The Henry range are a truly British Institution. Almost every office is cleaned with a Henry at the end of the day, when your stuck at work, after hours finishing off and his little smile comes round the corner it is genuinely uplifting, like he's saying
"Cheer up, son... Not long to go, last good push "

Henrys are legendary in the UK, I don't think I've ever encountered a cleaner or tradesman who doesn't have one in his van because they do everything well and are virtually unkillable.

My Brother's Ex killed our Henry. It had been in our family for 25 years. Her first use, she sucked up a pair of her used underwear and not realising the noise had changed kept going until it overheated.
Thankfully he left her soon after that.

Mark Pearce The great thing about a Henry is that in the rare event you do manage to kill one, you can get a new motor for £25 and replace it yourself in a few minutes.

In the UK, the Henry, and associated Numatic canisters of varying sizes have been the commercial vacuum of choice for over 30 years. They are massively popular as shop vacs, office vacs and vacs for tradesmen to carry round in the backs of their vans. They may not be built as solidly as they used to be due to cost cutting to increase profits while keeping the price as low as possible, but their simplicity and the fact they still use bags, requiring next to no maintenance, means they still sell extremely well for business and domestic customers alike, in fact, Henry has become more aimed at the domestic user than ever before in the UK, with many different variants of the Henry, in several colours, all with the characteristic smiley face, that kids love as well as adults.

    • @charlesrodriguez7984

@@charlesrodriguez7984Best of all, he's still made in Chard, Somerset. When Dyson defected to South East Asia and Vax got bought out by the Chinese - and Hoover left Merthyr Tydfil after the disastrous early 90s free flights promotion, Numatic kept production in Britain, making them one of only two companies still making vacuums in Britain to this day.

The face came about when in the 1980s, the top brass at Numatic were in a consultation about what the new vacuum should look like, and out of nothing but boredom, one of the engineers doodled a face on the front of the vacuum. Someone saw it, thought it made an otherwise boring vacuum fun and interesting, and the rest is history.

Great review! In the Europe almost everyone uses canisters. We find them very convenient to use. Maybe it`s due to the smaller houses. As a vacuum enthusiast I still like uprights a lot. Only problem is that you have to use the onboard hose to get to the tight places and overall upright is bulky to use. It's a personal preference. I would definitely recommend to get the turbo nozzle (AiroBrush) for the carpets. It's much easier to push and pull + it does better job than the standard combination nozzle.

We got the Henry to help with our dusty hair filled corners. i vacuum the kitchen, the bathroom, the trim, all the tables and counters and it works great! I will say that I do spend a small amount of time cleaning all the long hair that gets stuck to the brush head and we keep a kenmore bagged vacuum because the carpet setting and the carpet attachment just doesn’t get the ingrained hair out of rugs unless you attach the smaller nozzle and work by hand.

I going to need to get my older Henry vacuum out and try it with a Simplicity Volt powernozzle. The Volt nozzle is cordless and powered from a rechargeable battery pack. The Volt is unique that it has a suction booster fan in it.Too me the KING of commercial vacuums is the NSS M1.This is a VERY heavy duty all metal hybrid canister vacuum that has a 6 gallon top mounted filter bag.The machines motor drives a HUGE direct air suction fan.The snout where the hose connects is a trap that holds heavy items like coins, nails, pebbles and such. The Henry is great for just that very light duty use and home cleaners. The Henry is a very good machine-simple,no nonsense.Just need to get bags for mine-Right now using a K8irby HEPA bag in mine.It does work just fine. Also like the Henry hand wound cordwinder. No springs to break!!!

When I had a canister vac I always carried it around instead of letting it trail behind me. I thought it worked great. Plus I if the cord needed to move I could just flick the canister around to make the cord move.
The bag capacity on mine was absolutely pathetic though... but since I had hardwood floors I didn't have a lot of fluffy debris building up.

  • @deanmoulder9348

The HUGE benefit of the Henry is that it is indestructible. They last forever, you can kick the crap out it and it will eat anything, and ask for more. Especially dust from building work that will blow up other vacuums. You're not a proper tradesman unless you have a dusty, beat up Henry. Also the long nozzle is great for cleaning anything above floor height, which uprights struggle with. Not to mention, it's great value money. Buuuut, I find it awkward to use in smallish spaces.

Hey Chris! What a great review and all your points are spot on. I wonder if it has higher watts/amps that in the UK as we have restrictions, so I was wondering if they’ve amped it up for the US market? Ours come with tapered hoses, wider at the vacuum end, I couldn’t see if this was? There is an electric power head model and I’m not sure if they still sell it? That would definitely help in the US market. You can’t see a hotel or almost any business from office to builders that don’t use a Numatic due to its toughness. These things are pretty much bomb proof 🤣. The turbo brush for these are very good, but I’m sure you’d lose CFM with it in use? , but they are very good turbo heads. Btw, in finally done our colab video as I had been waiting for a while to really put the V10 to a good day to day use and the video will be out 12th April 7pm GMT. 😘

Just like all types of machines, vacuum or not, I think that canister vacuums and upright vacuums all have their respective places. If you live in a small/cluttered house, an upright would be your best option. If you live in a slightly larger house with lots of hard floors and maybe a few rugs a canister is your best bet. At my house I use an upright (that has a suited hard floor cleaning attachment), and where I work as a cleaner, which has 3 rugs and the rest hard floor, I use a canister vacuum because I hate sweeping with a normal broom and they don’t want to invest in a $40 dust mop and I’m certainly not going to😂

Billy Darley Numatic / Henry vacuums are cheap in the U.K. There used to be a version with an electric brush head but it was discontinued, air powered turbo head is now available instead. Henry and other numatics come in a range of sizes and upto 1060 watts for the wet and dry versions, well worth the small extra cost for the additional power even if you never use the wet function.

I always wondered how good these things are. I knew they might be good because I've seen them around Atlanta in vacuum boutiques. It says noise levels of 47 dB(A) on low power and 49 dB(A) on high power on the Amazon page which seems good. Problem is they remind me of a Shop Vac and I'm afraid people will use it to suck up water and clean out the ashes in the fireplace. I can't be everywhere at the same time to make sure that doesn't happen when guests want to clean up when I'm not at home. I'm kind of a canister connoisseur. I don't think sucking up large debris is an issue as I've always lifted the parquet twister to get that type of debris.

Gay Love In the U.K. there are multiple versions, and they are very budget friendly starting at less than £100 / $120. A third of the price of a basic dyson and sure to last many times longer. Plus anyone with a screwdriver can repair one at home with very reasonably priced spare parts which are available for every model ever sold (the design has changed little in thirty plus years).

British manufacturing is renewed as among the best in the world, unless you are still living in the 1970's. These Numatics are about as reliable and as durable as you can gt, especially for this price range.
