Hey, the film holds up good in car washes as long as its applied properly. You can cut out shapes on the light but you need a steady hand and not too much pressure or you could damage the light lens. I would try to find a pre cut tint with a cut out shape that you want, made for your vehicle.
Ok thank you. Im an artist by profession so i could probably cut the shape out. But I'll look for precut first. Thanks so much for the info. Great channel my friend!!!!

One major concern though, when spray painting them I didn’t realise how dark it really turned out until I turned the lights on and realised I did one too many coats. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to remove some of the layers without damaging the lens too much?
Brake cleaner will take it all off so you can start again. No clean way to remove just one layer. Maybe rubbing compound would thin it but not perfect.
I agree the film will be more durable, but the tail lights on my 2019 BMW 540 wrap way around the car and are loaded with irregular curves. Looks like spray-on for me! Great vid!!
Probably should check your state law before doing this. Most places if you have tint on the tail lights you can be responsible for a rear end collision even if another car hits you.

It all depends what you are experienced with. The spray tint is easier and all you need to remove it is a product called “goo gone” or 99% rubbing alcohol
I spray tinted my headlights but i have a bmw with drl so my halo rings are on so cant tell it’s tinted unless its parked and i only used 3 coats no clear coat still came out smooth to the touch and dont look matte

Awesome! Good luck
when you spray a tip is to open your trunk so you got less taping to do
Thank you, I was going to buy darkened tail lights and they were 130 NJ, but now I got a cheaper solution!
Awesome! Glad the video helped
Looking forward to do my 2g eclipse entire taillight... Spray may be the way
here looking at how todo my 1g eclipse!! lmao dsm lifeee
Thanks for the video can i ask 2 questions? How does the film hold up against car washes? And how hard is it to lay film down and cut out shapes on the light... Like leaving red exposed and covering the silver?
Hey, the film holds up good in car washes as long as its applied properly. You can cut out shapes on the light but you need a steady hand and not too much pressure or you could damage the light lens. I would try to find a pre cut tint with a cut out shape that you want, made for your vehicle.
Ok thank you. Im an artist by profession so i could probably cut the shape out. But I'll look for precut first. Thanks so much for the info. Great channel my friend!!!!
Awesome video, extremely easy to follow.
One major concern though, when spray painting them I didn’t realise how dark it really turned out until I turned the lights on and realised I did one too many coats.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to remove some of the layers without damaging the lens too much?
Over time it will fade without clear coat once it does just do one fresh cost of tint spray then clear coat it so it will last longer
Brake cleaner will take it all off so you can start again. No clean way to remove just one layer.
Maybe rubbing compound would thin it but not perfect.
All or nothing on this one🤣
I agree the film will be more durable, but the tail lights on my 2019 BMW 540 wrap way around the car and are loaded with irregular curves. Looks like spray-on for me! Great vid!!
Probably should check your state law before doing this. Most places if you have tint on the tail lights you can be responsible for a rear end collision even if another car hits you.
That's not how collision liability works, dude. It's not going to automatically make you liable no matter what your car looks like
@@LuvMussel your a idiot all tail lights are back lite and the tint is transparent. Last if someone hits.u in the day time then woulda happen any way so take your shit attitude some where else
Thanks a lot. I like spray tinting better from looking at it, it looks like a smoother process and where i live, it can snow hard or ice will get on your car dvd make icicles so yea. I love the annotations while doing it, keep it up.
Thank you!
@@EhabHalat You're welcome!! I just heard from my neighbor mechanic that the tints work good in the winter with the types that can be used for the headlights.
Yup if applied properly they should last a very long time
Remove the lights
Break seal with heat gun and knife
Clean inside of lens
Spray lens
Dry
Spray again
Silicone back together
Reinstall lights
No fade
