Better action, low profile glass breaker, better asthetics, no proprietary hardware, better value. Microtech sold their souls for sales, and I think sales will increase, especially if they do this with ALL models
All stuff that should have been done years ago.Too little too late imo I daily a Deadlock now. they might get back to second or third place... sitting in like fourth or fifth right now and that's only because the Dirac is such a good edc otf. Microtech set the bar for a long long time but I just don't feel it anymore. Too many better choices....
Somehow more affordable, as well as sleeker and better looking, with better action? I don't know which crossroads Microtech sold their soul at to make this happen, but I'm here for it!
Microtech's fit, finish and attention to detail is absolutely amazing. I own somewhere around 20+..2 combat troodons( gen 1 and 2) 4 ludt's, 5 ultratechs, 3 utx 85, 2 utx 70, 2 older stitches, 1 Dirac delta, older auto and manuel socoms, halo 2...there are a few I can't think of right now.
I just bought a gen 3 single edge drop point for myself for my 30th birthday, and honestly one of the biggest things keeping me away from microtech for so long was proprietary hardware. I know these knives are tough but there is still more going on than a folder, I really want to be able to take it apart and clean it and fix it. I use my knives even expensive ones, its in my pocket working hunting whatever. BIG win by microtech, ultimately pushed me over the edge and secured my FIVE HUNDRED dollars LOL. That and their torture test, 50/50 on those two points made me buy it. No regrets lol
As a side note, I think they're either using a new anodization process or 7075 aluminum for the scales on these, it doesn't etch like any 6061 I've ever had on it, etches exactly like my amphibian though which is 7075.
This new version looks awesome! I think Microtech missed an opportunity here though. They could have put the T8 body screws on the clip side and had an even better show side.
When you see a destruction test video from Microtech. You undestand why it's so expensive. For your descancance, you need a Rolex watch, a Mont Blanc pencil, a Dupont lighter, and a Microtech knife !! ^^
This knife seems like it took a lot of cues from the Kershaw Live Wire. Lighter action, non-proprietary hardware, no huge window breaker, and lighter carry. I think Kershaw ate the Ultratech's lunch with the Live Wire in Magnacut. It's a great knife.
6:59 Microtech must make running changes to their knives. My Combat Troodon Gen 2's (219-1TS) button is the exact same as the Gen 3's. My G2 is dated from 7/23 and the New G3 is 12/23. Measuring them with calipers they are the same width, length, and height. Which is the same button on the new Hera II as well. 🤠👍
I think it's great that Microtech improved the resistance of the switch to be much easier to deploy and retract. I bought both a older style ultratech and a combat troodon and had to send both back because I couldn't hardly deploy them without using 2 hands do to neck problems that have severely weakened my hand and fingers strength. So this is great news for me. How's the action on the Glycon? Is it a heavy switch like the older combat troodon and ultratechs?
Thanks for providing the link! I've been wanting a microtech for years but you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a vendor that accepts PayPal. Still kind of shocked I bought a $500 pocket knife but you only live once right? 😂
PayPal is extremely anti Knife and Anti 2A and uptight about knife laws. They will hold vendors money and even refund it back to the buyer s9 the seller is out both the money and products. They don’t allow their services to be used for firearms purchases and a certain number of knives including OTF . Most venders that sell knives also sell firearms and accessories for such hence the reason many stay away from PayPal no one wants to be stolen from or to have their money froze and withheld
I'm waiting on my pre-order, but what I'm wondering is Microtech says the blade is 4.125 long & that's the same as the Recon 040... So is the blade actually as long?
Hope to get a Medford otf this month. Will look for the new model Combat Troodon #3, as don't have one, but a Ultratech Warhound Marfione is my favorite that I bought second hand. It's the tightest of all.
Are there fake microtech knives out there online? I saw a listing online of a microtech otf for a very cheap price. It had all the markings and is made in the USA . The steel was also the same as on all the other microtech distributors.
It won't let you sign in? I don't understand. What is the username for your patreon account? I can check to see if you're a valid patron but sign in issues are a platform thing. I can't help with that. If u need a refund lmk 👍
So…. A handle that looks cheaper, with kooky looking hood scallops, a lower profile glass breaker that will probably lead to handle damage and/or your hand coming into contact with the surface of broken glass, and a preschooler deployable strength of the drive train button. No thanks.
Misleading thumb shocker I know but all he does is check the size of the screw and there is no tear no test says he bought it but the way he trying to pitch this cheaply made microtech against one with better stying and in house made screw vs one that has been outsourced and probably half made in China sounds alot like a free knife to make a video singing it's praises.

