You couldn't have posted this at a more perfect time. I've been losing so much hair lately, and it's making me so so sad 😩 Thank you for sharing your story. I hope & pray we all heal ❤🙏🏼
Great topic. I had to increase my carbs a bit due to brain fog and hair loss. It has stunted my weight loss, but it doesn't matter how skinny I am if my brain is not functioning properly. I have tons of hair, but losing more than usual. I also stopped with LMNT because it has bad ingredients that are not listed on the label. I no longer trust them.
I get it. I struggle with Anemia and deal with a severe gluten intolerance. Ive been thinking about liver pills hard to stay consistent with food. Losing my hair makes me cry. Good for you with your preventative care. 🌈
Mayra…have you been tested for Hashimotos? I had hypothyroidism a few months ago and my last 2 labs came back normal. My iron levels were super low; I was at a 5 and now at 17. I too had severe hair loss… I started cutting my hair; it was my way of coping with it (at least I didn’t get bangs) anywho… I’ve now seen a major improvement. Even my hair lady said I have a bunch of new hair in the back coming in; I’ll take that win! Hashimotos is what causes 95% of hypothyroidism.
My Mom is having terrible hair loss from hypothyroidism Has anyone had success with a particular thyroid medicine recommendation that helps hair growth instead of causing more hair loss?
I'm so sorry Myra 😢 For us woman I believe our hair is a part of our femininity. So to lose it can be difficult emotionally. That's just my own personal thoughts. I started to lose mine right at menopause. Then I heard Dhea helps and sure enough it did, whew 😞 I'm glad that your finding out what's helping for you! Your a beautiful gal with or without all the hair 😁😘💗
I also have had hair loss with low ferritin levels (tissue iron storage) my blood iron has always been normal. Weird how that works. Celtic salt has the most minerals, spinach is a good iron source and of course beef. The liquid iron is something I want to try. I have not been sick in over 7 years (colds, allergies. Flu, etc) I never even got COVID or had any shots, I don’t do shots, and I’ve never had the flu, pneumonia, shingles, nothing. I guess I have a great immune system. Eating lots of veggies help also. Thank you for sharing your journey, I just started the keto journey, and looking forward to losing weight. I love all your recipes and can’t wait to try more! You are amazing! ❤
Thank you Myra. I've had some bizarre cravings lately and it's reassuring to hear your story. The ice cravings kind of scared me because of it being hard on my teeth. I have started an iron supplement but I need to try a different one, ice cravings better but still feel almost addicted.? Salt yes, orange rinds, raw cabbage like it was the best thing on earth!!! All pointed the way to self diagnosis of anemia. No hair issues but heart problems instead. Felt low on oxygen which iron in the blood is so essential for oxygen transport. Thank you for being so real and encouraging in all you do.
About two years ago I went thru some health issues and started suffering from thinning hair. Lots of hair falling out. I started using biotin supplements (gummies) and shampoo, and my hair is back. Thick and healthy. My health issues have stabilized and I’m on meds. A lot of meds. I’m so happy I caught it in time. I will be 70 in April. I used to have a thyroid issue when younger but now according to lab work I no longer do. I’m not anemic either.
I use hair thickening lotion and hair powder that has no colour, and they both work great. No residue, not like hair products gel or crunchy spray hold, etc. mine went a bit thin at menopause after having thick shiny hair as a child and young woman. At menopause, I suddenly had a texture change and have wavy hair now, and my hair was straight all my life before!
I lost my hair three times, I have a high blood count so that’s not it.I lost hair twice during Covid and when I started keto. My hair has stopped falling out but it’s thin now and thankfully I had very thick hair to start with.
High stress can cause hair to fall out after the stress goes away. Happened to me when I finished nursing school, again after COVID, and then again when my mother died. I thought I was going bald all 3 times!😂 Some of my hair did grow back though but it’s not as thick as it used to be but grateful for the hair I still have.☺️
I lost about 60-70% of my hair after having gastric sleeve surgery. This is perfectly normal, but it has not come back very full after 3 years. My hair was also a big part of my identity. Very long very thick and wavy
I totally understand the feeling that hair is part of your identity; it is for me, too. I'm not iron deficient, but I have alopecia areata, hypothyroidism, and am post-menopausal.
I’ve been on green chef for three years. They use a lot of kale which I don’t like, in their meal kits. So I always substitute spinach and I think this really helped with my hair issues.
