About Jurm, I actually like the end despite the absence of the twist!!! The absence of twist was a twist itself! This is what happens in real life that when somethings happen specially in a high society family, true faces are unveiled and media takes advantage of the entire situation. But in reality, we don't see what is there in front of our eyes. Internal conflicts often play more serious roles in creating a havoc than external ones.
On top of everything, this drama called Jurm could create a conversation among the viewers.
    Hats off to this drama!!!

To me it was the aarushi murder case replaying infront of my eyes again. The social media was not so powerful then, but the media jignoism led to everyone building courtrooms inside their own house and delivering judgements. This is why two moments stood out for me....despite always being the cornered one, the mother saves the child and goes back to her routine suggesting she was not expecting a huge reward for what she did - that's selfless act of doing things for your family despite the feelings not being reciprocated; the second scene was the end piece where samya tells daniyal that they need to be together to fight this battle - pointing to the fact that even though aliya's murder is solved, the focus has now shifted from the actual crime to their lives and they have become the fodder.

When Aaliya sat in front of Asfer and Asfer expression with eye brow.. Sheheryar performance on that scene was mind blowing..The way Sajal and Sheheryar Body language and Eyes expressions were just award winning..😊😊
Somehow, i feel Aaliya silent call with Sehrish is about Salman. I think she requested Sehrish to hires him..
PS: I want Sajal and Sheheryar should do a separate project with good production value or a movie with Asim Raza both share mind blowing chemistry..

Kuch Ankahi effortlessly gives us the right sort of love triangle which dramas like Mujhe pyar hua tha falls short in giving. Its like when you see Shehryar with Sajal you guilty-ly root for them but then again Alia and Salmans interactions are so cute too! An audience finds themselves to be confused in terms of which side they’re actually on lol.
Jurm was brilliant! Wahaj you beauty! But the ending was beyond flat. And I think since the entire series was so well crafted, the audience craved and expected a twist or a last moment bang on ending from the story which it couldnt deliver and thats why the ending seemed more disappointing. But thoroughly enjoyed otherwise!

Casting new people, young actors playing closer to their age or exactly their age, new fresh pairs, yes the movement began with Fairy Tale. Next in line is Dananeer and Khushal in MGM. Best of luck :)
I hope this initiative is carried forward wherever necessary

We were so fixated with Jurm being an Agatha Christie type murder mystery, with of one the family members being the murderer, that the end looked a bit flat and underwhelming to us. The fact is that the drama was more than just a crime mystery, it was about how social media is used irresponsibly to make innocent people look guilty, leading to their harassment at times. It was also about how disparity leads to crime, how lavish lifestyle, extravagant weddings mentally, emotionally impact those who can barely provide food for their children. All this was entwined to make a most engaging crime story. Another interesting aspect was that instead of the most unlikely suspect turning out to be the murderer, the most unlikely helpful, most suspicious, self absorbed mother turned out to be the one solving the case, aiding the police. A well written, well directed, well acted drama; short, crisp, to the point.

    • @fae7y

But we were expecting a big plot twist or smth and left kind of underwhelmed, it wasn't a classic murder mystery which we expected it to be from the first two episodes: (

    • @pallabichandra1444
      @pallabichandra1444 ปีที่แล้ว +11

True the fact that we were expecting a plot twist and got none was in itself a surprise. The point of jurm was never to concoct a who dunnit, the crime was just a smokescreen to comment on other aspects. They even brought ageism and sexism to the forefront in addition to class difference and irresponsible journalism.

Most of our dramas now a days, want to deliver a message of sorts. Every drama needs social commentary, which is getting redundant. Only if Jurm was treated as a murder mystery, politics and more, we would have liked it way more.

  • @RPar-pg5ns
    @RPar-pg5ns ปีที่แล้ว +96

The reason they didn't give a twist in Jurm was because I believe the entire message behind the story was that not everything needs to be sensationalized. Sometimes, life is just as straightforward as we see it....starts with a bang and ends in a thud lol

But honestly in general I don't judge or care about the English pronunciation for those whom English is not really their first language.

Contrary to the general opinion about the last episode of Jurm, i actually liked it. I felt it was different from the usual execution of a thriller that we are attuned to. The truth was revealed in the first episode but we are so fixated on a certain format of thriller that we were expecting something else. It was that expectation probably which the writer used as the final twist.

