- James is joined by Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen from "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness". Benedict recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, while Elizabeth has been spending a lot of time in England lately and has observed that English people seem to like eating slices of birthday cake in the park for breakfast. And James finds out how both Benedict and Elizabeth considered acting under different last names.

My hubby loves cycling the Parks. Those cyclists need the calories to get back. Also for all the runners a reward for making it round. Few cafes & afternoon teas make Elisabeth absolutely right 😎❤️

This is so good! I have never heard of the cake thing either and pretty much all my family is English, other than the ones who live in New Zealand like myself. I was so curious that I googled Richmond England cake for breakfast, and sure enough it's a thing.
Cake and coffee is very much a thing in the UK. Especially if you’ve gone out for a walk. You stop for coffee and cake.
There is a cafe called "cake for breakfast" but I live near Richmond and go there alot. I have NEVER seen people eating cake at breakfast or any other time.

As a foreigner living in Britain and huge lover of Britain, I always had the same attitude as Lizzie about the rain. To truly become one of the Brits, you must *never* wield an umbrella

@@Jessica_Multiverse The climate here means that there are lots of short minor rain showers, that it's easier to just ignore. You get slightly wet but it won't go through your coat in a few minutes that you might be out in it so why bother carrying an umbrella around all day? You soon dry out once you're inside.
There's also the point that most people don't carry umbrellas around because the rain is unpredictable. Unlike a lot of the world it can rain here on any day of the year, we don't have dry summer and wet winters, we have slightly drier summers and slightly wetter winters, but it's damp all year round. So you don't carry an umbrella around with you because it might rain, but it might not, and people see that the inconvenience of carrying it outweighs the possibility of getting a bit wet.
If you come from somewhere which has different weather, and rain is either heavy or non-existent, and you know when it will happen, then this may surprise you, but it's just something to get used to if you live in the UK

Coffee and cake is very common throughout Britain I’m not sure why James and Benedict are acting like its not. Most cafes especially in parks and rural areas where people go for walks have a selection of freshly baked cakes on display and people go in to have coffee and a slice of cake.
That's was she was saying, she also said te or coffee, but the morning was coffee and a slice of cake.
True in general, but definitely not at 7am! That’s a late morning/afternoon thing. I was absolutely mirroring their looks of bafflement. Pastries, sure! But not cake.

Seattle has a similar attitude with rain and clothes. Which is why I have my Filson (a local brand) wool felt hat, and a Columbia coat.

She says birthday cake because Americans don’t really do cake other than for celebrations. They sell muffins and cupcakes. But in the UK its very common to go into a cafe and see whole cakes on display and you get a slice of it with your coffee. Coffee and cake is very common throughout the whole of the UK not just Richmond. Its most common in places where people go for walks or cycle rather than in busy cities.

haha as a Brit, we do not have cake for breakfast! We do like cake for brunch/elevenses though at coffee shops/tea rooms. I have in fact been to a lovely tea room in the middle of Richmond park for cake 😂
