Why do people think they have to be team crossfit or team bodybuilder? why don't we try both and embrace both, they both work it's just people have different goals and we have to accept that! I personally love crossfit but do bodybuilding a couple days a week too because I love bodybuilding!

I use both methods through out my workout. Especially for deadlift and squats.

Comes down to ego with bodybuilders they only care about how they look in the mirror it's all about size and lifting heavy weights and thinking there bigger men. What I have noticed about so called bodybuilders they don't care about actual fitness they know nothing of running swimming or crossfit they think fitness is lifting weights sad really. Crossfit and bodybuilders will never see eye to eye. Bodybuilders only get along with other bodybuilders

I'm a men's physique competitor and didn't think much of crossfit before i started researching and watching these guys. They are absolutely on the same level as every other bodybuilder / power lifter in the game. Just as much hard work as anyone else if not more at times. To each their own. Shut the fuck up.

    thanks joebyne, was always curious.
on those cleans, it looks like he wasn't hook gripping, esp on the catch, the thumbs were on the same side as the rest of the fingers... unless he changes grip during the pull?
i use hook when practicing snatch (not often), not doing heavy enough for cleans yet (just body weight practicing technique) but i haven't developed any callouses. i do have a thumb callous from tennis on the right thumb, but nothing on the left.

The Hook Grip for the pulling phase (dead lift) of the clean into the rack position. Hook grip is hard on the thumbs.

dan is among a small group of athletes that are quite literally the absolute elite. miles ahead of the best crossfitters the world has to offer. the likes of salo, chan, holmberg, khalipa, maddox, kasperbaeur and bridges: the fittest on earth. then there's rich froning who's miles ahead of that elite. he's what tiger woods was to golf. untouchable.

Cripes, I was just defending Castro last night in the video of him at the ballpark, but he's obviously feeling his alcohol in this video. Not portraying himself in the best light lately with some videos.
As always, Rich and Dan are beasts and it was great of them to play along so well and go for a nasty WOD like that straight off the plane at 11 pm.

Endurance or strength, it depends on the wod. Crossfit is about everything. In the video Rich already says 225 is moderately heavy. Obviously, and evident from his games performance, he lifts more, if it wsn't clear.

buddy, do you even realize how much 227kg is? the olympic record for clean and jerk is 233, which has a front squat in the motion. these guys aren't olympic weightlifters, same way that olympic weightlifters aren't crossfitters. froning recently did a 375 clean and jerk, which is extremely impressive for someone that doesn't have that as their main focus.
give these guys some respect, not everyone can throw 515 pounds above their head one time in competition.

Dave Castro really comes off like such an amateur. Crossfit is a brand and if he's the point man of the brand he acts like a tool. Having him act like that will be a liabiility. The language is what it is, Dana White speaks like that but he does in a authentic way that somehow is palatable. Castro just sounds crass and the drinking thing is repulsive. His demeanor wreaks of arrogance.
Froning is alien, Bailey is a beast. These guys are why I watch this stuff. Simply remarkable

Running certainly isn't the only thing that defines an athlete--I never said as much. If you cannot run at any sort of competitive level with low level females, how athletic can you be?
You could go to any d1 football team and find guys that are stronger, faster, and more powerful. Depending on how you want to define endurance, they can be better there as well. The guy runs 20min 5k--how great is his aerobic endurance? Crossfit is very specific to itself, it's not 'real world' anything.
