Interesting fact: When Winter berates Weiss for her failure to master Summoning, she suggests that Weiss should return to her father's company and work as a receptionist. Kara Eberle, Weiss' voice actress, used to work for Rooster Teeth as a receptionist.
The amount of people I've seen being confused or even upset that Weiss didn't pick up the phone at the end is astoundingly high. It's like they didn't pay attention to Winter's advice or stopped listening halfway through (or forgot in the few minutes in between). So it was really refreshing and enjoyable to hear you two immediately zero in on the second option Winter gives out when it happens as well as your opinion about it in the discussion afterwards.
Winter's words suggest that it isn't random Grimm their family can summon - it's enemies that were significant challenges in the past, battles they won that have stayed with them. So when I first saw this episode I wondered what Weiss had been trying to call forth. That was a tiny sword at the end, by the caterpillar... Qrow wasn't quite as relaxed and open as he seemed, I realized later. He kept his nieces from asking what his mission was by making a slightly crass joke. He pulled out his old photo and started talking about his old team STRQ to stop Yang from wondering how he knows Ironwood (and then realized that was a bad idea when Yang got too interested in the picture). And even though he hasn't seen Ruby and Yang in some time and clearly adores them, he didn't stay very long.
I like that it’s clear that Winter does indeed love her sister, she’s just also a product of her environment like Weiss. The Schnee household doesn’t seem to be a very warm place from what’s been inferred after all. It’s not great but there’s also no malice and in the end she does give Weiss affirmation and some solid advice.
But what’s great is that it didn’t turn Winter completely cold, and feels like she realized that every now and then people need some reassurance and compliments. Something she probably never got but she won’t make that mistake with Weiss 😊
the song that plays during the fight between Emerald and Mercury, and Coco and Yatsuhashi is my favourite from any of the soundtrack albums its just so hype but i love the lyrics as well
Do remember to watch episodes 9 through 12 in one sitting. You can upload them however you want, one episode at a time or all at once, but you need to watch those all in one sitting. It'll be rambunctious that way.
So the people in that photo are Team STRQ. from left to right Summer (Ruby's Mom), Tai-Yang (Ruby and Yang's dad), Raven (Yang's mom), and Qrow (Raven's brother) What we know about them at this point in the series: . Summer passed away On a mission . Raven went to get milk . Tai "checked out" after Summer died but seems to be doing alright now. . you've met Drunkle Qrow
The song played during Emerald and Mercury's fight is called "I'm the One" Whenever you guys do the Volume 3 OST reaction, this is one of the songs I'm really looking forward to seeing what you guys think of it since it includes a lot of insight onto these two.
Fun Facts Fact 1: Qrow saying "never stop moving forward" is a reference to Monty Oum's personal motto: "Keep Moving Forward". Fact 2: The move Mercury uses to finish Yatsuhashi is identical to the one he performs in the Volume 2 Opening. Fact 3: When Winter berates Weiss for her failure to master Summoning, she suggests that Weiss should return to her father's company and work as a receptionist. Kara Eberle, Weiss' voice actress, used to work for Rooster Teeth as a receptionist.
Fun fact: There is a game called RWBY: Grimm eclipse, whose story takes place in between vol 2 and 3. It initially started off as a fan made game before being picked by rooster teeth(and later released as an official game). I believe the games story is canon so I won’t spoil it. The initial fan version featured Ruby fighting against a horde of beowolves and ending with a boss fight against a white beowolf. Winter’s white beowolf may have been a nod(or just a coincidence) to said boss.
Here's what I like about RWBY, every character is color coordinated with their names, case and point, Ruby and she's dressed in red and a Ruby is a Rose and an quartz. Most Japanese people enjoy one-word puns and names that ties them into their abilities, there's more examples, but you get it.
Cinder's two loyal disciples here, Emerald and Mercury, are the most skilled fighters out of all the students, rivalled only by their associate, Neo (another servant of Cinder) and Pyrrha, and outright surpassed only by their master, Cinder. They can easily beat just about anyone in this tournament, and could easily win the entire thing if they wanted to. But Cinder's Faction has no interest in winning the tournament; it's all part of Cinder's larger plan. But you'll find out what that is soon enough.
Yang get hipnotized by the photo cause it have both parents, summer rose (ruby mother), tai (both father) and raven branwen (yang mother) and qrow (the one who show the photo and their uncle)
Usually when I watch your guy's Dbz abridged and Rwby video reactions, I'm really tired and tucked out from the day and I seriously enjoy just relaxing and just enjoying life, being happy even for just a few minutes. So I want to thank you to for contributing to mine, and probably a lot of other people's happiness as well. These reactions mean more than just a few minutes of our time enjoyed. I'll be sad when dbz abridged is over, but I just wanted to take the time to give my thanks and for your guy's amazing reactions.
