The last couple of times Ive been at CP its been PodPoint rather than VendElectric. I didnt charge because now theres a cost and anyway I didnt need to charge. IMO they have wholly insufficient charging spots there at the three I went to 4 at Longleat. Maybe (from memory) 8 at Woburn and same at Elveden. Looks like theyve really stepped up at Nottingham with all those chargers plus the off peak charging. Excellent. hopefully thats been /is being replicated at other parcs now? Question, is any money left over in your vend electric account now stuck there?Or can it be retrieved? FInally, hopefully they are able to tow away and crush the ICEing vehicles 😬
When we went to Milton Keynes (Woburn Centre Parcs) they were installing a huge bank of chargers. My sister in law recently went to Longleat and they're installing a big bank of chargers too, we go at the end of April and hopefully they will be commissioned by then. This overnight charging makes huge sense.
Very interesting video. Thanks. I've also noticed some other networks label 'connected time' as 'charging time' - something that's always confused me. Hope you enjoyed your break and thanks again!
The parking there is open to ICE cars as well. Spaces only reserved for EV if you have booked a space which is very easy to do and there was loads of availability when there a month ago if you haven’t booked. The signs can be changed if the space is booked.
Sorry NEVER going to use a credit account.. this is not the future we want.. How about I give you a preauth on my card you bill me for what I've used..
Rolec have been in touch to say a number of points are available at CP Nottingham to use 24/7 for day visitors. Thanks for such a great review of your charging experience at @CenterParcsUK. It’s worth also noting that for day visitors or anyone requiring to charge up during peak hours, there is a day charging zone at each site (the large blue chargers in the background of your video) 👏🏻⚡️
I’ve just prebooked a space for my arrival day and departure day (now looks as though departure day is obsolete :)). Weirdly it books for 11am to 11:59am. Am I still ok to park and leave over the whole break there?
Do you have to use a different app to the one you normally would you use for example Bp Pulse. I can’t find where to reserve your space on the website.
Its the 'pod point' app you need for center parcs, and as so many points you dont need to book a slot. Find a charging bay , note the name on the charge post , plug in then sit in your ev and open the app , and search your location , then search your named charge point , and start your charge ( you get 15 minutes free allowing time for you to 'officially' start a charge)
I don’t like how the cost of charging there is high considering they’re most likely buying the electricity at a super low rate with it being off peak charging only. They should be charging something like 15-20p per KWH. Rip off and having to load your account with credit with yet another different charging company is an awful concept.
Choice ! No one is forced to use these chargers , personally im happy to pay for the convenience, and the up front costs of these chargers are huge , will take YEARS to break even !
Great that the chargers are designed to only work during off peak times however…..I just looked at the vendelectric app and it is completely slated as a terrible app. People have issues with it not working and effectively refusing to give money they’ve loaded back. It gets one star on the App Store and there are zero reviews above one star that are not obviously employees…..
@@JonathanPorterfield I think this is a really good idea, just pointing out that people have had issues with vendelectric……you can download the app easily but then it can fall apart.
When are people going to stop calling 7kw "fast"? It's misleading & counterproductive for the energy transition People are smart enough to understand liters & liters per second, so why hide the actual speed behind a term that isn't representative?
I believe the term 'fast' was used before rapid chargers came to the UK. At 7kw they were fast compared with 3kw slow. My first 2x Leafs could only charge at 3kw so, when I bought a Leaf with a 7kw charger, it felt very 'fast'.
Since 2011 in the uk we have called chargers in this order. 3 pin plug ,and 3kw AC 'slow' 7kW up to 22kW posts AC 'fast' 50kW DC and up ' Rapids' Tesla DC Rapids , ' Superchargrs'
Utterly brilliant!
It looks good and changed a lot in a year. I was there for a week end of September 2021 and there was only about 10 charge points.

My balance will stay there for next time we are at CP or i want to use any Rolec fast chargers.
We were at Woburn the other week and they've almost finished building the same facility as Jonathan used here. I can't wait!
That is a great setup with 11pm starting time. Very sensible, I guess most people are there for more than one day.
Rolec tweeted in responce to my video that 4 of those charges can be used at anytime and are signed as such !

just downloaded the app and checked Woburn (94 overnight chargers!) Fantastic
Fantastic news , well done CP 👏 ✔️ 👍

Thanks for watching, and yes we had a good break with grandson , despite the rain !
thanks very much for this advice - I am about to go to Center Parcs which is very helpful
Thanks for your comments and watching 👍

Fabulous!
Hi, thanks for this, helps with my parking anxiety ! When booking it mentions group A, B or C - does it matter which group?
Dont think so , is that just the parking / charging areas ?
A good system if you are staying overnight at CP. However, CP also have day visitors so to only to be able charge overnight isn't so good.

Yes , that was ok with CP when i was there 👌

What was the cost per KW
39p
All good apart from prepayment loading on the app. Everyone else has scrapped this even Geniepoint.
Prepayment in apps are a bit of a con. You always end up with credit you never use.
Was it byo cable?
All EVs have type 2 cables in the boot ( or fruit!) So yes BYO 🙌
@@JonathanPorterfield hardly any do in NZ, from the manufacturer at least.
Great solution though
Hoow many chargers were there ?
50 units , each with 2 conections, so 100 charge sockets
Hi JP, you picked my singing night so I can't join you, sorry. Hope you get a few folk to chat with.👍
Next time jude 👍

Why don’t they clamp the ice car which are using the wrong car park . Nice way pay for the up keep of the chargers