Kuch ankahi is my favourite of the lot just because of how well directed it is and how enjoyable the ensemble cast is for me personally. Every plot point (though numerous) is thoroughly entertaining and thought provoking at the same time. They’ve highlighted essentially every type of woman in society from lower class (Meena), middle class (Aliya, Tania and Samiya), backwards soch (Shammo begum), progressive soch (Phuppo), upper class (Sehrish) and even evil/toxic (Shagufta). It’s rare and commendable how each persons story is slowly but surely weaving the story together.
Mohabbat gumshuda meri was also really enjoyable because it’s picture perfect casting and the direction is so so good. It’s surprising because Shahid Shafaat is usually subpar in my opinion, but so far, it’s really well paced and exiting to watch. Khushhal and Dananeer look stunning together but so does the elder sister and her fiancé. It’s not some trashy side track, because the actors not only look really good together, but their chemistry is amazing. It’s a teen romance with actual young actors and new talent with is commendable

For 13 episodes we kept waiting for Samiya’s rishta to break because in every episode the writer made us believe that Saif was a wrong choice, and the shaadi should not take place, but then he went ahead marrying her off and now showing that Saif is actually a good person. If the writer had to show her getting married, why 13 episodes were wasted on showing that shaadi was a bad idea? Makes no sense.

Jurm's climax was rather anti climatic for me. But other than that it was amazing. I really miss Mehreen Jabbars work, big fan since her earlier days dramas like Daam, Malaal and Vasl. The subtleties, the nuances and even the themes the lady explores are remarkable. Did anybody else get reminded of Adeel Hussain watching Wahaj in this play, as the former was a regular in Mehreens later work? And Wahaj, while the man has definitely arrived commercially with TB, the choices he's been making in the past couple of years, like Jurm here, a JBG, DNUTN, Ghissi Pitti mohabat, are indicative of the hard work and seriousness with which he's been pursuing his craft. He's only now getting the success, that he very much deserves.

Jurm - a very good series and script. I was very impressed with the first 3 episodes. Kept us audiences thinking and very nicely executed. However I agree with Hasán. Very underwhelming ending. And such an anti climax. The end concluded on a love story again. Ayla should have been in the last episode. I had so many predictions of who did this to Ayla but it turned out to be a very boring culprit.

To be honest I'm slightly disappointed with the reviews of Jurm's conclusion. Seems everyone simply thought this is meant to be some who-did-it crime mystery. As the whole story of what happened that lead to ayla's death was revealed in last episode, I realised we already knew that Hameed is lying and trying to twist the truth to scapegoat danyaal, but the screenplay was such that we as an audience viewed the events from the same lens as social media users who eat up drama and controversy. We looked for bad intentions in everyone without evidence, even those who appeared good, we were looking for and wanting an even bigger conspiracy to be revealed for our own entertainment, just like how social media makes a mountain-out-of-a-molehill just to look for drama even where there is none, and that scene of the vlogger character's speech to her online audience in last episode after Samia confronting her about the impact on her personal life due to that vlogger stoking online conspiracies about Ayla's death was a clear indication of what the aim of the show was.

I recommended Jurm to everyone..this is on par with any Netflix show. The ending was subtle, balanced and open-ended. And how beautifully the resolution was scripted and acted out between the mother in law and Wahaj. I mostly start with the default in a whodunnit that it’s the butler, here it’s a desi version i.e. the driver. Samia’s character was also lovely and well written. Wahaj’s mom was not the predictable fluffy-headed trophy wife either.

A major point of Jurm was to show how media makes big deals out of information, and we are inclined to follow media rather than our own mind. people treated this show as a proper crime thriller and expected to have a shocking ending, IMO it was a good ending I think bcos it went exactly how the audience didnt expected it. hope more story similar to these are encouraged and appreciated for their true nature

Kuch ankahi: In one of the previous episodes, Samiya's mother says something like shaadi se pehley tou aagha ji k bhi affairs thay, shadi k baad mard theek ho jatey hain tou Saif bhi theek ho jae ga. I think her reaction to the jhumka can be used later by one of her daughters to convince her that these things can lead to life long insecurity and trust issues in a relationship.
Jurm: I love thrillers and like everyone else I was also expecting a twist at the very end but I felt as if the viewers of the series we were also part of the same audience that the journalist had in the series. Everyone was looking for some hidden truth, something else other than what was clearly in front of us. The series reminded us that some times the things are just as plain and simple as they appear.

I just love wahaj's pronunciation of the word "Interest" and the accent shows his true root. As a 2nd language, it is very natural to talk in our own accent. Relating smartness with somebody's accent was so small minded of Aamna. I mean she will never question michele morrone and his movie director to correct his italian accent right? Statement like hers make me sad that people in our continent are still sub consciously doing british gulami.

Sorry but I think as a serious actor one should be skilled in language, accent and pronunciation. Michele morrone hardly qualifies as an actor. Look at someone like leonardo di caprio for example who changes his accent so brilliantly for different roles.

Jurm was like to show how blame comes on people when murder is committed and even when the person is proved innocent people would always think that they have just used the money to be out of it. Society always thinks they are murderers. And how because of social media just because of some clues spreading people start think that he/she is a murderer.

