5:23 oh, very interesting. i was seeing this for a bit in some FPVoDs a while ago from a lot of the top tosses, second stargate whenever you can scout the building lair before the first corsair comes out. at that time the idea was to go for heavy zealot/corsair pressure and take control of the game; let's see where stork takes this! 7:48 muta opening probably puts zerg behind, but still on just the 1 gateway from stork, and no citadel, so this looks like it's something a little different than what i had been expecting, at least so far 8:15 2nd gate, citadel, could be going into speed zealot corsair? the 6 hatch hydra pre-storm busts were often really struggling with this style, as i remember it, when it was more popular, maybe... a year ago? maybe 9 months, at least, is when i remember seeing it a lot in FPVoDs, i think mostly the thing zergs were trying to do against this, with intermittent success, was to take advantage of the fact that things like dragoon range and observers were often very late, in this style, and tried to shut down the protoss aggression with lurkers and then go into a long game where protoss is late to get to their ideal composition. 9:15 OOOF overlords being cancelled because there's corsairs hanging out over them 9:40 CHRIST that's a lot of sairs, pretty late zealot speed here, and no chance yet for lurkers from zerg, with the late den, hydra speed not even finished yet. strange position. 10:20 WOW hydra range just starting, stork really did well with this heavy, heavy corsair play, now going up to 6 gates, too, this could end with zealot corsair. 11:08 i'm surprised to see missile attacks rather than carapace for zerg here, not sure what it means exactly. starts lurkers as quick as he can but with how late that den was, it's gonna be a while. honestly, i'm worried there will simply be enough zealots to hold this, with how much delay there was with the early corsair aggression + the muta tech delaying hydra upgrades. 12:00 yeah, as mentioned, 6 gate speed zealot off of 2 stargate corsair pressure, there just doesn't seem to be any hydra timing before storm. this is the build that had me saying, a while ago, that zergs should consider going 3 hatch hydra more often than going lair and spire, simply to prevent this part of the game from happening. 12:23 storm finishes, stork feels safe, IMMEDIATE goon range and robo for observer, good move. AND QUEEN SCOUTS THE ROBO AND IS OUT! very nice game from stork, bad luck on the opener from queen, thanks RT!
Was it actually over? He was ahead on drones. I know his bust did not work but supply was close and he had a good economy. It probably was not a great position but was it unplayable for Zerg?
same feel, imo to early GG. Even there were no storm casts. On the other hand i got too small level, maybe it was unplayable? But i don't see it at that point, it was hard for sure and Stork was ahead.
This is the comment I'm looking for! I don't understand why zerg rage quit like a noob. It's not like P is at his home and stormed 20 drones, or Zerg found out P has a mining 3rd base. P still needs to gather army and come out. Z just needs to win 1 big fight and P's base would mine out. Queen can easily refill with 3 bases and open 4th, play lurker contain game and dry stork up, or hide 12 hydras on the side and snipe the base when stork moves out.