I'm just happy for the improved switch and ease of deployment.

I agree mad about the side texture change though
I've got the little Dirac and I love it. It's one I can actually actuate the switch on and it's small and takes up almost no space.
I think the aesthetics are worse on this one , I miss the look and ergos of the old combat
Somehow more affordable, as well as sleeker and better looking, with better action?
I don't know which crossroads Microtech sold their soul at to make this happen, but I'm here for it!
Just like high point owners sell theirs as soon as they bought the thing 🤣
Just got my Gen III in today. My first ever Microtech… I’m absolutely in love. Excellent video as always MC!
I struggle using the word "affordable" for anything made by Microtech, no matter how sweet they are.
That cut test sold me…good lawd! From a dagger blade?!?! Yeah…gonna be my next grab.
Just got mine from eknives today. The action on this thing is amazing! Definitely worth every penny!
Have one delivering tomorrow and watching this again to tide me over. 😂
Just got mine yesterday. I love it. I’m sure you will too.
@nickaretino5596 glad they are not kinda unobtainium.
My oldest wants a OTF, my youngest wants a bailisong (butterfly) . Love your channel keep on being awesome 👍🏻
I personally love what they did with this gen.

I like every move they made here except the ball bearing clip. But every other change appears to be a tangible improvement.
Hey man I can't find anyone who has done a Combat troodon gen 3 tanto. You should be the first. Love your videos. I wish I could afford one.
UTX-85 is my favorite EDC it’s so slim and quick to deploy it just makes everything so easy and simple!
Always love microtech knives
I preordered one and it shipped yesterday. Can't wait.
Can't wait to see color options on this and the Hera 2!!!
This new version looks awesome! I think Microtech missed an opportunity here though. They could have put the T8 body screws on the clip side and had an even better show side.
Yup, it's even lakckluster when you compare it to the new Hera, but the Hera chassis is not for everyone
Project Farm could probably devise a test to see exactly how much easier it deploys than the previous version.
Love the better deployment. Thanks MC
Is it just me or does Metal do the best Jason Bateman impression out there?
I was gonna say Jack Black
Love the look of these new ones! The minimalist glass breaker on the back perfect!
There’s also the area under the switch that’s changed, to help deal with pocket lint or dirt I guess. They call it a crud cutter.
Got mine earlier this week. It’s got me carrying an otf again. So good all around.
“Prying doors off bomb shelters” 😂😂

The inspiration is probably closer to home: Heretic (Marfione Jr's shop) Manticore X. Love my tanto blade one.
You're probably missing a little weight in the amount of missing steel on the D/E would be my guess unless they changed something else inside too.
Just bought mine(double edged with partial serrations).
Mickey voice was awesome!
I like that troodon you reviewed
Thx for video. I bought one couple years ago & I like it but it does require some thumb effort to deploy it so I may get a newer one.
need the new gen 3 compared to "Guardian Tactical Recon 40 VS Microtech Combat Troodon Gen III"
This is such a weenie length blade. WE need an over 4-5 inch blade. I'll wait until you guys step up....
I personally like the looks and glass breaker of the gen 2. But the tension to close is way better on the gen 3 along with it being cheaper is a plus.
You forgot to mention the dust collector groves underneath the switch.
Will find one waiting for a fully serrated blacked out one . I’ve seen one already wish I could’ve grabbed it. That will be my new EDC. ..
REM Oil has two different types. Make sure you find the dry film version instead of the oil version.
6:59 Microtech must make running changes to their knives. My Combat Troodon Gen 2's (219-1TS) button is the exact same as the Gen 3's. My G2 is dated from 7/23 and the New G3 is 12/23. Glycon is like ultratech, about the same pressure. At least mine are.
@@ericsimmons7941 Man, that is unfortunate for me and the Glycon is the coolest looking OTF microtech makes IMO.