I thought the mother in law orchestrated the whole drama of the drivers taking the blame. She paid his wife and the wife made him take the blame.
Also I think if Geo played jurm on Sunday 8pm slot and the show played for 4 weeks instead of 2, the drama would have been bigger in terms of audience and views. Still loved it throughout.

Aliya and Azfar had some sizzling chemistry and Aliya and Salman had some peaceful but sizzling chemistry.. loving both tracks.. the scene where Sajal sees Azfar walking in looking all dashing was really cute... Jurm was a bit of a disappointment, Love Mehreen Jabbar but the story was feeling like they're all acting somehow i don't know and the ending was definetly a let down.

      Ok… so here’s the deal…..
Keep in mind that Samia, Daniyal and his mom are all partners in getting Alia murdered.
Now go back and watch all the episodes over again and you’ll know it it all comes together. Watch every word spoken every body language reaction.
It’s s very intense and tight work put together.
Alia, driver and his hit men are just pawns!! Used and thrown away.
Samia had invested 12 years of her life working for this family and she is evil, will not let go of a rich millionaires son who loves her like a fool. Son’s mother is aware of the situation helps her son in hiring the killer. The father on the other hand, may seem rude but is not a mean person who loves his son and doesn’t want to loose him. The whole plot is to break him down so much by driving his son to an almost near death experience that he becomes for accepting of Samia. That’s the plot!!
And Ms Samia wins in the end!!
That’s why the title song lyrics “ who is the real culprit” can anyone tell!!
      Well crafted drama!!

This review was spot on! You guys talked about everything I was literally thinking.
Tere Ishq Ke Naam: I did not watch this drama; neither the plot seemed interesting nor the cast. You review was hilarious though!
Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri: This drama gives such an old romance feel because the screen looks fresh (being shot in Islamabad gives it a beautiful vibe) and the chemistry between Dananeer and Khushhal is cracking. Both natural performers shine through in their scenes together. Yes, I agree the plot is choppy and I hope there is more clarity in the coming episodes but I thoroughly enjoy this drama!❤🙌
Bandish 2: Totally agree with Aamna- the makers have the responsibility of delivering what they promised which was horror and the relationships trope is regressive and the audience is fed up with this now.
Kuch Ankahi: This drama is very soothing and flows smoothly (no tension, no bakwas happening😆). I love the way scenes have been shot with my favorite being Aaliya and Agha Jaan's dinner scene. My god, what a phenomenal actress Sajal Aly is! Sajal and Shehryar look amazing together and hopefully Salman is given more screen time so we can see more of Aaliya and Salman. Whenever Shagufta appears, she has this eerie and weird aura to her character which makes you feel so uneasy.
Jurm: SAME!! I was expecting a plot twist in the last 2 minutes of the episode because otherwise it was too flat. As people say "khoda pahar nikla chooha"🤔. If I were to end Jurm, it would be that Samiya (in the last scene) goes into a flashback of it being her car which interrupted the kidnapping scene. I wish there was something which made me gasp in the last episode as the first 3 episodes were flawless and riveting!
Thank you for uploading the review today. I was waiting for it since Monday LOL!

Jurm: I think basic ending was the part of plot and message for us as we create hype on social media of basic things. We dip into people's personal life and make points of irrelevant things.
End can get better if Danyal were a bit happy with Ayla's death because now he could get the love of his life.

Great to see Aamna back!!!! SH is incomplete if anyone of you are absent.
About Kuch Ankahi, I have a request for you to please touch upon this topic and give opinions. While I do enjoy samia and saif's track, I wonder is such a track progressive? I understand not all tracks in a drama have to be progressive or preachy, which is why I am not questioning the incorporation of this track in the storyline, I am simply wondering is the character of Samia (who is patient, caring and sensible) progressive for you?

Unfortunately, very few audiences will understand jurm. With all the debate about we thought this and that, mehreen proves the point that we become judgemental with even no information and instead of fighting for justice, we judge the families who lose their loved ones. Jurm is beautiful!

    • @shahyasir7930
      @shahyasir7930 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Really appreciate it. The screenplay was an experimental effort and supposed to be meta in a sense and break the fourth wall where the audience plays a part in the message of the play. We see it all too often to this day (Adnan Syed, Amanda Knox, Parents of Madeleine Mccaine. This discussion and debate is very helpful.

Jurm: the first three episodes were mindblowing and gripping and made a good build up but the climax was quite off or I better say there's no climax kinda thing. It was a crime thriller so I was expecting a bang in the climax, It was obvious that daniyal was not the culprit...I thought that Ayla's father might be the one behind her murder because there was a reference of her father in the first episode. But apart from the major reveal (which was not really major) I thought jurm was great. With great direction by MJ and great performances it kept us hooked. A good try but end could've been better.
