords in Asia. The same people who make fake nikes human traffick and sell drugs, I don’t mind the shoe but its who you are paying
@@BigFatSeal10 lmao like nike is any better with their sweat shops
@@zipzip8239 Its same as anything else made in China, the money goes to huge state funded companies who own many factories. There are some standards nothing like here but with fakes it goes straight to criminal orginizations who run the real nightmare sweatshops that are talked about. Nike ain’t enslaving people in their factories, many conterfeit makers do use slavery
I honestly couldn’t tell they were fake until they were cut in half. The air unit was all over the place, these videos are fantastic!
I don't care about brands anymore because i feel like i'm being robbed.
rose anvil be dropping the biggest plot-twist ever
Damn, I thought he was a skateboarder haha.
Reselling is dying because people are savvy to an increasingly better quality rep market and refuse to spend ridiculous amounts of cash on crapoy mass produced sneaks
Rule number one... Comment after watching 😂
From what I've seen in articles, it's the same for luxury handbags - they're making fake Birkins that are nearly indistinguishable from legit Hermès ones.
Man, you just ridiculed yourself so hard
Reps aren’t the inherent benefactor of education - buying better shoes that spawn and maintain value is the true key here, sir.
$2,500? You could buy some seriously good shoes for that price, several pairs as well.
You could buy a cheap car for that much, lol.
You might be able to find somebody to build you a bespoke pair for that.
@@audacityhour3104ya theres some guys ive seen on insta that hand make any of these Jordans with high quality material for like 500. Still expensive but nothing compared to paying a reseller and actually getting quality. But people are so brainwashed they gotta have real Nikes even if the quality is shit and a crazy resell price
You can invest and retire and live good instead of being a slave your whole life. Haha
Nike sb’s are about the best quality shoes Nike makes right now…. But the hype around them is stronger than Jordan’s imo.
A fool and his money can be easily parted but the real irony is that the quality of the fake's leather was probably better than if you'd deconstructed the real deal from Nike.
It actually is better than Nike's, confirmed by this video.
@@ghostofk2 Actually no, it's NOT confirmed, a real pair have not been deconstructed, assumption does not equal confirmation, but it is likely based on other Nike shoe teardowns.
Yeah, strickly speaking, you are right. But knowing Nike, I still say it's confirmed.@@thingi
@@ghostofk2 Yeah, that's a fair point. The DM teardowns 100% proved WHY they're now junk but I didn't need Rose Anvil to tell me that, my feet, a 20 year old pair (finally retired this year!) and newer pairs had already told me. Gotta love this channel :)
hahaha, no shit@@thingi
Last Christmas, I bought 3 pairs of Air Jordan's for family members overseas, and shipped them. Overall I paid $1500.00. A few weeks later my wife's sister, who owns an upscale clothing/shoe store calls me and let's me know that they were fake. That was such a bummer.
Reminds me of when I gave some poor dude $100 for his gold rings because he needed gas money, but those were fake. 🤡
Were they special editions or something? That's a lot of money for Jordans.
Where did you buy them from? Bc I have serious doubts about GOAT and StockX getting it right. It definitely feels like they're just passing through a bunch of 1:1 replicas.
GOAT & Ebay are legit. StockX is having legal issues so not buying is good for a variety of reasons. This person said they got it shipped from "overseas", so they prob bought it from some rep maker without knowing...@@GOD999MODE
where did you buy them from?
Thank you for making this! Hopefully more people wake up and realize that buying because of hype is stupid 😅
The twist in this video was such a great idea !!!

I'm interested too 😂

I always like Jordans for its legacy but as an adult I realized that Nike really cheaps out. I am so glad you and others are making them aware we don’t want that. I heard somewhere that before Jordan they were bottom of the barrel over Adidas and now I see that may have always been true.
Dang. Clever. You still did the backscatter or some other hyped one already anyway to show it's minimally better.
Please do more reviews of hyped shoes.
I love the color combo and use of nubuck. I’d spend $150 on shoes made using this material. I wouldn’t even need them to be Nike.
Apparently you only need to pay $30 or so.
I'm actually curious to know where you bought the fakes. I used to be heavily against owning them, but now I'm considering a pair for 30$

