This hack is especially amazing for the Kosmic Bingo card, and it's got a lot of pretty color schemes, too.

My reaction, since I'm so used to seeing Toad standing there: "Oh no, it's a tombstone, did Toad die? That's dark."

i have a feeling a lot of the bright backgrounds are down to the people who make them testing their hacks in FCEUX, which has a more saturated but lower brightness palette so the colours probably look more sensible when played through that

There was a mild import of later Mario game sprites without any big changes (vertical, backwards scroll). The levels though were good, official Nintendo-like. On smwcentral, this would be a great hack in the standard genre.
That daisy chain thing would be very easy to program into a hack

I really liked this one. Good variety of map design. Good palettes. And I really liked that it didn't look impossible like so many others. Really well done. Also, bingo.
The red sideways bricks in the castle is reminiscent to me of a Zelda 2 dungeon

The level design here was top notch honestly!
Super fun game play with attractive graphics. SF mario is always awesome and it is very satisfying to watch shells kill bullet bills or any other enemy not on the ground. Unofficial laws might have been broken from too many empty blocks (although that seems to be a common) but you certainly got your literal kicks otherwise. Great vid as usual 🌠

He's missing bullet bill flag pole glitch which he could have done one level I believe - same level of the despawn or were they too high?
If infinite 1ups are on your bingo card, this one has that, too.

Great hack, and deeply enjoyed that you were really off your game, extra funny that you constantly lost your power ups.
looking at the thumbnail, the only thing i cared about was mario's walk frame had his eye the exact same to the older version of that sprite (also his colors are similar to his older version)

It would have been interesting to play this in my prime back in 89-90. I just don't play enough SMB anymore to be good at this. While the difficulty is maddening it does have fun ideas and good presentation with good visuals.

Everything besides bowser (including firebars, hammers, etc.) disappears upon touching the axe. And then it just doesn't work, can't take damage when touching it anymore

This hack feels very 90s, which is weird because the game is from the 80s and the hack was made in the late 2010s.

@@Kosmicd12 I was just playing the coin arcade of super Mario Bros and it had a infographic that said get a yellow mushroom and turn into super Mario. So the idea was the big Mario was being referred to as super mario. That was the first time I saw that

Those are called "invincibility frames". After you get hit, you get temporary invincibility, which lasts until your sprite stops blinking/flashing.
