I like how you're teaching every designer to raise their price. You're increasing the market value for all of us this way, and we can only increase it if we do it together and say no to low prices.

I am slowly starting to get it...after watching these videos for about 3 years. I think the the hardest thing to get is not what to say in those moments, but the state of mind/confidence you need to be in those moments. Than, the words come out naturally, ❤️

Of course not Chris! There is always some nugget of knowledge that I am discovering in your videos. But for someone who has binged watched the channel for a while, I do sense some degree of „upcicling“ of your business content. I wish there was less ABC and more real live cases and examples.

Bracketing is giving a range of price, the highest point is your anchor and what you should say first.
The key here is not to sell, but to frame your client's prospective, and let them pick the price (which is probably gonna be high since you used anchoring with the highest point) then work around this high and profitable territory you just created to close the deal.
That's what I got from these 7 mins..

I can relate on what you said at around 6:25. When you said you got excited and maybe built something (in your head) that the client might not even need. It's a habit that I have whenever I am introduced to a project. My brain automatically thinks of some features that I might put in the project. It might be a good thing at some instances but I'm guessing not in this kind of scenario.
By the way, thanks again for this Chris! Excellent video as always! :)

I wish I had found you years back! I've listened to so many other sales / negotiation experts, with their explanations and stories seeming like an eternity in comparison to what your videos deliver in under 10 minutes. I think the fact that you role play with the people gets the message across on point. The key is, I believe, you allow in the role playing, people to make their usual mistakes (those that most of us make) and then back it up and play it again as it should be. The idea, the knowledge goes from abstract to something one can identify with... learning from other people's mistakes.

Damn I'm learning so much from watching these Videoes, every one of them has at least one tip that really opens my eyes.
Wish I knew this stuff when I started out about a year ago.
The "anchor high" tip is really good, I usually give a bracketed price range.
And the client always try to negotiate to the lower number.
Now I will defintaly try switching it up and see if I get better success.
One thing I was way to afraid to do was give a big number, that would could make my client freeze up and say "that's just way out of our budget" and break contact.
But now I've gotten the confidence to ask higher numbers, and generally negotiate down to a price that is still much higher then I usually would get before.
Love this channel, you've already made me earn over $4 000 and I've only been watching a month.

However, recently i have met with a client with whom i failed to get the project because he was offering a much lower price than my price bracket. This brought me here again and i wanted to ask "what if the clients have offered a much lower price than my price bracket?" This is where i am confused and haven't found the solution. If there is a solution to this, i would really like to have some insights. Either way, you guys are pure gold and unicorn! haha

    Thanks for this video.

consider joining the pro group. it's $150/mo. vs. $1k/hr.

I don't have a credit card or a debit card. All my funds are on Paypal. And my account is currently put on-hold because they thought that I was money laundering, but really I just got a high paying client. And to be honest I closed the client because I applied what I've learned from your videos and also courses.

Excellent lesson with a ton of value, as always!
Although I got confused in the end - isn't the 45k sitting right in the middle of the given price bracket of 60 to 30k?

The last "trick" is awesome just said you are excited and you charge something big because you wanted to do this and that then just lower the price since it's too expensive and voila. Simple but it should work to avoid the trap of somebody who never discuss and try to sell super low no matter what just to win the bid. I like simple. Simple get implemented. Simple make sense.

Straight gold. I would love to see a video of you talking about lead services like thumbtack/smartshoot/web inquiries. I know you talked about 'anchors' and right now a good portion of my business is coming from those sites, and it's all done thru email/messaging where it feels like I don't have much control. Most of the time I'm just meeting the clients budget and doing sub $1k work, or best case I upsell them a couple hundreds bucks, but end up working harder/taking on more responsbility - also not good. What are your suggestions for using these services or is it best to just graduate from them? Thanks!

Okay, I don't know if Chris can read this so I'm going to ask this question anyway.
I wanna say this from the start I really loved the video the way you basically make the potential client want your services without actually trying to sell them.
Since I'm a freelancer, I'm running into a problem that's pretty common. Currently I feel like I'm not in position to choose between clients, if you know what I mean. What if potential client (assuming that his needs really fit my style and that I'm extremely confident handling the branding project) simply can not fit in a budget range You request?
I believe it's about my mindset. I really want to raise my rates, but at the same time I do need to get payed and actually keep the client around if he's worth. Trying to do a thing Mr Ben Burns talked few months ago, by having few clients that can actually pay you rather than having twenty of them who can pay you a hundred bucks for a logo that maybe won't even appear on the market because their work plan is not convincing enough.
Am I the only one facing this problem?
    Thanks!!!

Love the content… wonder though when everyone in this industry learns to anchor so high that few people actually get served unless a lot of referrals are truly happening… as a small business owner I find the price of some of the services (not this creators , but web services in general) outlandish and I know they have to make a profit but I often wonder how much work really goes in to the projects or shipped overseas to be done at a much cheaper rate… I can tell you the biggest fear of the average customer is that they’re worried they’re paying way too much for services that take much less effort than is advertised

You are paying for the result of the work, in the case of a business that would be increased customer count and increased profit. What does it matter the number of hours it takes a designer or developer to produce a work that will return those results?
