First congrats on 3K, my first ride VW Golf love it! Lack of infrastructure definitely key to poor BEV sales. And finally RIVIAN bring back the freaking glove box!!!
People still have change anxiety, but the real problem is price. $45k for an R2 is definitely not game changing for the market. The model y and several Korean options are already there. That’s why they sell. Hopefully it will be a game changer for Rivian. I’m an early R2 reservation holder and I really want the company to survive for the long haul
I don’t understand how Rivian is top in satisfaction and bottom in reliability. I’ve owned two (Gen 1 and Gen 2) and never had any issues, which is why I would rank it high in satisfaction. Makes me wonder what they are factoring in for reliability.
Agreed, I don’t really understand that either as you would think they would contraindicate one another. I assume it’s more about fit and finish issues that result in a service center visit during pick up process.
I’ve been a Gen 2 R1S owner for a month. Satisfaction is def 10/10 as it’s a new experience in driving you can’t describe. From driving to infotainment it’s absolutely amazing. Reliability issues come in the fact my vehicle will not charge at a Level 3 fast charger but charges perfectly fine at home with my Level 2. Kind of a bummer and limiting in my abilities to travel far from home. Actually had to be towed home yesterday and soonest service appointment is January 7th. Louisiana so limited for service center as well (Houston). Still don’t regret buying for one second even while I watched my live cameras on the tow home 😅
I think a large part of it involves service center experience. I’ve had my R1T since March of this year and my truck has been into service three times. The first two involved correcting issues discovered during delivery. They didn’t get them all addressed on the first visit so a second was required. First visit was 3 or 4 weeks, second was 5 or 6 weeks. Each time the truck sat for 2 weeks before being looked at. Third visit was to replace the 12v battery and I refused to leave it there, so that was same day. While I haven’t had major issues, the problems I did have resulted in me not having the truck I’m paying for for 2 months out of 9. That’s not reliability inspiring.
My first car was a Pontiac sunbird. We called it the sun turd after collecting all the buttons that fell off over time and glued them back over the years. Love our R1S being mostly touch screen.
10:01 unnecessary sacrifice. Like you pointed out it’s already lacking a glovebox. I can’t imagine removing that little plastic cubby moving the needle much at all in terms of cost savings.
“Cost cutting” of a storage cubby on a vehicle that starts around $70k is absolutely insane. If the under-seat cubby goes away are they adding a glove box? Wth…
First car was a 1980 Oldsmobile Omega. Great reliable vehicle at the time. Slight difference in technology compared to my 2024 Tesla MYP. Looking forward to the R2 release in 2026, which cannot come soon enough. Thanks for the great video updates!
First car was a 1984 Chevy Caprice Classic. I accidentally locked the keys in it and the high school principal told me to just leave it there; it was a fortress and I was never getting back into it. 😂
FIRST CAR *** 2012 Chocolate Brwn Kia Soul Sport with Pwr Sun/Moon Roof and Eco Drive Mode / Factory Tinted Windows / SIRUS XM + CD + 3FM Levels & 36 Programmable stations / Pwr Windows / 18" Chrome Sport Wheels *** I traded it in for my 2025 Dual Performance R1T. "ADVENTURE IS ALWAYS OUT THERE!"
@@MikeKantorskiTech Going matte. Dropped it off this morning. My detailer and I are going to create a video about putting it on. Super excited about that part. Get it back the end of the week.
I put a deposit down on the R2 and will dump my model Y to get one! That is an easy decision for me. My concern now though is hearing talk from the incoming administration to probably try and put a halt to the 6.6 billion loan from the DOE. Admittedly I am not sure what if any safeguards are in place to prevent that from happening. My other worry is the 20,000 striking against VW and if the company can find a way through that just how financially reliable will they be with their 5.8 billion deal for Rivian going forward.. I agree that the cheaper R2 and 3 is very much needed. But a year from now? I really worry they may not have that long. I do hope for the best for Rivian. Also, wondering what guarantees can Rivian make on a warranty if they cannot make it through next year because I would buy the R1T if the R2 is not able to be produced. But servicing for the truck could be an issue in that event. Rough waters ahead I fear.
Rough waters ahead but they’ve been managing well, especially during such a difficult economic time. Luckily R2 reservation is refundable and you can wait and see how everything turns out. I’m optimistic, I’m biased for sure but any product with this high of customer satisfaction always figures it out in the end. Time will tell.
Rivian's R2/R3 gameplan is preposterous. The R2 is tentatively planned for Jun '26. For Rivian, this could really mean Jun '36. Rivian is tracking to declare bankruptcy sometime in '25. By selling the R1S for $90k, Rivian is losing $1.5 bill/qtr. By selling the slightly smaller R2 for $45k, Rivian's losses will probably double. In the meantime, good luck trying to find buyers of the R1S for $90k; when Hyundai and others bring out similar vehicles for much less. In summary, very unlikely Rivian will ever sell even one R2. Very likely Rivian enters bankruptcy in '25 at the latest
Buddy! You should get to the point fast that you mentioned in the thumbnail. I come to your channel to look for any unknown offers. 2 min in and I close and go directly to Rivian website. Waste of time.

Agreed, price is a struggle still.
I don’t understand how Rivian is top in satisfaction and bottom in reliability. I’ve owned two (Gen 1 and Gen 2) and never had any issues, which is why I would rank it high in satisfaction. Makes me wonder what they are factoring in for reliability.

@tigerbait091 well hopefully they can get that all squared away! I’m glad you still love it 😊 the wait is the worst part

@scullen96 this is definitely an issue they have. So hopefully improved quality off the line can eliminate this and free up service

10:01 unnecessary sacrifice. Like you pointed out it’s already lacking a glovebox. I can’t imagine removing that little plastic cubby moving the needle much at all in terms of cost savings.
Also adds a different seat type so I’m unsure how this simplifies the line
My first car was a Ford Pinto 😂 Keep up the great work!

First was 2011 Kia optima sx. It’s got over 160k mileage and still runs well.

“Cost cutting” of a storage cubby on a vehicle that starts around $70k is absolutely insane. If the under-seat cubby goes away are they adding a glove box? Wth…
Yeah it seems silly