Stork is not going to have resources to build corsairs, every dive he took to kill overloards, he would lose a few Corsairs. Think about this: 8 corsairs kills overloard and lost only 2. Then next time only 6 corsairs kills overlord will lose 3 or more because it takes longer to kill now, then he only has 3 or2 left, which can't even dive anymore. Zerg player quit due to rage clearly, he was obssessed in killing P and those zealots just won't die. He is not behind on workers, or got any drops, so there is 0 reason to leave the game when he only fails an attack. Zerg has 15 workers on each base, so it's full saturation, he has at least 6 hatches, so refill should be fast enough. Notice he let the DT killing hydras while fighting zealots, he noticeds it but just refuse to move the hydras back, that's a sign of tilting I know exactly how it felt, inches away from breaking the base. The correct play is move hydra back together with overloard. Stork will move in with zealots + corsair. Zerg should get 2 sunkens at home, hydra focus fire on corsairs and leave some storks zealots alive, sunkens can deal with it, pull some drones to stall for sunkens if have to. P has fewer and expensive units, so when P is turtling, it's hard to break, but as long as P goes offensive and strech the battle line longer, now is in Zerg's favor, especially when P is getting 3rd Nexus up, that's the weakest time for P. Good Z player fake pressure 2nd and put lurkers between P's 2nd and 3rd base path to cut reinforce, then move in P's 3rd while they get third up and running. So P either have to deal with lurker and lost 3rd, or walk through the lurker field and lost half health on the way. I've seen way too many ZvP games on eOnzerg's channel, this Z is simply on tilt and rage quit 100%. He just needs to regroup and contain the P, be patient snipe a few high templars that moves slower than zealots when they move out to open third. P's army has no dragoon, now is heavily based on storm landing, so the mobility is very poor. Z hydras can just play the kiting game and harrass his third nexus while hatching own 4th base. Since P's 2nd has no cannon walls, when he is protecting 3rd, lings can play lot of nasty moves on the main. Strok plays bluff game unlike lot P players, the way he moves his army feels like he is very confident and still have a lot more at home. He dives and he run towards your face even with bare minimm units. Most P player would be scared to move out zealots in a choked bad positon when seeing so many hydras out there and let hydras bust out the 3 front buildings. i think he made Zerg feel scared, but in fact stork also has nothing left pretty much.
I always loved using corsair's disruption web vs Zergs. If you already have 8+ corsairs I think its a worthwhile upgrade. Can even makes a big diff when fighting the mutas. You go early corsairs muta defense and overlord hunting, into a couple of DTs to defend vs the hydra bust and which makes Zerg use overlords all over the map, then into mass zelots + a couple of goons and DTs with your corsairs casting disruption web on the hydras. Its really funny when they stack all their overlords under a bunch of hydras to protect them and you bust all of them in 3 secs while taking no dmg because of web XD
Dweb is very underrated skill. It's born for the mass zerg ground defense. Even in center fights, cast Web in the middle of hydra group, then storm outside of d web, hydras will be either not attacking or get stormed.
even 1 DT, forced Zerg to use overlord nearby front line. Which could help to kill them with corsair which protoss had, and hadn't any super use for them anymore. I Believe if protoss would lose corsairs somehow, then DT wouldn't be so effective.
I wonder if your hatred for Stork was because he was a bit of a Terran killer back then as I recall. I always had the perception that stork’s pvt and bisu’s pvz would combine for the 1 best Protoss of that era.
So if the zerg goes spire then the protoss can scout and counter with x2 stargates plus mass zealots? Then the zerg can go spire just for scourges skipping mutas and straight into lurkers then camp the natural entrance of the protoss to counter the counter of protoss? And when the protoss finally goes into observers and dragoons plus storm no longer making any corsairs then the zerg can make mutas again to harass his probes whenever protoss wants to leave the base? This is some crazy mind game...
Trapping the probe with the corsair really makes them so much more effective :) but stork should have defended the muta with his corsair there was no reason to move out there. Huge blunder.

I agree there was more play to be had especially with the number of hatcheries. I saw he went from only having 46 supply cap to going up to 142 so he probably burned through his larva to make overlords and then was concerned about a counter attack.

He had committed everything into busting the front with hydras. Expanding is hard with that amount of corsairs+DTs, he didn't get lurker tech. Basically he had 20 hydras against 5 storms, Stork would have crushed him.

I appreciate the map explanation but wouldnt you think for a remastered game they would have been able to add a new ramp for snow? Also if its hard for protoss to see buildings warp in wouldnt they edit the color so its more visible? idk i just want to see more variety it gets a little old witht he same 2 different themed maps. Shoot we dont even see dark protoss maps either.....or volcanic....

If you actually lose to shine you never would have stood a chance of winning the SSL anyway. A champ player has to be able to deal with cheese from lesser skilled players and the strategic cheese that can get thrown in during a series. If you can't then you are just not well rounded enough to be a champ.

I've been always a big fan of Stork since I started watching Starcraft league. His play makes me calm and in peace for some reason.
