    I've watched so many videos of other artists to grasp the basic understanding of using pastel pencils. But when I came across your videos, which is just an hour back, I understood way more than what I understood in a year!
    My regret is why I didn't find your channel earlier! ❤❤❤

    Thank you so much - I've been struggling for ages to draw our Black Golden Doodle and getting nowhere, because I was doing exactly what you showed us not to do! 🐶

    Very helpful, very "painterly" instruction. You give principles I can follow in my own work across the board. Thank you very much.😊

    This is brilliant, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen curly fur, thank you for showing this. 😊 I’m going to give this ago and just do a tiny study like this. It should give me convenience doing a tiny study. Could you do a black curly fur study please? I know colours can be difficult for black. This is wonderful, I’m excited to try this ☺️

      Thanks Gillina! I have to say, the technique is just the same; pay attention to your tones and try using a warm and cool tint and shade to nuance your highlights and shadows for extra punch! I’ll be doing some black fur work soon though 😊

    Thank you Emily for a great video instruction. I am just starting to draw my "red" poodle and your technique is just what I needed to see. I am wondering if you have tried doing the under layer with panpastels and if so how did it work. My project is larger and thought this might be an alternative. Would really appreciate your opinion, and also would love to see you do a darker color poodle fur video.

      Hi Joy! I'm glad this is useful for you and yes, pan pastels would work for your underpainting. Be sure not to make it too thick too quickly or the details will become very flat and difficult to draw. I have a video that shows me using some pan pastels on here (I seem to recall it was my first time every using them!) th-cam.com/video/fuaMZzpZrlg/w-d-xo.html

    You stated that the ivory pencil is number 203, but then on screen it says 103 ?
    Please can you tell us which number is correct for the ivory, this will be a big help, thanks.

      @emilyrosewildlifeart-paste9820  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Kaz, easily done when I’m chatting away! It’s the 103, if ever you’re unsure Google pittpastel followed by the number or a colour name and it will pop up 😊

    Can we see the finished portrait anywhere? I only see it in the thumbnail which is really small.

      Honestly, continue practicing! Hours go into making something come naturally, but, that does mean 'anyone can do it' with enough practice. These things come over time and I would spend a lot of time simply looking at photos and thinking about the interaction of colours, tones and edges. The more time you spend considering something, the easier it becomes to emulate it :) Stay with it!