Thanks so much for letting us know. It means a lot to us to be a part of someone’s routine to wind down from the day or just as some fun to laugh and smile for a little bit. 😊☺️
Anyone else notice Qrow casually cover the face of the person in red in that photo with his thumb when Yang starts to look closer at it? Never noticed that before Edit after rewatching, Yang is FIXED on that photo until he puts it away Not saying names for the sake of spoilers
2 terrains for the teams round, 4 terrains for the doubles round. its a nice touch, the more varied terrains you have to deal with the less people you get to cover them
I always thought sending Coco and Yatsuhashi were a bad pair for doubles round. Sending 2 fighters with a heavy weapon, 1 with a slow fighting style and the other requiring to be stationary is just not good especially against nimble fighters. Fox would’ve been a better choice for 1 of the pair imo.
Things are starting to come together. But believe me, there’s a LOT more than this. Are you starting to feel an uncertain chill up your spines? No, not yet? Just wait. If nothing else, now you’re no longer underestimating Mercury and Emerald, right? Taking out CFVY is NOT the work of amateurs.
Emerald's semblence is interesting here isn't it? :P As for the photo. I think by know we know that Ruby and Yang are step sisters. Same dad different mom's. So when Qrow says "when i meet your parents" He meant both of their moms. Which means the two women in his team were their parents :D
Qrow is one of my all time favorite characters. Forgot to mention last episode but he is based off the scareqrow from Wizard of Oz. Winter is based off of the Snow Queen. Also: You guys would be way better parents than Weiss's father. JMHO
Ah, that makes sense. We forgot to try and figure out who each character is based off of. But qrow seems smart so odd that he is based off the scarecrow who needs a brain 🤔 his issue seems to be more of the heart and perhaps a broken one
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 The trick to Qrow's character allusions is that he's constantly drinking alcohol which can affect the mind depending on how much you drink, that and your gonna see a few times where Qrow's not exactly thinking straight in the future.
Team STRQ is Summer Rose, Tiayang Xiaolong, Raven Branwen, and Qrow Branwen. Yang was staring at her mom (Raven) in the picture until Qrow covered her face. He probably did so cause he noticed Yang's expression. We know Tiayang and Raven are Yang's parents and we know Summer is Ruby's mom and, according to cannon, we know Tiayang is Ruby's father. I, however, will always be one of those people that believes in the fan theory that Qrow is Ruby's real father. Remember this team. I won't say why, but they are all very important.
- "They do, and they're called silver!" Heh, you would bring that up, Ruby. - "Keep moving forward" was a favorite quote of Monty's - and is a strong driving force in the plot of RWBY. - Yang was focused on a certain woman with long black hair in that photo... - Fun fact: Kara Eberle, the voice of Weiss, started off in Rooster Teeth as a receptionist. - That tiny sword that Weiss managed to summon? That's the sword that the Arma Gigas she fought used.
Fun fact: Coco is a confirmed lesbian (Don't worry that's not really a spoiler since it was brought up in one of the canon novels but not the show itself)
I hope you guys do episodes a bit more often. Ik it’s probably for like an algorithm thing but these episodes feel so short until season 4 onwards and I’m impatient XD
😂 well this one felt longer because we had a mistake where we posted two episodes in one day. So didn’t have one for last week. And yes, we are servants of the almighty algorithm 🤗
I love how the Emerald + Mercury vs. Coco + Yastuhashi (?) shows a very cleaf difference in experience. From the season 2 final, team CFVY is quite a strong group, but Emerald and Mercury are train, experienced criminals. Their song on the season 3 soundtrack really delves into it.
Schnee family is dysfunctional and Winter gave up the inheritance and joined the military to get out of it, leaving Weiss as the heiress. Winter is Weiss's only family role model.
11:18 Maybe Yang was fixated on the photo because that lady in red that appeared and scared Neo away last Volume on the train looked an awful lot like her mother Raven who is the lady in red in that photo with Qrow, Tai (Yang and Ruby's dad), and Summer (Ruby's mom). Team STRQ (Summer, Tai, Raven, Qrow) was talked about last Volume.

Nice little Easter egg there 😀
I still get a kick out of Ruby's response, "They do! And they're called silver!" such a quick an witty response also showing how optimistic Ruby is.
Just like her eyes lol
It just hurts now...
Last episode was a great one. I am happy to see Ruby dealing with things. It does hurt for sure.
