Benedict Cumberbatch joins BBC Radio 1's film critic Ali Plumb to talk about the latest Marvel superhero movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He's not taking it seriously, because it isn't serious. He's doing it with love, because we do love the material, the characters, and the actors.
It’s so refreshing to hear an actor admit to actually reading the comics, instead of just posing with them or going in blind.
Benedict is the kind of actor who will do his homework for his role. Granted that he will play this character for the next 10 years, so he is basically absorbing the all the available materials. The Russo brothers even trusted him with the script for Infinity War, so that he could understand how important his role for the plot.
@@litezhowey And not to bash any of the other Avengers actors, but Benedict is a really professional guy. If there’s any of the Avengers cast I’d trust with the complete script it’d be him, you can kind of just tell that he takes it all very seriously and understands how little can be spoiled about these movies- because even the smallest things can lead fans to connecting certain dots.

LISTEN. That goatee reveal was epic. If anyone has earned the right to cameo in a Marvel film, it's Ali and his Plums. I genuinely look forward to his interviews as a companion piece for every film that comes out.

This was the most relaxed and fun interview I’ve ever seen. This guy is so likeable. He’s not just asking the questions but he makes it fun for the interviewee and the viewer. He doesn’t just ask random questions and sound thirsty for answer from them, like Captain cringe from IGN

love this, Benedict is one of the most likeable & charismatic actors of all time
he is hugely successful and highly acclaimed yet still so down to earth, humble and able to make fun of himself. Benedict also recently opened his home for Ukrainian refugees, truly a good person.

Loved how colorful and distinct Benedict put life to his character as Doctor Strange! The voice, it's in the voice!

Ali is hands down my favorite interviewer. He always has such a great rapport with whoever he’s interviewing.
Its amazing to see actors/actresses actually interact with Ali. He seems to bring out the best in them.
Loved the movie especially the scenes when he’s in civilian clothing. Something about superheroes doing normal everyday stuff just appeals to me

This interview was amazing. Benedict was hilarious. Ali Plump always does a great job and you can tell the guests always feel good in front of him.
I love how Ali and the Marvel cast are basically chill friends at this point because they’ve worked together so much, and Ali is fantastic at making everyone comfortable🥺❤️

This was most fun interview in recent times... there was a smile on my face through out the interview, and Benedict is really humble sharing his experiences from before entering the MCU

Thoroughly enjoying Ali's interviews with the cast! Loving how he knew he couldn't ask much about the current film so he just talks about the past films which couldn't be discussed during those press tours back then!

I like how Ali doesn’t really ask the usual questions. Because they get asked a LOT. The amount of times Robert Pattinson was asked on the press tour of The Batman things like how he got the gig, what it felt like wearing the suit, if he really did wear Clooney’s suit, etc- it got very repetitive. Ali Plumb mostly asks very different questions- he brings up behind the scenes stuff from previous movies, stuff like how he’s been directed (which led to Benedict’s demonstration of Sam Raimi’s style of directing which I thought was really interesting)- he knows what to ask that gets people interested, and what will get the interviewee more invested. Radio 1 struck gold bringing in Ali Plumb, he’s so good.

I remember one of the first interviews the interviewer did with RDJ, he was having a nervous attack and about to pass out, and look how comfortable and so natural he is now! He asks fun questions and yet gets the impotant points, he totally got the assignment.

Sometimes i wonder if BC is doing this just for the paycheck, but then he clearly knows everything about the movies and the character and gets defensive if someone, for example, calls the cloak a cape. in other words, BC is the real deal and i think hes awesome.