God I love microtechs!!
Thats a much better price point❤
I have a few of the UTX and ultratechs, a infidel and pagan and a few other OTF's, just ordered a gen 3 in tan/serrated blade, THANKS!
You like this or the infidel better
I assume they are updating the ultratech too? I would like to see that revised
Didn’t you introduce a new OTF last year that actually has a usable grip/handle? What was that?
BUT and there is a big BUT, a lot of Microtech lovers, loves Microtech just beacuse the hard deployment :D It feels solid :D
The AKC F20 Is a Cool OTF Awesome Knife The New Microtech OTFs Are Cool Knifes Greetings Pirmin
Great knife,company,n review! Thanks !
I'm waiting on my pre-order, but what I'm wondering is Microtech says the blade is 4.125 long & that's the same as the Recon 040... So is the blade actually as long?
It's definitely not a dual spring, it's a single spring. It's called dual fuel I think is what confused MC. BUT OMG IT'S AWESOME!!!
Hope to get a Medford otf this month. Will look for the new model Combat Troodon #3, as don't have one, but a Ultratech Warhound Marfione is my favorite that I bought second hand. It's the tightest of all.
Did you have to sell your first born to get that Marfione.
@@markp4401
Nope, just don't have any major payments to make but I patiently waited and the price dropped to where I was willing to pay.
Compared to the glycon, which one would you carry more
Decided on the new scarab today!
I hope they do the same changes to the UTX85, ultratech family, for that matter.
After that, there is the lasersaber !! ^^
100 $ cheaper and very good!
I do like the concept of the new combat troodon, I have one but carry it rarely as D/E is not really my bag. Once the S/E drops I’ll get one
They have one
@@Nach0s187 yeah I got one already
Yes glass breaker was the deal breaker for me but good for someone who needs it
I just watch a Microtech video. And it's a Remington oil, as you said. ^^
This one I really like I can’t stand when they put glass breakers on everything I always ground them down
Do you like it better than guardian tactical? Thanks
Any idea how this knife compares to the Scarab II gen 3?
hello my name is Joe and I am FAR from regular. I drive a Toyota camry AND a Ford f-150. I have 2.5 kids and a Labradoodle.
lol I” I haven’t been surviving in a bush with this knife”
Not sure i like it as much. Hope they keep the Gen 2 alive
Was about to order a glykon. But now I'm now so sure
The quintecance of the human tool ..! ^^
Where the hell can I buy this.
Soooo, who has these in stock!? Looking for the full serrated version.
I like the Ultratech, but ly favkrite is the Combat Troodon. But i think i prefer the old one ..! ^;
Are there fake microtech knives out there online?
I saw a listing online of a microtech otf for a very cheap price. It had all the markings and is made in the USA . The steel was also the same as on all the other microtech distributors.
Check out their authorized dealers on their website and you should be good to go
My old one is very hard to Deploy i have been waiting for an easier push , looks like They have did it .
Mine was very hard to actuate. I put some rem oil in, maybe a bit too much. Took a while to wipe down the excess. But now it’s good!
How is the blade play on this one?
I’ll wait for the hellhound blade
Well you sold me on the spot with some items
Where’s the serial number?
Seeing these are cheaper feeling and not as robust as g2…. Anyone confirm?
I own both. They dont feel any less robust. Just easier to fire
Does the button deployment still rattle? 🤔
Mine does not rattle…
The first thing I noticed was the aesthetic on this one has definitely changed to something more along the lines of what his son is making at heretic
well worth the 450$ feels amazing, got the tanto and cant wait to abuse tf out of it at work
I like the Mickey Mouse voice cameo
1:15 hey Mc I joined your patreon but it won't let me sign in?

No, just month & year on the pocket clip.
I like...I like knives....yeah
Guess who i found😂, iamfree😂😂😂nice job lurking the entire net..
So…. A handle that looks cheaper, with kooky looking hood scallops, a lower profile glass breaker that will probably lead to handle damage and/or your hand coming into contact with the surface of broken glass, and a preschooler deployable strength of the drive train button. No thanks.
I's one of the greatest knife in entire world and of all time. How we says ..! ^^
where can this not be carried? North I assume LOL? i mean here anyone can carry a gun... anyone... so a knife is kinda a giveme ...TN
You need to brush up on US knife laws by state
Still prefer Heretics
Yeah. This new gen model is nice but not enough to make me switch over from my Manticore X. Love my Cleric II as well.
Out of stock everywhere lol
Show me blade play
19:20
I think the scientific term for the old glass breaker would be turtlehead
COMBAT TROODDDDDDDDDDON
No prying doors off bomb shelter? What kind of half assed review is this?! And its not on home shopping network?!?!? Unsubscribe😂😅
Cmon man be nice.
Hahaha