The feeling is terrifying. I take care of my hair , I only use argon oil based shampoo/cond. I use no heat on my hair, I don't even own a blow dryer. To have this happen to me was stressful and just devastating. Turned out I was micro nutrient deficient. I changed up my eating habits to add the nutrients back and went on a high does multi vitamin and thank god it stopped. For the last year I have really watched my food and have taken my vitamins, and my hair is much healthier and not coming out the way it was, Thank you for doing this video to inform of the unexpected side affects of losing weight and the helpful things we can do to hopefully get us back to healthier hair and body.
Thanks for sharing & thanks for the tips , I have both hypothyroidism & low iron - anemic . I noticed because of my hair loss but also I was getting dizzy a lot , then it would go away quickly . It comes and goes . Now my Dr prescribed a supplement Ferrous sulfate. Now my latest bloodwork, I’m in the right level that my Dr wants me at 😄🙏🏻♥️
I can't tolerate most iron supplements. I'm chronically anemic to the point I get iron infusions. I found a great iron supplement that helps with hair loss due to anemia. Glad you're feeling better!
I'm going on my 3rd round of iron infusions. I know when my anemia is bad when I'm craving ice. I'm from Arizona and even in the summer I drink room temperature water. Not a fan of ice at all.
I had bad hair loss after a stomach surgery and not being able to eat enough for awhile and I went into menopause... I got serious about taking my multi vit, an iron supplement and upping my protein and it has made a huge difference. My skin is even looking better. I am waiting on my current lab work to see how well it is working. crossing my fingers so I don't have to have iron infusions.
I had low iron can cause pica ( a food disorder) as you mentioned it can cause weird cravings. Other than hair loss low iron can also cause nail disorder called spooning, but worse is shortness of breath and heart rate was always high. I was prescribed iron sulfate and it took over a year for my iron to regulate to mid ranges. My energy just shot up and all symptoms improved. Yeah!
Wow look at god. I’m going through the hair lose and my skin is dehydrated from loosing all my weight. And I crave sweet and salty to often. I had a thyroid removed last year in December, but my levels are normal. Every time. My blood is taken. They say it’s normal. I’m not a diabetic anymore. I don’t have high blood pressure. I don’t have high cholesterol. It’s kind of weird what I’m experiencing.
I’ve had to embrace shorter hair because my hair is constantly shedding & the ends stay so thin. I’m like you I’ve always been known for my long thick hair. I definitely can not do keto when I’m in ketosis it really falls out!!
That iron deficiency is no joke. And the ice cravings is not a myth. I use to eat so much ice, I use to eat it even when I'm freezing at work as the environment was kept really cold, my coworkers use to say how can you be eating ice? 😅 I'm no longer deficient, no longer craves or eats ice.
Every woman who’s not past menopause needs to eat liver-as rare as you can take it. You must have heme iron, and heme iron comes from animal meat-red meat and organs.
I rake a childrens vitamin that has iron in it. Too much iron can be bad for your liver. Also hair loss could be due to biotin deficiency. Eating steaks is probably a great way to increase your iron.
I’ve tried all the iron pills and nothing worked and also eating red meat etc. I’ve had an iron infusion and the next step is the gyno to figure out what’s causing the excessive bleeding and other issues. The iron deficiency has been torture and I didn’t know at the start.
Anaemia eat more red meat 👍 if you like liver fresh if not liver capsules will do it that's quite unusual at your age most women do go through that definitely in there fifties obviously menopause 👍💯☺️
Cooking food in a cast iron skillet that's not glazed with a non stick. Lemon with protein. Their are several things that can help boost iron. I also wonder if your lack of absorption, I know your healthy because you make videos. But have you ever had a food allergy test? Maybe that is recking havoc on your gut stopping the absorption of iron.
Having product placement in this is sickening. Hairloss is devastating for a woman and your hair looks fine along with saying you’ve diagnosed yourself. This questions your credibility.
I was loving your content but ...for you to say you recentky experienced hair loss is a real kick in the head to those of us thst actually have hair loss. Unless of course, you are wearing a wig or extensions.
I’m dealing with this currently. I have Hashimotos (a thyroid condition) I had breast cancer at age 24 and have had 40 surgeries to date. I’m turning 62 at the end of December. I’ve recently, since then end of July, lost 45 lbs. since I have a doctors appointment on 12/9 I called him to tell him my hair was literally falling out in handfuls. Every time I wash it, it just kind of slides out when I run my fingers through it. Every time I brush it the brush is full of hair. Thankfully I have very thick hair. My skin has been extremely dry/itchy. I automatically thought it was my thyroid & never thought about iron deficiency. My doctor is ordering blood work to be done before my appointment so hopefully he’ll be able to tell me how to stop my hair from coming out. I’ve hit a plateau on the weight loss & want to drop another maybe 15 lbs which would put me at around 120 lbs. Thank you for sharing your experience, it helps to know I’m not the only one 🤍

