THIS IS IT!! This Chevelle is The Most Desirable muscle car for Me!! It isn't the quickest muscle car out there, but I Absolutely Love this one!! I have studied muscle car designs for many years, and in my humble opinion, this is the best-looking muscle car of all!! This is only my opinion, but, having spent many hours cruising and experiencing the visceral feel, great exhaust-soundtrack and the familiar whine of the transmission while rowing through the gears, and, the best of All... peering over the raised cowl induction hood while cruising and Boston cranked on the 8-track in my brother's 72 SS Chevelle!! There are certainly countless great body styles, styling/color combos, such as the '68-'70 Chargers, GTO's, Camaros, 'Stangs, AMX's, Darts, Dusters, Torinos, GTXs, TransAms, Roadrunners, 442's, Grand Sports, Super birds, and, I could go on and on... Much simpler times, no computers nor cell phones, the intoxicating smell of unleaded gasoline flowing into the tank, and....., Disco!!!😂 Thanks so much for sharing, and you do a Great job describing this gem, cand I appreciate your insight and knowledge!!!
My mom had a 1972 Chevelle, but I was too young then to understand that one day, these car would become classic cars … and it ended up, unfortunately, to the scrapyard. Great video Joe that brings back some good old memories!!! A+++
@denisbrisebois7658 …that is so funny because I was just going to comment that my mom bought a brand new 1972 Chevy Malibu that I distinctly remember remember the day she brought it home. I’ll never forget its gold paint color. Unfortunately her time with the car was brought to an end by a guy in a pickup truck failing to yield making a left turn and totaling the car.
It's for these reasons why I plan to hold onto my e92 M3 6spd and S2000 - NEVER selling them. If they break down, I'll still keep them and fix them myself later on. We're going the way of boring, garbage electric vehicles, and ICE cars - especially 6spd manual and/or 8-cyl - will become collectors items worth A LOT.
I had its upscale and often overlooked cousin as my first car in 1980, a 1970 Monte Carlo SS 454, also black over cherry red. What a car to have as young teenage male. Crazy amount of torque - actually a bit tricky not to peel out with its somewhat sticky throttle pedal. It was all about quick acceleration, the handling was only ok and the brakes were pretty pathetic for the speed you could quickly attain. Still, I would love to have it today.
I'm 55 and I remember my grandmothers Chevy SS. Same color etc but with the 396. I would take this over any new car made today. Great American muscle car.
My favorite reviews are your muscle car ones. I am Mopar to the soul, but Chevelles rock for sure. American Street Muscle rules! Sweet pulls, on throttle Joe!
My first car back in 1984 was a 72 Chevelle . No SS mine was kind of an oddball, must’ve been custom ordered. Only options were the 307v8 p/s p/b am radio. No carpet just a rubber floor! and cool body colored steelies with bow tie moon hubcaps. My dream car would be the seldom seen 72 Heavy Chevy option. It was a more affordable alternative to the SS with several engine choices including the 402. Just couldn’t get the 454. Great video ! Brought back some good memories! Thanks.
my first car was a 75 monte carlo with a 350,,,in 1987,,,sooooo easy to work on,,,,i could change the altinator,,,,thermostat,,,belts, starter, brakes,,,a number of other things in minutes,,,,no eletronics,,,gas was cheap in 87 too
I had a 1970 Camaro Z28 clone. Built 350 with a Muncie M22 and a .373 Posi rear end. My best friend had a stock 1972 SS El Camino 350 with an automatic. (around 1985) Both were great cars. This video brings back memories. Thanks Joe! That Chevelle will make a new owner very happy.
This feels like 1972 all over again!! Except I was seven years old, and had more interest in getting a Schwinn Stingray with the Stik Shifter, banana seat, and the high handlebars than drooling on muscle cars. I'm glad I outgrew that phase!!
Beautiful. There were other wonderful cars in the late 60's-70. GTO 442 Hemi anything and others. I remember a friend with a gold with black just like that one which was stunning. Thanks for the nice look back review. Believe me that nobody wanted a Porsche or Mercedes back then.
My brother owned a Red 1971 Chevelle SS454. While not the performance dragon of the 1970 SS454, it was still rated at 365hp and if you put headers and free breathing intake with the cowl induction hood; you'd have more hp than stock, very comparable to the 1970 version. I loved the performance and styling of the beast!
69' and 70' are the epitome of Chevelles. In 69' the 69 was my favorite, when the 70's came out it took a while of seeing them on the streets before I liked them as well as the 69'.
Joe thank you for bringing this to the Raiti’s rides family. There’s a 2018 demon at dream giveaway,I CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU TO SMOKE EM BECAUSE YOU GOT EM! Please go on throttle!! It would be interesting if dream giveaway garage plans to giveaway a chevelle 396 or a chevelle 454.
Gorgeous ride. Looks like it can chew up and spit cars out. The seats look very beautiful. I know modern cars have more horsepower and tech. But they don't have the attitude and grit of these beautiful rides. Thank you, Joe.
Wow! Love that Team Raiti can shift gears & Time Travel. My Brother had a 68 Chevelle think he said he traded his dirt bike & 500$ for it. I had a 72 Nova I bought off Ethan Hawke back in 03. Love the Old American Muscle ❤ Great Video Team. Thank You ✌️
I love this car. I'm a big fan of this generation of Chevelles. They are well designed, were well put together and drove/drive very nicely. I was fortunate to go car shopping with my dad in 1970. I tried to convince him we needed the SS396, but he bought a very nice Malibu with the 350. It was a wonderful car and would most likely still be in the family, but it was rear-ended (totaled) on the interstate during the after-work rush hour in the late 70s. That had previously happened to my dad's 55 Chevy years prior. Sad, but luckily, he was not injured in either incident. Life in the big city.
Good day Joey! As much as I like chevelles, I like chargers more!! With the amount of engine options and other options available in the good old days. I’d be happy to own either... 😜
Outstanding and entertaining review. This car was rolling off the assembly line when I was a senior in college. Thanks for bringing back some great memories. Still laughing at your review of the "infotainment center" and door panels.
Beautiful machine! Good old Era were people looked forward with BIG V8 engine who lived one quarter mile at a time! Classic American cars are true legends! Rather spend 100k+ on classic muscle car than new Hellcat!

Thanks again for showcasing the classics 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 My interest for the Chevelle ended after the 1970 model year. Back in the day, the ‘71/‘72 Chevelle were not quite as interesting as prior years (IMHO). Nice big block though!!
You blew my mind.. lol.. when I got the notification of your video.. I thought you was going to inform the world of a brand new muscle Chevy Chevelle 2024… lol man I got pumped ! But hey 72 is just as good if not better !
Beautiful Super Sport. I had a 1972 Chevelle Malibu in High School. It wasn't the SS but man, I loved that car. I'd love to win this beauty. Good luck to everyone that entered.
Joe is on a roll like always. It would be cool and I know the chances are probably slim, if Joe can get his hands on antique kind of cars like maybe a Model T but I don't know if those cars are made for on throttle. Lol 😂😂
Great review, Mr. Joe! And thank you, Steve for all you do! That is a sweet example of the 2nd Gen Chevelle SS, and that 402 sounded great! Deep Purple's Machine Head album would make a great 8 track companion, maybe some Three Dog Night, and Seals & Croft also. Then, chase it all down with John Denver's Greatest Hits. 👍

1st generation Chevelles have always had a sweet spot for me. For one thing, each year of the 1st gen looks pretty different from the next, especially going from 69 to 70. The Heavy Chevy wasn't badged as an SS.
