Yeah, I was involved in a civil case and had a solicitor, barrister and a QC on retainer. I said my name, sat down and shut up. I’m paying them a lot of money to talk for me and I’m not going to cost myself more money by saying something stupid, and anything I wanted to say to the plaintiff would have most likely seen an avo being served on me and cost me even more. I did tell my solicitor that I would hold him upside down over the balcony if he even thought of coming to shake my hand once we had settled. I honestly don't think he feels he's done anything wrong. He has some MAJOR charges piled up on him, and all he wants to talk about are the ones he's had dismissed, it sounds on technicalities and some I believe are being refiled. I agree with you it drives me nuts him focusing on his kid's birthday and I think the Judge here tried to say nicely to focus on what's important.

    • @goosebump801

@@wesriggsby3609 This is my concern with Mr. Johnson as well. He’s figured out how to say words to the effect that he’s “not going to do that anymore” and “would never hurt anybody,” without an ounce of sincerity…and up until recently, this must have been working for him to some extent. I hope when his actual substantive hearings come up, the judges look at the big picture and (in addition to any jail time) impose strict bond/probation conditions. I’m thinking:
      - No contact with his children’s mother; visits with his children coordinated by a neutral party
      - No contact with Ms. Kirby
      - Anger management/impulse control/victim impact programs over an extended period, with monitored attendance
      - Frequent enough reporting to keep tabs on him (I think if his probation officer asked him about his kids, Mr. Johnson would easily spill the beans on any violations: he just can’t help himself)
      - Full-time employment, with attendance and behavior monitored by his probation officer
Are these suggestions imperfect? Absolutely! But this revolving door situation seems to be escalating in dangerousness to the community, so something more needs to be done 💐

@@goosebump801 Totally agree, and wish they would do the list! The sad part is he doesn't care or know right from wrong, I honestly believe in his head he can beat the charges so it's no big deal, I guess I can't think like him so it's hard to even understand why he acts like he does. It's very frustrating to watch someone like this, if I was in jail for so many charges and could spend as much time as he could in prison I wouldn't be threatening the DA or trying to get out just for events of my kids, if they get half of this to stick I believe he'll be in prison till his kids are grown!

This whole "but my kids" thing is a shameless and calculated ploy to use your children to get sympathy from the court. How many times have we seen mothers in these courts facing jail time start crying about their kids, when those same kids weren't part of the calculation when the mother decided to do the crime. You can have human empathy for someone who is separated from their kids, but it's no excuse for not facing the consequences of their actions.

Yes, "a certain judge who shall remain nameless" may not like her own sometimes unprofessional conduct rebroadcast and subject to commentary in a public forum. I can respect a judge's efforts to maintain order in her courtroom, but showing impatience, lack of emotional control, and pettiness while holding others to a strict standard is not cool. I wonder if she saw some of these clips and realized how bad she sometimes looks. Atty Bernstein is the picture of a lawyer doing the best he can with this clap sandwich that's landed on his plate.
I'm kind of curious, but it's probably not public record: How many total lawyer-hours have been expended on this man?

I'm surprised she allowed the 10% on bond, considering he threatened an APA. I highly doubt he meant "clap" as in a lawsuit with all the nasty vitriol he spewed around it.

I choked on my water when his attorney tried claiming that "clapping" a person meant suing them. I don't know how the judge kept it together. In the immortal words of Fletcher Reede, "Stop breaking the law, a**hole!"

    Copied from the Urban Dictionary:
    Get Clap
To be murdered/ taken out or taken care of in a violent way.

OMG!! Worth watching for the end! I had wondered if they knew the following they had on TH-cam, I guess they answered that for me! And I love "This part will be on OldSquishyGardener... You're famous with the judge and lawyers!

I think this is the first time I have seen a Magistrate give a shout out to a TH-camr, or any social media. And it seemed rather friendly. On that topic, I like the Magistrate. She engaged the defendant after making sure he understood his rights. There is a chance that this defendant is on the road to behavior modification... taking away the excuse that "the judge didn't listen to me" can help with that.

This is the main problem with the justice system......wishy washy judges trying to mollycoddle defendants who clearly do not respect the courts or those involved in same

Agreed… and I really think the prospect of showing up on TH-cam is partially at fault for the judges acting that way. We want them to be fair, but with a twatwaffle like this defendant, why coddle him at all? Focus on protecting the public, to hell with worrying about his kid’s birthday or letting him jabber on like he’s an attorney.