Hashimotos is what causes 95% of hypothyroidism.
I have both hypothyroidism and anemia and post menopause. So I completely understand the hair loss. I am on meds for the thyroid and iron issues.
I have the same thing all of the above
My Mom is having terrible hair loss from hypothyroidism
Has anyone had success with a particular thyroid medicine recommendation that helps hair growth instead of causing more hair loss?
Wow, me too! However, I'm only on iron supplements. My doctor is watching my thyroid for now.
Me too but I’m on no meds 😢

Low ferritin here, too! How do you bring your ferritin levels up?
Sorry for your hair loss
Look into perimenopause. Sounds like it’s starting. See a hormonal specialist, regular doctors will tell you you’re fine and within normal levels
Thank you for sharing these protocols.
Thank you for the tips

@j.jjensen7570 thank you for the tip .

I had PICA big time when I was bleeding 28 out of 30 days a month so my doctor finally gave me a hysterectomy at age 39…💋🧚🏻♀️❤️🇺🇸

I used to take Gaia herbs many years ago! It’s a great company! Great video!!!

Every time I’ve lost weight in my life, I lose so much hair and it’s never come back 😭😭😭😭
@skulltaylor1616 oh that's terrible. 😢 it might be time to see your doctor.
Same here. Maybe 40-45% lost. It is growing back but I fear that it will never be the same. I take Biotin and hope for the best.
@lpmama1196
It's quite distressing isn't it.

A spoon of red or black caviar raises hemoglobin very quickly …. do this for a month and retest. Add 120 grams of beef liver over week as well !!!!
I’m sure you can afford it!!!!!!!

I unfortunately have to avoid LMNT as it has Maltodextrin
some shampoos have really bad chemicals in them then the same company makes restoration shampoo to regain shampoo. I use yuka to scan shampoos
😊love this app I scan everything

Just listened to podcast- forgot the brand but you can probably find beef jersey with liver and liver/organ vitamins…

How is the flavor of the liquid iron? I have a teenage daughter that has low iron

You never never ever should take a iron supplement without a doctor doing blood work and telling you to. It's very dangerous
Anyone, can you pls recommend a good healthy shampoo without chemicals. Thanks.

Losing my hair on semiglutide & I am anemic😮
I have to have IV iron infusions
Amazon sells a good one
Got my ferritin above 100 but still losing hair since COVID 2020...maybe I need more biotin too...I don't even know anymore
That's a shame. I love your gorgeous arms

Hey ladies one word…Viviscal
When I became anemic menstrual induced , I craved ice. I ended up buying a counter top ice machine because I was going through 5lb bags of ice daily
Life's Fortune multivitamin and minerals supplements saved my life. They are amazing vitamins
You’re losing your hair because your carb intake is very low. Keep it up and you will lose all your hair
My hair loss was due to low vitamin D, low ferritin and low testosterone! Finally getting it all fixed!
