Hi, bikes are actually purchased with drops - the in-game currency - those are earned through effort, so the harder you're working, the more you earn, regardless of distance. Those are the ones in the blue bubble in the lower right-hand corner of the information bar at the top. You can go into the menu and into the garage anytime you want and purchase bikes and wheels. You can also unlock bikes and paint jobs with achievements and special event rides. Sometimes you have to be at a particular level to purchase a frame or set of wheels, but the level doesn't automatically unlock them. Additionally, you don't actually unlock the better bikes at the higher levels. Most of the best bikes in the game can be purchased at level 12 and below. The main "storyline" of the game that takes you from level 1 to 50 is actually pretty underwhelming with unlocks. The meat and potatoes come from missions, challenges, brand events, group rides, and tours. Hope that helps, I know it's a lot
tour of california, everset challenge and tour italy...other than that, special events or launches like Focus did last month where they gave you a bike for completing 1 group ride.
I love what you call the "comic book kit", but it is clearly inspired by Team Z, former home of Greg Lemond and 2-time Paris-Roubaix winner Gilbert Duclos-Lasalle (1992 and 1993 when he was 37 and 38).
Hey , thanks for the videos. They are very informative. I don’t have any big ambitions from my Zwift career other than to get and stay fit. But now I think I am getting addicted to the game. Any advice?
Hi 🙂 thanks for checking out the video! The pink cap was an unlock during Zwift Academy from September to November. Keep an eye out for challenges and special events they'll likely add more caps
How do 'Drops' equate to 'Experience Points' ? I'm guessing that Zwift changed the Verbiage? But if so, is there some kind of multiplier between the two?
There is no connection between drops and experience points. Drops are the in-game currency that are accrued based on effort level over time with multipliers available with ride ons and pace partner participation. Experience points are earned via mileage 20XP/km or 30XP/mi with bonus points on offer for badge completion or certain benchmarks.
It actually changes based on level. Every level up, the XP requirement between levels inxreases. If you use the differences between the levels below and divide by 30, you get the rough number of kms between levels. That doesn't include boosts from badges and achievements though: 1. Zwift Kit 2. @@EverythingIsPhotogenic Thank you for your informative response. So this means "nose to the grind stone", and just keep pedaling knowing that each level will extend in length 🥵 Not that I am complaining. It was just something I wondered about 🙂
Caps are usually unlocked during challenges, missions and brand events. Keep an eye on emails or the left hand side of the main screen. I have a Wahoo one from a mission, a Zwift Academy tri one from 2019 and 2020. Zwift Academy road from 2019 and 2020 a specialized cap from 2019 from some event I don't recall and the orange Zwift cap used to be unlockable at level 25 but isn't anymore. You keep any legacy unlocks even if they are retired.
Glowy wheels are a lot of hard work but it's kind of the badge of honor for doing all that climbing. Make sure you go into the menu screen, click the challenges and select the Everest challenge. None of your climbing will count until you do. If you are having difficulty finding it go to this video th-cam.com/video/JY_g8fGUoF4/w-d-xo.html and go to timestamp 25:03 (the chapters are in the description) but it doesn't really say challenges so you might not realize it's there.
@@EverythingIsPhotogenic thank you! I’ve checked and apparently it Mmmm wasn’t set to some other California challenge... I’ve set it to Everest! Thanks for the tip!
Be nice to add more retro kits. Near 18 million pts. Already have a full garage. Points are a waste. Just ride. Dont care for.most of the kits offered. Z the best
I force myself to wear the ugly “uplevel” kit for a week every time I earn one. As I get close to level 41 I see I’ll get a whole whack o ugly kits on the way.
Might be nice to go through the special codes to unlock stuff. Apologies if you've done this already. I have only just found your channel, thanks algorithm.
Not yet, but as more people approach that milestone, I would guess Zwift would expand the levels. That said, there are very few people who have achieved that level. It requires at least 15k miles ridden on Zwift and for most who do the bulk of their riding outdoors, that could take several years to achieve. Someone who does most/all of their riding on zwift could probably achieve level 50 within a year to 18 months, but that really isn't applicable to 99% of the platform. That is why Zwift is in no real rush to add levels, but I bet it's coming sooner than later.
This just makes me sad. I'm getting into Zwift (level 12) and tbh this demonstrates that Zwift just don't have enough avatar content. What are the developers doing especially as the monthly fee is only going up.
Most of then are old. The program is old and the structure is tough to update. It's easier for them to add them to different elements in the game. Check the description in the kit unlocks video, you don't even need to watch it, just grab a bunch and enter them in. But some of the best kits are from events and group rides.
Made me laugh... thanks! Although not much to look forward to. I was wondering how you can unlock bikes though.. is that not through XP ?

What a joy. A breakneck pace and lots of great information. "If you're into that sort of thing"
Will there be an updated version for 50 to 60 pretty please ?

Hey! THe level 50 is basically what my avatar looks like but on a pink tron bike and green socks haha
Hi! Hope you’re well in this festive pandemic season. Quick question: why do some riders on zwift have super glowy wheels ?- cheers
Hi the glory wheels come on the Tron bike, one of the best bikes on Zwift, but you have to climb the equivalent of 5 times Everest to get it!
Glowy wheels are a lot of hard work but it's kind of the badge of honor for doing all that climbing. Make sure you go into the menu screen, click the challenges and select the Everest challenge.