OEM appearance
Your welcome
Will cleaning with alcohol remove the clearcoat that I have applied to after removing old tint? I may stick with only 3:37 soap and water considering the tint will be applied immediately after old tint removal.
I dont think so
So have you tried spraying this on and then covering with a clear coat for layered protection??
Damian Ramey hey! Yes of course you can add a clear coat on top for added protection!
Liquid Dipper have you tried something like that? I’m curious about the results over time with the color fading.
Damian Ramey i haven’t but i have seen other people try and it does help reduce colour fading over time
Adding a 2k clear coat over the vht nitshades then wetsanding with 2000 grit, then buffing and polishing will come out like a mirror and will make it last a long time. I've done it. I've had trouble applying the film to tail lights and its frustrating but, maybe I just suck at it.
I was about to ask same thing. I may try that when I paint my truck
I wonder if you could seal the sprayed lenses with a 2-part clear coat, like SprayMax 4K to keep them from fading.
Yes you can! I use 2k spray max clear gloss after im done with the spray tint
@@EhabHalat err, yeah, 2K, not 4K :D
Cant tell if your being sarcastic lol no such thing as 4k
l like red taillights way better overall, but i hate nothing as much as orange in taillights. best looking taillights imo are e39 sedan white/red lci taillights.
For spray tinting, would it be wise to add clear coat after the spray tint has dried??
Yes i have starting doing that and it makes it way more durable and better looking
How would you charge for tint version in general
I love that tape thing with the plastic wrap, never seen that it's pretty cool
Saves a ton of time masking up!
Can you get pulled over for having those lights tint? (Utah state)
If a cop really wanted to be a dick and/or is just looking for a reason to pull you over they might. But then again, they'll find a reason regardless. I've had tinted tail lights for almost 8 years and never gotten pulled over because of them.
No
Yes. I’ve been pulled over and searched. In Utah. On I 80. And I 70. For blacked out tail lights.
@@bradglenn8814 You've been pulled over twice for tinted taillights, your car was searched for a separate reason.
Came here for the tint video...life changed by tape and drape 😅😅 never knew it existed outside of my head😂😂❤
Yesss its soo useful
What would you recommend for a 2017 Infiniti Q50? How do you remove the NiteShades spray, if needed? No wet sandpaper needed for the NiteShades spray? Thanks.
It all depends what you are experienced with. The spray tint is easier and all you need to remove it is a product called “goo gone” or 99% rubbing alcohol
@@EhabHalat will the rubbing alcohol or the goo gone product scratch or discolor the taillights while removing?
Muhammad as long as you only use 50% rubbing alcohol and water mixed and for the goo gone make sure it says “safe on plastic” then you will be fine
I did this to my 87 firebird, It turned out great. Im thinking of doing it again to a 99 civic.
Awesome thats great to hear
Does this work with headlights too
Adam Hey, yes it does but i would only recommend a light shade of tint for headlights because it does restrict light output if using a dark tint shade
Ehab Halat okay thank you
Definitely going to try the film tint
Holy jeez, both are look exactly the same
I spray tinted my headlights but i have a bmw with drl so my halo rings are on so cant tell it’s tinted unless its parked and i only used 3 coats no clear coat still came out smooth to the touch and dont look matte
hey mate, can you remove the spray tint over time?
Dilan05 hey, yes you can with a product called “goof off”. Make sure its the one safe on plastics. Wipe the surface right after with 50% rubbing alcohol to remove the remaining goof off off the tail light lens surface
@@EhabHalat found the product, cheers for that
Great video! I recently did the spray tint but I got some runs going on. Any advice how I can get rid of the runs?
Use rubbing alocohol or goo gone to remove it and redo
I always use film when I do mine that Luxe is some good stuff and shines like paint
Great great video. I'd rather use the spray if i do it myself, and the film if i pay for others to do it. Regardless if there both done right, it really doesnt matter.
Great work! Doing the film tint on my C300 soon
Where do you get the tape with the protection film? That was so smart
You can get it on amazon its called tape n drape or your local paint store should carry it
Ehab Halat thank you
