For the fittest man on Earth, life is pretty normal: a wife, a dog, a house.
In Part 1 of this five-part series, we get inside Rich Froning Jr.'s Tennessee home and learn more about the man who this year became the first two-time CrossFit Games champion.
For starters, Froning's wife, Hillary, doesn't CrossFit.
"She's good for me. Keeps me level-headed, that's for sure," Rich says. "Very supportive of what I do but doesn't care anything about it, which is good ... 'cause then I don't have to worry about how well I do for her."
Froning adds: "All she cares about is if I'm safe. She doesn't care about how I finish or any of that-except for this year she did get a little fired up."
In Part 2, the 25-year-old reveals that he's a nervous wreck before competitions.
"I hate it. I hate competing. I don't know why I do it," he says.
But as soon as he hears the word "Go!" the nerves vanish.
"There's no butterflies. You're just kind of in that zone," he explains. "And then after it, you feel great-if you did decent."

And now he's got his own barn to train in, Froning Farms, and 3 kids. Crazy how much can change in such a short amount of time

Crazy this was almost a decade ago! The sport has evolved so much, and Rich will always be one of my favorite athletes. And this is coming from a guy who has never done a lick of Crossfit.

Went from training D2 football players with Dan Bailey, to being a dominant athlete, to having a family to toning it back and doing team events, and now possibly getting back into individual events to take on the current champ Fraser

I would either never do Crossfit (in a Pro fashion), or, I would have another SO, if my SO did not like Crossfit, or in general what I did for a living.
My SO doesn't care about my job which takes a toll on my life, but not nearly the amount of hours that a top athlete puts in, so if she wasn't at least a little bit supportive I dunno if it would work out.
I tried going Pro triathlete back in 2011 for 6 months, but didn't work out due to injuries, but I think I would prefer to be single or date a fellow semi-pro or pro athlete if I had made it to "actually-liveable-of-the-money pro" status.
Hats off to em, if they made it work all these years though!

I don't think anyone doing cross fit can honestly say they perform proper muscle ups or pull ups. Kipping and swinging does not make for a correct muscle up or pull up..Really poor form. That's what puts me off Cross fit is the incorrect techniques that are applied. Increasing serious risk of injury.
