Man, this is my biggest issue with my car since I got it a few months ago and hear those pops here and there when I started it pisses me off every time. great choice upgrading to IS350 man these are great cars and thanks for the video
I've been battling this issue for the past 2-3 years now. I just came across this video. I've decided enough was enough and fixed the flap. After removing the corner plastic of the trunk and amp, i noticed a puddle in that corner. I vacuumed it up with a wet vac. I used Flex Seal tape on the vent piece but instead of leaving the hole at the bottom, I cut a slit on the top, so it still vents but less of a chance of water entering from the bottom part of the vent. And as someone else had mentioned, you can remove the vent from inside the trunk if you finesse it, but it was great that you showed us by removing the bumper for context. Hopefully this fixes my issue, no more tapping the radio power on and off until I hear one pop instead of two. 🤞🏻
If you haven't already you should dry out your amp as well. You don't want water sitting inside of it. I'm with you tho, I had this issue for about 5 months before I got tired and did something about it. These cars are reliable engine and transmission wise, but they have a lot of little annoying issues.
I have an '08 250 with the 6-speed manual. All these 250s need an oil catch can that gets drained during each oil change. And I had to change out my trans after one year of ownership because the clutch forks were known to go bad on the 06-08 models and mine went bad, stuck in gear. I swapped it out for an '09 trans which by then had the issue resolved. That and the heat shields past the catalytic converters are known to collect water and rust out the exhaust. Just had those cut and patched last month. @@Jedi_Luke
@@skrachvynl Good stuff. I had a this Auto 250 with zero issues besides this amp thing, but it was a little boring for me power wise. I got a 350 now from the original owner. Not really no. You can try to go under the bumper, but that's probably more trouble than it's worth. Bending the bumper too much might result in breaking one of the clips or screw holes. Just remove the bumper like I did in the video. It's super easy.
No I wouldn't think so. The control arm issue usually just causes the inner part of your tires to wear out really fast.
