I'm not sure as I wasn't around at that certain time long ago I'm OLD! not OLD OLD! all I know is this wouldn't go to well in today's time. Most girls will look at that like seriously? your taking me to Mc Donald's? It's kinda reflects on her in her mind how much she's worth to ya i mean that's just what you'd think it's a self worth type of thing. even a bi gay men, if a guy takes another guy their interested in sexually/romantically it just kinda reflects like wow im worth this much to this person they just wanna feed me some Mc Donald's so they can get in me. that's kinda what it feels like at the same time it's like wow this person really doesn't think much of me. like i said back in the day maybe it really could of been different but you're definitely not taking no guy/girl you're interested in to fat burger! Maybe if y'all been together for a while that'd be diff if y'all just stopped off for some quick food. Anywho anything like that is fast/quick food not take girl/guy out food.

I’m literally sure if each of their commercials were just silent with a shot panning over some steaming chicken McNuggets they would still get the same amount of sales as these ridiculous ads smh
We got it on Friday, really any type of fast food at our house but you better believe on Saturday mom frying fish with homemade fries. Starting off the week of eating at home until the next Friday
depending on how old this ad is, phones were pretty expensive, only high income families had cellphones back then so everyone else used pay phone to do a quick call
The worst one they ever had was with the black woman on the airplane, and i think the stewardess tried to take her chicken strips and they had the black lady say "you better don't". I didn't hit McDonald's for like 3 years after that
I’m not mad at McDonald’s at all. They know who eats there, they know who works there. They had real black people being paid in the commercials. A little cringey in retrospect, but at least they acknowledged us. And yes, that don’t be stingy got me too lol.
To me it really just feels like anything else from that time period. Back then, this is what people, even black people I'm sure, felt was cool or good marketing. Just like in the Calvin one, they thought those clothes were fresh, meanwhile my eyes are spinning from the seemingly random color patches or their outfits😂. Looking back now, yeah it's definitely pandering (isn't all marketing?) and some might even see it as racist by today's ideas, but let's not pretend like it doesn't reflect even a little bit of what was legitimately popular in black culture at the time
Just because black people agree to do something, doesn't make it any less racist. Just cos you're black don't mean you can't be racist towards black people. We gotta keep our eyes open for these cultural violations clearly built on stereotypes and say nah, I don't wanna do that. Not that it matters, for the love of the money, people will throw away their entire identity smh
Calvin is still alive and well. He's been with his wife (whom he met as a manger working at McDonald's) 25 years. They have 3 adult children all attending college and Calvin has since moved on to McDonald's corporate in senior associate role. @@chilliecheesecake I mean if we are getting to the entire BLM discussion, all criminals are wrong (with possible exceptions) and all the victims of Police violence seem to have been killed fleeing the robbery/rape/murder scene, during a high speed chase of sorts, and thats a point of criticism those ppl cant seem to handle, which is sad, bc it discredits several legit points decendants of slavery have in the usa, namely that there is disproportianate Police violence towards them coupled with general discrimination. Sadly to get their point across they mourn dead gangmembers bc normal blacks dont get shot at random stops bc they know how to act bc they are just that, sensible ppl dealing with their situation. Maybe the story of "The cops treat me different, but i cant put my finger on it" or "The cops yell at us more often in a deragotory way as perceived by us" just doesnt motivate ppl enough or it doesnt clearly communicate the seriousness of this situation and thats why they use this. But this previous part is part of a much greater issue. True equality. African americans want the harrasment to stop, and for the usa to meet their main demand : "girl you got a ten piece dont be stingy." All im saying is rioting and being non open minded keeps blacks away from this goal bc of the hatred or reject it breeds. It doesnt only affect them, in a far more indirect way it can cause problems for the fight for equality world wide. In a way they look at us all like that then. Riots in HK or Harlem, its all the same to the elites: they want to Stay in power of their respective nations and will use this to discredit protests. Then "we" are wrong.

Just like in the Calvin one, they thought those clothes were fresh, meanwhile my eyes are spinning from the seemingly random color patches or their outfits😂. Sadly to get their point across they mourn dead gangmembers bc normal blacks dont get shot at random stops bc they know how to act bc they are just that, sensible ppl dealing with their situation. Maybe the story of "The cops treat me different, but i cant put my finger on it" or "The cops yell at us more often in a deragotory way as perceived by us"
just doesnt motivate ppl enough or it doesnt clearly communicate the seriousness of this situation and thats why they use this.
But this previous part is part of a much greater issue. True equality. African americans want the harrasment to stop, and for the usa to meet their main demand : "girl you got a ten piece dont be stingy."
All im saying is rioting and being non open minded keeps blacks away from this goal bc of the hatred or reject it breeds. It doesnt only affect them, in a far more indirect way it can cause problems for the fight for equality world wide. In a way they look at us all like that then.
