  • Part 2: • Jemele on Doc Rivers S...
Part 1: • Jemele Hill: Jacob Bla...
    --------
In the latest clip, Jemele Hill discussed the idea of African Americans leaving the United States for Africa. She said, due to slavery, some African American don't feel a connection to Africa and have misconceptions about what life in Africa is actually like. Hill also cited people living in America their whole life and buying into the idea that the United States is the greatest country as reasons why more Blacks haven't left the country. Referencing her own experiences in the continent, Hill said she and others felt an immediate connection in Africa. She also said she wouldn't be surprised if more African Americans start living abroad if America's issues with race don't improve.

Slavery was ENDEMIC in Africa over 700 years before the transatlantic cargo shipment even began from African slave markets, and at that time Africans and Arabs had been ravaging European shores for slave cargo. MILLIONS of white Europeans were taken by African and Arab slave traders. That's where the world slave comes from (Slav, Eastern European). 50% of Islamic Africa was enslaved by African rulers and their Islamic allies. To claim that African Americans went through horrors when their own home countries engaged in slaver for hundreds of years is a bit rich.

For one, the correct answer Jemele is that we are "American" - We aren't immigrants like VLAD who "flee" from our home country to go be famous in someone elses homeland. He has a totally different perspective and story. he didn't build America. We did. Second; Why don't you ask every white American why don't they go back to Europe? We are all American for better or for worst. People only analyze and critique our story because its the worlds greatest Freedom struggle. And all these running immigrants and refugees come here in comfort and give commentary as to what they feel we should do. No, you should go back and fix your broken and dying country and keep quiet. Third: Why would i want to leave "my country" the one me and my ancestors built which is the most powerful country in the world to go to one of the countries in Africa? I've been three countries within the continent and those Africans "want to relocate to the United States"!! Just like Vlad! I'm not giving up my country so that someone else can come in a benefit. I'm American. ADOS. End of Story. Aint no going anywhere. The real question is why doesn't VLAD pack up and go help build and restore Russia? Unlike VLAD and is family,. ADOS "stays and fights for change" in "our home country" to make it better for us "and" immigrants "like VLAD and his family". But VLAD didn't even stick around to make Russia a place where we could relocate to and have better lives. He ran and he has zero plans on going back to Russia. Knock it off with the disrespect.

I don't agree that blacks should move back to Africa to this utopian unrealistic view, but I also don't believe that we should isolate our final home to America. We should go where opportunity presents itself and if Africa shows sustainability and promote high living conditions for all then it is okay. But if the governments are corrupt it does not matter how much money you make, it will only benefit the upper class and it is morally fruitless. I wholeheartedly agree with investing in companies that have a high ROI there, considering no corruption. In addition, I agree that the Nigerians should go back first to build up their country to European standards, they know their language and culture and are very affluent in Western society. ADOS should follow and invest in promising African companies but where the company has very stringent regulations on business practices. A trickle is okay, but just like gentrification in high-value cities (eg. NYC), too many of us will raise alarms.

He’s saying present day, why do black people have such an affinity for a country they feel oppresses them so much. Take a shot moving somewhere else, like immigrants from past decades did, and as a plus you don’t have to worry about the color issue as much it’s more of a socio economic, religion discrimination which is much less psychologically taxing.

As an African American male I personally don't feel more comfortable in settings where it's all or majority Black. I grew up in the Bay Area in a very diverse community so I'm used to seeing everybody. I lived in South Central L.A. for a few years in my 20s and it was beautiful to actually live in a predominately Black area for a change. But after a while I started to miss the diversity that I was raised in.

You cant move to another country if you dont know how your going to live and make money in another country. People immigrate to America for better oppertunity.

Here's a question. Why should us, Black Americans, have to leave America? Why doesn't America do the right thing? Jewish, Natives, and Asians received money from the US in a form of reparations. Billionaires received bail outs in the millions while the middle and lower class have received not even a fraction of this. Yet these people are forced to struggle and revitalize the economy. The money that would be given to these classes would only go back to the government. That's the cycle of spending. Black Americans made and built this country which was stolen from the natives and latin people. Why does everyone else get to stay and receive compensation yet we are asked why we don't relocate? This is just another way of getting the same result. The most powerful nation is that way due to the people that live here. When will we all wake up and stop allowing these officials to control and dictate our lives?

