Now I may be biased but this has to be one of the best and most transparent videos that sits in the “whilst not technically sponsored you got a goody for free”range.
A balanced opinion on the pro’s and cons with an excellent example of the unit in operation.
I’ve had my eye on these things for ages now but not for retro repair - more for checking my old heat leaky house for cold/hotspots.
Thanks for sharing- as always a great video

      Thanks J!
The first thing I did was go round my house checking for hot power supplies. And as soon as it gets too hot or cold again this week be getting a workout!

I’ve used FLIR devices for over 20 years professionally. The progress in the technology is phenomenal. The first ones I used had backpack battery and cooling solutions. I love that the cost of these devices is putting them in reach of hobbyists now, such a powerful tool.

A backpack?!?! Definitely would have cosplayed that as a ghostbuster!

@@MoreFunMakingIt they were bloody heavy back then. And fell firmly in the realm of magic rather than science

I also had a thermal cam on my wish list, I better start saving up to get one of these.

When these get to £100 I'll get one. As 'cool' as they are I'll mainly be using it as a toy so struggle to justify buying one :) Thanks for the video!

I think they will be coming down in price drastically soon. There seems to be a whole raft of these with very similar specs suddenly on the market. Eventually that should push the price down. They really are very useful, not just in the workshop. I spent a while going round my house checking to see if any power supplies were getting too hot. Put my mind at rest.

Great review and demo on the product! I have a temp gun that only shows the temperature value and seems to work for me and very cheap. For me, the prices are still high for a hobby. Thanks for sharing.

I was considering a temp gun for this use before this came along. Very handy tool and does the same thing on the end!

@More Fun Making It Camera is nicer, but for me, the price is the biggest issue

I really want that camera, but it's just for a hobby and it would be the most expensive piece of kit by far.

I got the Infiray T2S+ its extremely good and prior to that had a Seek thermal. I used it on an Atari 65XE with black screen and it highlighted a bad RAM chip straight away, I swapped it and it worked :)

Happy days! The TC002 is the same as this bit with a lighting connector. That being said I'd still wait till your iPhone has USBC just for future proofing

      @RetrogradeScene ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@MoreFunMakingIt yeah I won’t be getting anything new with a lightning connector again.

It would be interesting to test with and without heatsinks and see how much of a difference they make.

In the time I've had this one the process dropped a good chunk. I think they might be coming down even more just from the weight of competition. Just my guess though
