Interesting review. Might get one to compare directly to the Flir One I have. The use of the phone battery is a bonus, forever going to the Flir to find it needs charging. price seems similar to the Seek unit though.
Flir One comparison from another viewpoint would be nice.It's definitely an excellent imaging tool and the Android app is exceptionally well behaved. As you say the no batteries required is a bonus.👍
i'm curious if you are able to zoom in with the image like regular phone camera, or if it's a static image.
Can you record video, or is it just photos?
Also, if it doesn't fit in your phone case, just use a USB extension cable. Gives more flexibility for use.
No zoom capabilities, however, you can record photos or videos which is very good.

I have a question. Im concerned about long term support. What happens when topdon stops supporting the app? Will the device become useless? How do you feel about long term support?
That's a relevant question. I think there's alot of momentum for thermal cams that piggyback on other hardware so it's safe to say they will be around for many years to come. I wouldn't be too concerned about lack of support anytime soon. 😅👍
@KeepOnTesting I agree. I just can't decide between this device or the tc004 which is more expensive but doesn't connect to wifi(I think?).

I can't imagine doing professional or semi-professional repairs without one of these. They save so much time when looking for a short circuit. And it's always great to have good quality tools that are reasonably priced.
But the fact that you can't use a phone case with it because of its short USB-C is a major downsize. 😐
Agreed..the phone case issue is a bummer especially as phones are so darn slippery. Another few mm would have resolved this... 🤔

@@KeepOnTesting my english is not good. I was walking in a dark park and couldnt seen 2 men on the way ten meters ahead of me. I was surprised. That was not what I had expected
@@hanschenklein7990 Perhaps your thermal sensor needed recalibration .
I can say that this worked incredibly well at detecting heat signatures in the dark during my testing both inside and outside. Thx for following up. 😀

Hi, thanks for the vid. Does this work well at a medium range? I need a camera that can detect head loss from buildings. Can I stand on a street and monitor a house from a distance of around 30feet (10m)?
Good question..and yes it does..it will still detect emissivity from that distance. 👍

A device that broadcasts via Wi-Fi to the smartphone, tablet or TV screen instead of attaching itself to the type-c socket would be better. Even charging the phone once daily can loosen the USB type-c socket within a year. All good except for this and the fact that you missed the opportunity to show how cool or hot you are on camera! 😉
That's a good point..it does have the included extender cable if required so it could alleviate some of that USB-C/Phone mount/unmount stress. Heheh, no worries about my thermal selfie..I'll make sure to include that in my next Thermal camera review ;)
3.5 years into my current Android phone (OnePlus 8 pro) daily charging plus random use of my tc001 thermal camera and whatever other usb c connections and no issues whatsoever with my usb c port. I think your concern is very minor in the scheme of things. I might have concerns if my phone had a usb micro port, but not usb c.
@@speedlever well majority of the cheapo users have phones like Redmi, Xiaomi or other budget branded phones. At least here in India so, yeah. Fine for premium branded stuff though.

Do you really see lots of usb c port failures? Wouldn’t surprise me if they simply need cleaning, but I would think usb c port failure would be very rare.