EXPOSED! Great job on this video. Well done, sir. You are a true asset to the sneaker community.
Where did you buy those fakes? I could use an affordable pair
Love the concept of this video. I wouldnt have suspected it was a fake if i hadnt already read some of the comments right at the start of the video.
I think reselling collapsed just because of bad economy right now, even things like bmx bikes that would have otherwise sold out a couple of years ago, are sitting more often now
That ending actually caught me off guard I never wouldve guessed they were fake
This is an awesome video. Keep up the great work.
Great video. Ppl have been saying this , don’t get duped .. by corporations or resellers
Well, I'm questioning the air unit shape. But since you didn't mention it was fake in the beginning, I believe it was legit
Man you got me there. What a plot twist. This in one of your best video so far. Can’t wait for more contents like this one.
Need to see some Rick Owens
My first pair of reps were Travis Scott’s for like $75 and the quality was incredible
5:01 how tight are you gonna go with the laces?
That swerve at the end 🤯
What annoys me about that shoe is that I just like the colors of the shoe. I dont give a sh*t about him 😅
I’ve been waiting for this video for so long!!! Thanks
I had no idea they where fake
I would buy a car instead 😂😂thank you for your honesty
I had a few suspicions they were fufu but I am actually blown away at how similar the inside of the reps are. To be fair tho, you're not going to be able to tell with the higher end reps
Great video, also great to point out for sneakers these materials can be easily replicated.
Best video yet. In my opinion. This hits the nail on the head. And the twist at the end was perfect. Great video
C'mon, let's not be ignorant! All Nike's are 'hyped up".
Definitely hyped... but maybe they actually buy fakes and sell them as real at this point 😂
Which would result in better quality lmfo
One of your best videos so far! would love to see more fake vs real comparison
Watching these videos taught me to stop buying sneakers altogether. They're good for running. For everything else I'll wear my boots
Reselling is dying anecdotally from the flooding of the market. There's like 10 different color ways almost identical to the Chicago or UNC. It's ridiculous. Why not just release the OG?
I personally have about $80k worth of sneakers 👟
Every since watching this channel, I've stopped buying Nike/Jordan's, cause the bullshit materials and lies these companies feed people, they're not worth it. So i started buying boots instead, at least you know they're built to lsst and real leather !
Why? 😂
You could use your money to invest in American lithium stock... it will hit it's peak around December, giving you at least 70% profit
If these are fake, then how do we even know if the actual release uses even this quality of leather compared to their usual?
Even if it was better, they're not worth 2.5k
And let's be honest, this channel has already explored enough Nike's to determine that no model, no matter how "premium" they advertise it, is truly good quality.
I recently jumped into your channel and I gotta say. You are a very sensible man, sir. Awesome arguments.
Love the transparency and detailed videos! subscribed!!
i stopped buying Nike shoes year ago. they fall apart far too quickly.
From this point of view I would buy AAA Replicas for 250$ then pay 2500$ for these
Love the plot twist!!! Keep bustin the bubbles!!
Thank you so much for the wonderful work you do and being a voice for people to know what they are really getting.
If you don't mind a suggestion, Allbirds Wool Runners might be worth considering to review one day.
where can I get the fake ones?
Once again great review, will you able to a review of Nike air Jordan 1 goretex heard they are pretty durable and strong when compared to normal aj1
Hey can you do a video on republic boot co? Id love to hear your opinion on their boots.
Housing market like that too. House that should be $60k selling for $200k or $500k.
Yeah. the ROÍ goes crazy for extremely sought after sneakers though
@@joeybaseball7352 the small house next to me 1943 built 2 bed 1 bath .2 acre lot in town with fenced back yard sold in 2015 for $57,000 then 2018 $60,000. It's not run down and very solid home. She's a nice RN and got a son in high school. In 15 years I'll need a roof and paint job but it is a cute home. Next to her is the same and it sold for in late 2019 $170,000 and her is much nicer bigger yard and just more better all the way 1100sq ft verse 980sq ft too. Then you got mine about during late Covid in 2020 was $115,000 for 3 bed 2 bath on a huge yard taking up most of the block .8 acre brick built in 1986 with all the upgrades done in 2018 from AC, new windows, all new flooring, kitchen overhaul, bathroom remodel and more. Now I'm told I house sell for $180,000 or more but I like having a under $600 a month house payment and newer barn in the back yard.
where did you buy this replica?
Amazing video. I'm not big on the Travis Scott's or resell over 400-500 (still alot in all fairness) but you got me man.
Hey great Video. Are you trying to do an Jordan 1 Series? Another crazy one is the Air Dior but the current StockX Price is minimum 7 K $.
That's why I started buying chinese copies, 20 bucks for basically the same looking shoe, and I don't even care what the other people can think, the only shoes that I'm spending on is running shoes bc I run half marathon, nothing else

Its crazy that the fakes have better leather than Nike 😂 . I love this stuff. Been watching about a year and you turned me on to the Snail who turned me on to Japanese raw denim selvedge jeans and I've always been into fashion, and I wear boots for work. Looking for a Beckett Simonon or Thursday for a dress boot. But I have learned so much about whats in a boot since than that I would love to personally thank you for it, since thats my bread and butter.
Man that was fantastic, yes you got me, hope the “real or fake” becomes part of your video moving forward!
Where can I get fake jordans?
You’re awesome man. It is so true that they make fake that looks exactly like the original with the same material and also high quality fabric.
Honestly I can't afford to even have the Travis Scotts rn so is it possible to get this one to buy? Which is this exact one I can find to actually purchase for the time being
I did note they looked a little flat looking but I assumed you bought a used pair. Had no clue they were fake. Especially with the stash pocket. Good video guys!
You should make a test that tests traction of the different shoes that you test