Got love for Africa✊🏾& I wish them love and prosperity and the best. African history is amazing and Africans are very inelegant people through out the ages, Hence why because of our African blood mah people here are very intelligent and creative, but Mah heart is America. And if we learned just some history we would know that We have just as much stake in this land because it is (us, American blacks) WE who built it, fought for it, died for it. Well, I just did my ancestry, found land allotments for the Freedman of the Creek Nation, but she also signed up for Choctaw by blood. In the research of the time line, my great grandmother people were Choctaw/ Chikasaw, who werw enslaved by the Creek Nation. They were classified as Colored Person's, because of the Colonial law. But as I continued to look on the record, no evidence of African descent. I asked the Europeans with the same last name; they say we were here when they got here. So I saw a different spelling in the name. Comes out that it's Nahuatl (Aztec) language. We have 320 acres in Oklahoma, but my cousins tried to get access to sale the land. They were very hostile towards the tribe. I tried and got my documents certified by a genealogy expert. So I have to join the tribe to get the land.
On my dad side, same issue. Our indian women married black Portuguese. My great grandmother was listed as Colored for color of race, but her ethnicity was American. Was very confusing, but the genealogy research people put it together. She's a Uchie Indian. We are mixed, but the people who you choose to connect to is your choice. Certain genes skip certain people, and paternity is very different from ancestry test. Then to study colonial record's, which show White & Black Europeans as indentured servants on ship record's. Spanish record's, showing Indigenous American's being shipped out of America, to Europe and Africa is a definite game changer. The only Africans brought against their will, were the surrounding islands in the ocean of the coast of Africa, wich they were took to Spain. Then the thousands took from the Carib, to Spain, will blow your mind. Most people were moved around after they abolished over seas shipping of slaves. Most of the Africa Company, brought their slaves with them & the Egyptian cotton, which they worked for 7 yrs, then got land & repeated the same thing as what they went through.
But going to Africa, was 1st invented by the Colonization Society, to ship free persons of color to Africa, so the newly freed people wouldn't act as free. Their were 1.5 million free person person's of color before the Emancipation Proclamation. The Black Europeans lost their home & want to help the white European take our home, will shake the lies that we have been told.
Nothing has separated, just submerged under water; we still connected under water still today, with imaginary borders.
But as long as no one will actually step outside the comfort zone to read the actual record's, they will continue to repeat the lies that we have been taught in public compulsory school.

Having lived in a few countries in Africa and also experienced life as a black American in the USA, I will say that a lot of black Americans have this bizarre hatred of Africans (and admittedly some Africans hate AAs as well), and all that hate from both sides is grounded in ignorance. Africans we’re getting oppressed in Africa during the slave trade and beyond (there were civil rights movements similar to what MLK organized in countries like Ghana). Apartheid did not end in South Africa till the 90s. Yet many AAs I have met think Africans were just partying while other blacks were being kidnapped into slavery. Yes the experiences of slavery were traumatic but we ALL suffered, and are still suffering for colonialism, imperialism and the slave trade (trust me your American life with all the civil rights issues happening today does not even remotely compare to the trauma people in places like the Congo experienced due to racism and exploitation, and are still dealing with till this day). Its sad the “mob” masses on both sides cannot just educate themselves about each other and let love and healing reign. It’s not that hard to educate yourself in todays digital age. You don’t have to be ignorant. Watch educational videos. Read books. There are tons of great books on African and African American history out there. And a lot of them are FREE. Stop following popular opinion think for yourself.

I went to Ghana in December last year. Was it the year of return or the year of $returns$ for the Ghanaian government. With over $2 billion dollars in revenue generated by visits from the diaspora alone....I hope they build a proper waste management facility. It was a spiritual experience seeing the slave castles and visiting the country. And I'm not trying to speak negatively. But I was treated like a walking dollar. I mean I get it, but I'm telling the truth. If I had the means to and a significant passive income I would live in South East Asia. Thailand, Cambodia Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia were my happy place. I want Africa to succeed and I support any Black family from America that wants to make that move to Africa. But make sure you can have a better overall standard of living than you did here in America. No racism or murderous police bonus.....country underdeveloped and lettin China take all the resources that has to change.

Don't limit yourself to color. The west indians, afro Hispanic and Africans don't do it when they come to America. They look out for their own community and exclude black Americas. Of course, not unless they dealing with white racism that they can't get themselves out of.

What country in Africa did your tribe reside? They told you(us) that, we from right here. They want us to think we not from here, so we wont be mad over our land that they stole from us. We did a survey on this subject back in 1985.Even back then,a lot of Black Americans did not feel a personal connection with anywhere in Africa. Also, when you look at some African governments, you see that corruption due to money and power is no respector of race.Large parts of Nigeria are very developed and they still have problems with electricity and they still have problems with power service due more to government corruption, and not technology. Black Americans have put a lot of blood in the U.S.and many feel like we're determined to get our money and blood price back from the U.S.

I get their point of views. However, I do know that when I go to Ghana, I see more foreigners than African Americans coming in. These people have no connection to the continent, but they come, build, speak the language, and are even not afraid of living in villages now and then. If AAs don't want to go to Africa, that's cool. But why overthink just deciding to establish a business in a place where you may get the most opportunity? 'Come back home' doesn't mean abandon America. It just also means trying to connect. It means that if you want to take a break on a vacation, don't forget that you could be in a place where you're the majority. If you want to start a business, why no do it in a place with not much regulations? If you want a vacation home, why not try it in a place where you will get the most freedom to do so? But that's just my two cents. Appreciate their feedback and everyone else's.
