Good grief, this was my first time hearing this edit. Wow. Can’t lie, I’d prefer to hear the original, but this showcases Chris’s vocals in a way that’s making me really emotional. Damn….❤️🩹
Dave, I see that you are finally starting to realize that CC is one of the greatest to date for all genres to date...and its really not close. Glad people are sending you quite a timeline of his work with various bands.
my wife passed away 3 yrs ago , unexpectedly at 38, every time I hear this song I think of you my angel, god I miss u so fn much, ik you are with Chris and Andy singing with the other angels, as the tears pour out of my face!!!!! SAY HELLO TO HEAVEN
I've actually never heard this version but love how it showed off Chris' voice. Fyi Mike Mcready was the guitar player. Great review but definitely not the best version of the song. Its ironic between this review and the mad season review it seems you are a bigger fan of Mike's work with other bands over pearl jam. Not that you trash him with pj but you seem to like his style more with other bands.
This final versions with drums actually sounds better the drumming on the studio version is perfect and really adds to the song and the drumming is quite sparse. And laid back and Adda a killer groove
This song drug? This isn't the original song. But still, this song is a masterpiece. One of the best vocal performances of all time. There's nothing about it that drags imo
As others point out, the original studio brings a different feel. I’ve never heard this version...didn’t even know it existed. I’m glad you brought it to my attention. While I like the original better, this is a nice little masterpiece for a change of pace. It’s like beer. I love my cheap stuff but a nice exotic microbrew hits the spot from time to time.
I recommended this song as well but I offered a link to the studio version. Might be worth listening to as the complete arrangement gives it a completely different feel. Not necessarily on the channel but I’d hate for you to miss out on it.
David Heretic such an important question. As you may know, he is someone who has reinvented himself a few times throughout his career. I usually suggest chronological order. That being said - the best song on his first album, is this one. You may know him as a gravelly singer, but on his first album he was quite smooth sounding. I dont think he will win you over on song complexity (especially not as this stage of his career), but lyrically keep in mind, he wrote this song when he was 22 years old. If you like it, i can certainly suggest more... th-cam.com/video/y9Mse62NFl4/w-d-xo.html
Good honest reaction. No idea how a rock fan had never heard that song before, but whatever. Chris Cornell's vocals in the upper register were unparalleled......thank God we had him while we did😢
Absolutely! Has worked its way up to being one of my favorite CC songs of all time, always liked it but didn't give it much attention at first but every time I listened to it I liked it more and more
As others have mentioned, this feels like a weird remix. When it started, I thought they had linked you to a version where a stereo channel had been dropped, until I realized it was just the drums dropped, the bass faded, and the filters on the guitars changed. Those sound like the original tracks gone through a remix+remaster; much more barebones, and stripped of the wall of reverb, chorus and fuzz originally on those guitar parts (because '90s).. Not sure how I feel about it. It really does feel more like what the song always should have been, and what might have been produced if it was released even a year or two later, but also like I’m having a Barenst(e/a)in Bears moment. There are some tracks on Ten and the Ten Brendan O’Brien anniversary remix that are fundamentally different songs by scraping off the post-’80s guitar effects. ”Why Go?” is practically a different song, despite using the same stems. The studio version was just chock full of effects as era-specific sonic filler.
Oh damn you David, damn you!! This song has several strings attached to myself outside this being for Andy Wood! Time for me to get emotional again, more so with Chris passing on from us... :(
The no drums reaction goes to show how incredible Chris's voice was. I would suggest listening to the original with Dave Cameron on drums!! 🤘🏻🔥🖤🔥🤘🏻 #ChrisCornell #Soundgarden #MusicLegend
Bro this is not the original version. Never even heard it without drums. Also...maybe you should start paying attention to the lyrics. This is a very emotional song about his roommate Andy Wood of Mother Love Bone who overdosed (the band that was the precursor to Pearl Jam). If you paid attention to the lyrical content, you’d understand WHY the song was composed as it was. Lyrics need to start factoring into your “ratings”
I think the reason he doesn't focus on the lyrics is because it might take his mind off everything else I dunno. I would like it if he did too but I still love his reactions.
From a Mel Brooks movie entitled "Blazing Saddles". In the governors office, right after the governor tells all of his cabinet members they need to save their phony bologna jobs. One of my top 3 favorite Mel Brooks movies, along with Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.
It's kind of like Pearl Jam. I wouldn't call myself a fan YET....but I definitely have a much deeper appreciation for them than I had before I started this channel.

Sorry dave , but for you to say drum aint gonna work is just wrong... in this track the drums are muted.. however.. in the full songs it works just fine.....
Weird someone wanted to have you react to the version with no drums... This is not the actual version it's a studio edit
Dude was magical enough on the mic to have Eddie fucking Vedder as backup vocals.
This version was released after Cornell's passing. RIP Chris and Andy.
before bro

I’ve never heard this version without Matt on drums. Cool. The positive: more Chris up front!!!!
MAtts not on the studio version of this
@@SmethiousRebornHe sure is. Matt Cameron is listed in the liner notes as “drums, percussion”.

This would be a 9 plus if you reviewed the Moore theater live version or the original

Yeah man please review the original or the live version from Moore theater no offense but this version sucks😂 but does isolate Chris’s vocals.
Yeah for some reason they took the drums off this. Please check out the original.
RIP Chris Cornell. Say Hello to Heaven and my Dad for me.

It's weird with the drums missing, but it kinda fits with the song ngl. Like it gives off that peaceful vibe that I think the song has.
It sounds good without drums, but it is much better with percussion. Matt Cameron's drumming is unique, its not a typical beat
Matt is like a cross between Bill ward and Neil Peart with his own flavor thrown in . Not surprising Matt played drums on geddy Lee's solo album
First time hearing this version!
I'm subbing bro! Temple of the Dog Your Savior is 🔥🔥🤘🤘!
I never heard this version before.
I recommended this song as well but I offered a link to the studio version. Might be worth listening to as the complete arrangement gives it a completely different feel. Not necessarily on the channel but I’d hate for you to miss out on it.
This is the studio version but with the drums muted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Without a doubt... my new favorite reaction channel. Please get into tom waits
I'm down to get started on him, I'll need a link so I get started on the right foot.

If you haven’t already done so, “Call Me a Dog” is a phenomenal song off the same album. Which I’m more than sure you’ll enjoy.
I'll need a link so I watch the correct video.

This is a demo version . That is why there is no drums. The actual album version had drums.
As others have mentioned, this feels like a weird remix.

The original studio version is special - this version does not do it justice, to be honest. I highly recommend you check out the original version.
this is the original version but without the drums
Such a perfect 😍 song 🎵
eek.. this isn't the studio version. where are the drums?

Yeah I've never heard this version either. There's supposed to be drums from beginning to end.
where does the harumpgh come from!@?!?!?

@Andy-jz9qe It would NEVER make it past standards and practices unfortunately. Too many people would be offended and butthurt.
As noted, real version with drums light years better
This sounds like the demo version off of the 25th anniversary re-release 🤔
please react to the original version
Your so funny Dh😂

I'm surprised you didn't mention the harmonies at your 1st pause...
Okay, I'll continue on now...
Just doesn't sound right without the drums. ☹️

That's not the album version sorry
This is a demo version of the song lol
wrong
Don't believe this in right version but I trouble getting through this song regardless so I'm going to cash out. Original is killer. This ain't it.
I just won't say anything....
Ok I will, this isn't the studio version
