31:38 - have you considered going for Grey Heaven instead of Rivendell and potentially gaining +1 point from Shire on top of that? The time was an enemy but it would be +1 move/die and much weaker army that could lead into -1 attack/die. Entertaining game all in all.
Brutal luck. I find that in most games that I lose as Shadow, my main regret is that I didn't go after the DEW line. No matter what happens, it's almost always possible to at least get WL and Dale for 3 points, and they have to spend dice to get the dwarves to war and retake Dale.
* Spoiler * I have never seen a Shelob 6 be an absolute nothingburger ... I mean Corruption was 3 at the end! If only you had known Vanali would roll so few moves lategame, you probably had time to get closer to 10VP. Win? I don't think so. -7 on attacks and -5 on 6s is usually lethal for SP if FP has avg luck. Congrats to Vanali on moving fwd! WP to you both!
@mcintma2 yeah part of me wonders if I'd targeted say, WLR instead of Lorien and not lost the WK then maybe I could've got over the line? Still v.unlikely but maaaaaybe doable?
@@GenericPieWOTR Losing WK was horrible, but still Feels like Vanali could have seriously messed with your VP if she had wanted. There was so much potential for shenanigans in Gondor if you made it close.
Maybe it felt worse at the time... I've definitely had worse luck from Java before - I think there was a narrow route to victory in this one (maybe 10% or so given Vanali's low movement in Mordor?) - but the combination of playing terribly and also some big Java swings made it feel really bad.
@@GenericPieWOTR One way to look at it the three strongholds you had under siege had 3, 1, and 3 hps left. Average dice could of easily lead to 7 more hits and taking them. You get them that is the 6 vp you needed.
My rule of thumb is that if you ever have a chance for Sméagol to kill the Balrog, you have to go for it, just for the sake of the narrative.

When the balrog is brought into play, you also should bring a Shadow unit into Moria with it. Might have helped a bit in Lorien
