I remember hearing this as a kid. It's seared into my memory is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard.

I remember hearing this song after my 8th birthday. Brings back memories for me
I've always been a metal/hard-rock guy, although of course I love other genres. I've been playing this on non-stop for quite a while... I just can't get the melody out of my head! I'm obsessed with Mark Knopfler's guitar work.
It must have been something to have been alive when this music was fresh and new, when you could see legends in concert for ticket prices in the double digits.
I remember following this song in the pre new wave days of early 1979. It was my jam.
