hi thanks for all of your work i normal do landscapes but after see what you do thought id give it a go iv been using clairefontine mixed medium paper . but just got some pastel mat to try never thought is was going to be so coarse you always make it look so smooth like mount board . I bought a small pad but its curling is this normal.
@treetop1957able pastelmat has a unique texture which is perfect for gripping the pastel and allowing for lots of layers which when drawing fur is really important. Yes it is normal for the edges to curl but I use tape to hold it down. Once the portrait is mounted and framed that isn't a issue as that will all keep it flat.
