The third wasn't late, it was actually the second time he had to build his third nexus. The first one started right on time, but had to be cancelled because it got attacked by vultures while you were following the first reaver.
Also noticed. Scanned the section for exactly this ⤴️ comment:) Kind of a big deal in addition to all the other „failed“ Protoss moves in the first 9 minutes
Whats interesting about that central mineral line is that the Protoss player was able to take their equivalent with no harass. Surely rotating down four or so vultures would have found value there and against the other distant expansions up north?
Watched to the biter end! That's a really tough map for Terran. Not sure how you're supposed to take a 3rd unless you're already winning and have your opponent sieged inside his own natural. The map is a maze of twisty little passages, all alike!
What a fool you are! I am a god! How can you kill a god? What a grand and intoxicating innocence. How could you be so naive? There is no escape. No recall or intervention can work in this place. Come, lay down your weapons. It is not too late for my mercy. Omnipotent, omniscient, sovereign, immutable. How sweet it is to be a god. Persistent arent you? Stupid, this is taking too long. Damn this thing. What are you doing? What are you doing? Fool! Stop! This is the end, the bitter, bitter end.
Watching sad, drawn out endings like that remind me of watching the decay of our society in real time. It feels like we're at the point where there is no coming back, very clearly, but it doesn't stop those 4 SCVs at the one safe base from mining away hopefully. Poignant yet ultimately futile.
Probably a stupid question but would it make sense to build a couple factories at the natural? Feels like no matter where you take your third the reinforcements have to travel so far from the main.
From the Terran perspective would it be beneficial to build a bunker at the hyper exposed mineral only expansion to provide extra DPS between tank shots, as well as extra anti air DPS? Terrans seem to make turrets, use gols, and have tanks in that area anyway, wouldn't consistent marine damage against shuttles and templars be fairly helpful for relatively low cost?
he lost all his marines early and the barracks is usually floating around so its hard to make more marines, they also dont scale as well as protoss gets more armor upgrades so its usually not worth it to make a marine and bunker unless you still have your starting marines
@dj_koen1265 Fair point, and makes sense. I figured it might be helpful if the Marines' survive, but you're right, repositioning and landing your barracks makes it less appealing.
@@briancorbett3600 i think what he could have done is make some extra turrets and a depot behind the mineral line i think all of it is buildable terrain so a tank and some depots and vultures would be hard to break
Invisible units can't be targetted, but you can (if watching closely) see the faint distortion of them moving even without detection. It's why you sometimes see scans that kill early observers.
Protoss does two tech-oppenings (dts and reaver) and does absolutely zero damage. Terran goes 6 fact push. Protoss forget 50% of his army on the corner of the map and still clear terran's push easily. Welcome to StarCraft.
He cleared it with the "forgotten" army and just barely as well. Not spreading out your tanks better came to bite him. For pro gaming just A-moving, laying mines and sieging up is not enough :)
No, strategically Protoss had the upper hand. The Terran was stretched out like the Rhine River. Its supply lines were cut, its front was stalling. It is obvious the Protoss would break the siege by a flank charge which it did.
It's Rain vs a top foreigner lol. Snow kills Artosis by making dark archon, mind controlling his SCV and building battle cruisers. Artosis is also top foreigner.
hey RT! i'm planning to go to korea to see the SSL live next season. do you have any tips/advice for planning a trip around SSL? how to confirm the right dates/schedule? how to make sure i get tickets? any other help?
9:50 it definitely seems bad watching the flow of the game, for rain, but looking at the state, rather than the flow... he's sure got a lot of tech! he's basically already into speed shuttle/storm + gateway army, and +1 is JUST being started now by mihu, because he responded to the DTs with ebay + academy = late armory! i like this maneuvering from rain. although he DOES have to somehow survive this 5 factory with an army supply disadvantage, so that's scary =/ 10:18 mihu better hurry! legs starts, storm will finish before legs, and rain going up to, i believe 7 gates, if all that finishes before the 5 factory gets to the front, this is going to be VERY tough for mihu, with late upgrades! 11:32 uh oh... expansion is being made for mihu but +1 over half done and i don't think i've seen a starport, +2 gonna be even later now, and 8 gates + legs + shuttle speed, storm, and reavers are done, rain is in his midgame shape! if this pressure doesn't somehow get big damage, rain is gonna be on a 5th LONG before mihu can get to +2/+1 and 3 base! 12:00 oooh that starport so late TT can terran try to play 4 base with no 2/1 vs 5 base toss with speed shuttles and storm? it looks like that's where the game is headed! 12:32 6th factory and adding a few more goliaths, which do have range, maybe intending to go 2 tank 4 vulture at a time out of that while adding a 4th? 13:04 push looks over, rain will almost certainly double expand when this is cleared, i think mihu needs another base, now up to 7 factory, hasn't even started a science facility, or even +1 armor at the 1 armory he does have. meanwhile rain is still adding reavers, like he's snow or something! 13:45 a...wraith. ok, let's see it, mihu! 14:52 oh man, 2/1 just starting as the army is cleared, rain will go to 5 and this looks very bad for mihu. no 4th and no +2! 15:37 i think that's the 3rd ebay of the game for mihu, the price we pay for vision! honestly very surprised by the lack of a rain 5th. i guess he knows how weak this terran 3rd can be and just wants to bull it over! 16:51 finally the 5th. thrown away some of his advantage by delaying it so long i think. could have come long before 2/1 if he had taken it when he smashed the army at his 3rd. terran may have time to get a 4th but it'll be tough to defend! (10 seconds later adds the 4th) 17:25 here's that wraith that was built back at 13:45 lol 18:06 mining situation is not great for mihu, but the 4th is about done, needs to be floated, the supplies look pretty good and he finally has 2/1! 19:28 oof, that last engage at terran's 3rd was rough. i don't think rain can break him right away, but i do think he can press terran's 4th and take his own 6th, which MAY be enough to finish the game. 20:49 i really don't know where mihu can continue to grow into, and he's not started 3/2 so he won't be able to tank mode forward anytime soon. 21:55 not to mention he can't even hold on to what he has! oof! 23:34 yup! i'm still here rofl, mihu hanging around making sure rain doesn't run his army into horrible death over the front bridge, and let him back in the game lol I really liked how rain's DT play got him into a really nice tech advantage, since terran delayed the armory for a very long time, and he got into his archives and support bay very quickly, getting all that research done that he needed. I also noticed, i don't think rain ever went over 60 probes, i believe i'm used to protosses playing up around 70 in this matchup Thanks RT!!
Not sure about those Reavers after the DTs. If you already have Templar Archives, why not go all in on HTs? What do you gain with Reavers that you don't have with HTs...like in 9:23, one Storm would have caused so much more damage.
Reavers are better at slowing tank pushes without the support of a big army. HTs are very easy to kill without the proper Zealot legs + ranged goon comp.
