  • The government of Ghana began intensively lobbying Black Americans to resettle in Africa last year, and now, in the wake of George Floyd's death in the US, the country's tourism minister has stepped up the campaign. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)

      When I first started receiving a hate message from "Electric Spirit" I wondered and showed this post to a friend who is a Federal agent in my country.
      He thought the same as me. Do you know about internet dating frauds? you get a picture of a handsome man and he needs money, you send it to him and he says he will pay you back but he never will. You ask to see him on the web cam but oops the cam doesn't work.
      My friend was happy to see their new way of doing things because they reinvent themselves.
      If you are going to Africa and you meet a man you fall in love with and he is not able to buy you a drink, take your distance.
      If he is unable to spend the evening with you, it may be because he is married.
      If he introduces you to a notary to buy a house, he may not be a real notary. To find out, all notaries are part of the chamber of notaries on the planet. The first 2 years do not bring all your money with you, leave it in your country.

    Black Americans? Let's look at this carefully. Black Americans, "re" settling in Africa. To "re" settle, that means to do twice? Hence "re" Is it not? Ok. If "Black" Americans are doing it twice, then that implies that they're originally from, Africa. If they're originally from Africa, why are they called "Black Americans" rather than what they we're originally called "Africans". Or at the very least "African Americans". You know... African to denote that they're from Africa and American because that is the nation that some of us Africans live in? This question is rhetorical. The point I'm getting at is that they always try to find a way to separate us as a people. Most of the time it works... sadly.

    So much for the American dream.
    From reading the comments I really don't think enough people know or bother to mark any distinction between the different countries of Africa. While it's great that there seems to be a sense of African unity, I doubt how many Africans really care about such a lofty ideal, I think it's also a disservice to Africa's many diverse and unique cultures and countries to be reduced down to Africa all the time. And this kind of generalization is something you seem to see far more inside Western countries with a condescending level of political correctness with terms like African Americans, Asian Americans etc, and you don't see such reductive terms used in other continents.
    While some countries do essentially live up the the stereotypes in the West, others are radically different, such as Ghana which is far more stable and wealthy. While African Americans look to Africa as a homeland, most would have origins somewhere in West Africa, and if we're being honest, involved Africans enslaving other Africans to then sell to Europeans.
    Hundreds of years have passed since then, and American and African American culture and cultural experience are far different from those of native Africans. There's so many difference that and time that's passed I don't think you can really say that African Americans are returning home. If people want to move to Ghana or wherever to build a better life for themselves then I wish them the best, but let's not pretend that there is such a strong cultural of historic link with the whole continent.

The majority of those taken to the Americas came from the long stretch of coast between Senegal and Cameroon as part of the triangular between Europe, West Africa and the Americas.
      African slaves were of course taken from other parts of the continent too, and the Portuguese (who were the first Europeans to adopt African slavery, though Christopher Columbus gets the credit for taking it to the Americas after working the native populations of the Caribbean to death) had settlements along the coast of Central and Southern Africa and used slavery in the period we're talking about.
      If there's anything I'm missing please feel free to correct me.

    • @valdemarjoana625
      @valdemarjoana625 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      antiochus87 well yes, a vast amount was indeed taken from the coast of Senegal-Gambia... BUT that only makes up about 35% of the total slave trade... see, just as you said how the portuguese were the first, they made brazil the slave capital and harbor ... majority of the slaves transported to there were angolan and congolese... they then were transported to the Caribbean’s and finally the u.s.. during that time it was really harsh to travel from Africa to North America, but it was easier to brazil... só to summarize , the west captured people from the tribes of central Africa , and then they were held as slaves and sold by the europeans , thus meaning majority of the western slaves were actually from the centre... majority of the slaves in America were from the centre as they were brought from brazil.. hence why Angola is the only african country to have a city named after it in the U.S, and also hence why Brazil is the biggest african diaspora in the world, about 6 times bigger

      @@3DSgeek That's not true, multi-cultural societies fail to be homogoneous because you have groups of different people pushing for their ideals and things they think should exist in a country. Everybody is pushing and pulling for different things and it's a recipe for disaster. Look at the countries with weak border policies and handling the migrant crisis and look at Iceland and tell me which one you think is more prosporous and peaceful. Humans from different cultural backgrounds aren't meant to mix. Community and family happen in monocultural societies, where people all share the same common goal and traditions. People don't want to come to terms with this because they connotate monoculuralism as something that's bad but it's not. If people want to understand a group's culture better, then they should travel to their country as opposed to having it forced upon them in their own country. It only causes conflict and tension, and this is indisputable if you look at the way most of Europe is headed. History tells us that monoculturalism is what bonds communities together, not the other way around. These days and with the media, it seems to villianize this way of life. They only paint this narrative because they understand that it's what bonds people together, and they want as much division as possible.

      It's actually amusing how people claim that european kids are the most educated when they can't even find a difference between a north african and a sub sahara africa, and how they blame me for not being white and "stealing" their job.

      Police killing you while you're sitting in your apartment, or sleeping in your apartment, may not be technically "corruption", but they'd probably rather be away from it all the same. Ghana is better in that regard. Lots of crime in the US too. Not that we don't have crime in Africa, but they can afford to live in places away from crime if they live in Africa.

      @lavelle williams I'm assuming based on the wording of your comment that 500 is high in your opinion? So I went and checked how many killings there are in the US each year. I found it is normally more than 10000 and always less than 20000 the past decade. So I won't answer your question directly, because the negativity will frighten people away from Africa. What I will say is that if you have money you can live in places in Africa where crime and conflict do not affect you. Any African will attest to that fact.

    • @backtotheoldway6964
      @backtotheoldway6964 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @lavelle williams I know you believe that is high. I may need to be more clear. Without going into too much detail, in my nation, we have over 3 times as many killings every year than you in the US have, with a smaller population. BLM is a marxist organization and their goals are far wider than merely make african Americans lives better, it's about destroying capitalism, family and institutions like peace keeping, judicial system and the rule of law and they're exploiting african americans artificial misery and induced anger to achieve far left political goals.
