I first bought an SD9 back in the early 80s, and it became "my sound" for a long time. I had no idea that it was also so important to Mr. Landau (and it was always dismissed by others as inferior to the TS9, etc.), so when I found out I was excited and also bought this Butter Machine immediately when it became available. Thank you all so much!
I was sceptical when this video popped up in my recommendations. As a reflex I thought "cash-grab", "hype" and similar things. Sure, ML can make a broom sing, but this pedal sounds astounding, creating an instant skank face. Worth every penny, congratulations!
Michael Landau could play a Squier with a Behringer pedal and it would sound as good as those expensive pedal, what you can not buy is Mr. Landau's unique talent.
tried the Maxon SD9: didnt fit my board pedals AT ALL...: BUTT: LOVING : MXR Fet Driver!( bought 2 for 200€, discontinued...):Warm Jazz tones..., also loving the Wampler Euphoria: soo versatile cause its hi headroom: I have the vol about 9 oclock...!(( both Fet Driver n Euphoria can be set from warm cleans to higher gain, which is a sign of a marvellous pedal: low it melts with your base tone, and then you can gradually tweak it more toward gainier tones...)) My utmost always on first in chain ped is Mad Professor Simble: I have lots of drives after it, but if I stomp it off the tone slackens away, and its not even ina specificly warm setting, go figure! Mysterious are them ways of the guitar pedals! I also recommend Joyo Taichi( very close to Hermida Zendrive), VERTEX Dynamic Distortion(seafoam color) and DOD Looking Glass..., all very dynamic! CHEERS from Kimmo
Vemuram, move the trim pot to the front of the pedal face with controls plus use Top Jacks. its hard to troubleshooting bad patch cables pedals with sidejacks
@@PedalPoopers Too much is made of " tone", and the reason is, you can sell "tone" in the form of equipment , but you cant sell talent, artistry and uniqueness .I don't think it's a good or bad tone, not like SRV or Jimi Hendrix best moments ,but Landau is such a great player and he plays great music.

can't get enough of hearing Landau playing... thanks for the video!
I absolutely love it. Dynamic and open, with a quality of grind I've never heard in another pedal. Worth every penny.
That's how the sd9 is lol
@@0megalul309 I get that. I have both. The SD-9 sounds boxy in comparison. At least in my rig.
@@spiltmilk615 most Vemuram users have cheap amps cos they spend all their money on pedals
I've been a fan of Michael Landau's playing for long,
and this pedal seems to capture his signature sound perfectly🙌
Incredible Mike. Stellar tone as usual my friend
Mike is the man! Great pedal, great sound!!!

Equally skeptical, then I remembered I have a Jan-Ray which is just unreal. So I give Vemuram the benefit of the doubt.
@@doubled5383 I am very pleased with the LP Tchula, but this seems like no bs
Greatness! Very cool vibe on the demo. Look forward to giving the Butter Machine a churn.... ; )
My favorite guitar player. I’m getting one.
Sounds like the 'money for nothing' tone. Nice!
Well, I bought the SD9 sometime in the late 80s/early 90s….still have it and love it….
You guys need to get more content on here! I have the Budi G and Shanks OD and they are awesome! Thatpedalshow did a great demo of this on Friday :)

it´s so inspiring to hear ML with overdrive, he sounds different no matter which pedal or guitar he is using.
Well that was lovely
LOVE it
I have the Jan Ray, Shanks, Budi G and Myriad fuzz...bloomin brilliant pedals; only one drawback though, I'm now broke.
Tito get me some tissue! Incredible
Hype level: TO THE MOON!!!!
I just wish the price wasn’t insane. Otherwise cool stuff.

So i just got the Geisha.sounds like this to me.
Coast Highway. Santa Monica.
Are your pedals all original designs?
👍👍👍
Alright, Daddy
$400 retail and reverb scalpers are selling for $6,000 y’all are out of your minds if you think selling this repackaged Maxon SD-9
Love Landau! The pedal, not for me.
Only Michael Landau could make a very mediocre tone such as this sound so epically musical
Interesting to call his tone "very mediocre" though....
