I have a black/bronze/gold guest bedroom - Which needs some new colour, I believe I just found it. I appreciate all types of texture in painting, and this technique is Amazing! Reminds me of the little kits from years ago, where you would apply three different colours to create patina looks, this is so much richer & deep. WOW! Yoours work is the best of all I have seen! I just started watching these type of videos. I was wanting to do a peacock or coastal theme in living, dinning and family room. I couldnt find distressed to buy for a dinning set for coastal so thats why I was watching these to learn , but now after seeing this I think I wll do peacock and try to make it look like this! I can imagive the gold peacock decor pieces on my sideboard with the gold! OMG! It will be beautiful. I felt I had to buy a formal dinning set with peacock or keep my cherry wood but this looks formal and classy with the gold accent and the colors are perfect! I do feel you may have went through a lot more steps than needed though. Why couldnt you just use the base paint and just do the patina around the edges. Like the top drawers were solid patina and the bottoms werent but yet looks the same. Seems you could have skipped the petinia all ttogether and used the brown and the black wax and got the same effect. . Can you buy dixie belle at craft stores like Michaels? I love that color Mermaid Tail with the patina effect, once again your the bob ross of furniture. I am so glad you are working with Dixie Bell products they are such great quality and the colors are amazing.
Your piece is beautiful! I love the steam punk effect the metal and rust gives. I also do a rust like patina on painted furniture with different minwax stains that you would normally use on raw wood. It turns out really cool and adds an interesting boho vibe.
