When I first saw the Stones I was hooked. Get Off of My Cloud was the winner💯 this song came out just before my birthday in 1966, May. It became a theme song for me when my brother got killed in Vietnam 1969 3 years later. Black has been my favorite color ever since. The counterculture that the stones represented transcended decades and has continued on through today for even the younger people that have listened to their music. Mick and Keith will always be two of the better songwriting Duos in Rock and Roll history.😉🤘
I’m french, I have to make a présentation for my cinema class around this music. I’ll have to sing it and act a scenario I wrote myself on the music. This is about a musician that have his personnality and loves his art, but he got haters, that want him to stop wear read and want him to wear black instead. At first he doesn’t care that much, but it hurt him that so many peoples want him to change so bad. So he does. He paint his shirts in black, and the next concert he appears in black, acting like he’s never been better, but he’s not really fine. And at the end he sits alone and regret his past himself. I’ll cover myself in true black paint (gouache) tomorrow, wish me good luck ! ⭐️🩸⚫️

This is my favourite Rolling Stones song (and I know many will agree with me). I don't know what, but there's something about this song that just soothes my soul in ways I can't explain. Like, when I listen to it, it's almost a reminder that everything is going to be okay..... Either that or I'm just song crazy
I can totally relate and fully agree. There was a point in my life when I felt the need to press the reset button, and this song was the first move. And somehow it gave me hope that everything will be fine and the energy to go for the solution, to act on it and not just wait, to make things right in my life.
I think it's because the lyrics are sad but the music is strong and the message fanatic. I always liked the part at the end best- "I wanna see it painted, painted, painted BLACK! I wanna see the sun flying out of the sky! I wanna see it black, black as coal, black as night!" (Or the other way around).

I listen to this when I'm deeply depressed. I used to think it reminded me of the love other people have for me, but I think it actually reminds me of the love that's already inside me. It makes sense. This song isn't going to suddenly rewire my brain to feel loved by others. In the moment, my mind can only work with what it already has.
I do the same when I'm depressed, I listen to this song to help me think about what the effects of a self-unaliving would have on my loved ones. It helps, even if just a little bit.
It's a shame... I feel that when Keith Richards and Mick Jagger pass away, the Rolling Stones will be no more, as they are two of the band's most prominent members.
Alright, this one is actually funny. Not funny like it makes me want to laugh like an anime antagonist, but funny like every other meme makes me exhale through my nose
It's now July 26, 2023 and Mick is now 80. I've been listening to Paint It Black since 1966. It's still amazing! I'm a retired sign painter now...and the instructions at work to "Paint It Black" always got us to break into this tune. Love it! and Happy 80th birthday Mick!
Not a bad tune but that's only due to Bryan Jones of course, after he was murdered that was it, if you want music with depth listen to the Beatles and most other groups, this mob are living off one or two tunes 60 year old or so, how many number 1s did they achieve????!!!???😮
The Beatles were the 1st to use the sitar. They got the idea when filming "Help" in the scene with the sitar. As a guitarist, George was fascinated by it.
I remember our family going to a restaurant back in the 60's and my mom gave me and my sister each a dime to play a song on the juke box.. I was trying to be cool and saw The Rolling Stones so picked this song never having heard it. My sister said "you won't like it". Me being the obstinate little shit I was said yes I will. Well, the song freaked me out but then I had to pretended I liked it just to spite her. It was current so i would have been 6 or 7. As I grew older it did become a favorite but I have never forgot that first hearing.
That's such a cool way to hear it for the first time. I can't remember the first time I heard this but I decided to look it up and because I've heard so much good things about it and the song felt so damn nostalgic for some reason. I instantly fell in love

@pizzarollsinurhair from the totally opposite standpoint , my son grew up listening to my Stones stuff , I bought him a toy guitar and he (5 yrs old ) used to walk around the house strumming with a rolled up piece of paper hanging out of his mouth ( keith's cigarette )... F Fwd June 22 I took him to see the Stones at Hyde Park , right up by the stage . Some emotions you just cant put into words .... what a day that was .... I don't know YOU from Adam , just make sure your boy grows up knowing this music . Some bonds can't be broken .

We all have our own views on the lyrics and the sentiment of the song but just appreciate it for what it is ... a timeless classic given to us by a band of superb musicians and song writers. When all the manufactured boy and girl "bands" have long gone, the Stones' music will still be pleasing future generations.

Good songs touch hearts across countries.✨
music unites people, nationality does not matter❣

Me, too. I don't think crazy. Maybe it's the music, confident, pushing on, hard. Like it'll all be ok, in long run. Not sure...
Me too, just can't explain it. I do find it soothing
I wanna see it black, black as coal, black as night!"
(Or the other way around).
