YIPPEEEEE, so happy you like our products...we LOVE watching you! We can send you whatever your heart desires! You are really a great teacher, this video is so informative and helpful. We will encourage our followers to come and watch more too. Thank you Christina!! XOXO
Could the spray wax be used over other chalk/clay paints? Does it need to be re applied after a few months like other waxes? Is the paint water based? Could I use water to make a washed look?
Hello Mariel! Our Easy Peasy Spray Wax is a simple water-based wax, and it does need to be reapplied every 6 months. It has not been tested on other brands of chalk/clay paints but we guarantee it works with our paint! Our chalk mineral paint is also water based and you can dilute it to give your pieces a washed finish.
Yay Christina! Should definitely jump on the DB bandwagon! All their products are great and very easy to work with. Especially for beginners. The things that more advanced painters are producing are simply stunning! Another great video!
I switched from AS to Dixie Belle. I love their paint the best...and. I have used many others. I use a hairdresser spray mister which makes the paint spread even better and farther. Glad you were impressed. :)
I just finished my kitchen set painted with Dixie Belle paint and finished with Gator Hide. I don’t have a lot of experience, but I really liked it. I did do 2 coats with a lighter color but I also wanted complete coverage. It looked like you wanted more of your base to show through on your dresser. Came out great!
Another great video! I purchased a mister bottle from Dixie Belle paint and just love the fine mist it has for use on paint projects..totally fabulous! I would love to see future updates on how these products hold up over time. Thanks.
~I LOVE Dixie Belle Paint and waxes!!!! You can make paint application easier (if you find the paint rather thick) by putting a little paint on your brush and then lightly spraying the brush with a spritz of water! Paint just glides on!!!! My first project came out looking like a professional did it!!! My friends and family are so impressed!!!!!
I just started using Dixie Belle and I’ve really enjoyed it! I had been using Maison Blanche. The first hung I liked is that it’s in jars instead of cans! Much easier to pour! lol
Loved this review, especially the review of the wax. I just used Dixie belle for the first time. This was the 3rd brand of chalk paint I have tried as I am new to this chalk painting obsession. I found Dixie Belle to have a pretty thick consistency. Once I added a tiny bit of water I found it to be perfect and surprisingly fell in love with this brand.
The dresser turned out so nice! I’m watching your tutorials and others right now before I get ready to chalk paint my daughter’s dresser and nightstand. I hope they turn out nice!
I love the way your dresser turned out! It looks so appropriate for a boy, especially how you styled it with the wooden wall art of that Bible verse. Such wonderful seeds to sow in our children. 🥰 Howdy 🤠 from Texas! 😉
I had a dresser like this and gave it to a friend..and she moved and asked did I want it back..!!!!! OMG wish I had said yes..I could have redone and given to someone!! Your work is amazing..thank you for sharing with us and teaching us what you have learned!! May your blessings overtake you!!!!!!
Hey Christina! So great to see your review on DBP products. Having used Dixie Belle Paint exclusively on my paint projects; I found that water is the key. Start with a damp brush and if you continue to dampen your brush through the painting project, you will use much less paint. I use a spray bottle and just give each side a spritz when I feel the paint slightly pulling then I spritz again. You may have had close to 1/2 a jar of paint left using this technique. It also makes brush strokes smoother. With DBP being water based, you can add water to the paint to use as a wash, stain, or even as you use a glaze. If you leave the lid off and it gets too thick, add water. If you get it too thin, leave the lid off until it thickens. 99% of the products are water based and low VOC! Glad you liked DBP.
Your son's dresser turned out beautiful. We have a hutch in our living room I would like to chalk paint I don't know what color yet. Been fun watching you thank you
The dresser turned out magnificent. The color is great. I’ve redone a dresser for my daughter with Annie Sloan chalk paint after watching you. It came out really nice. I have a mirror with an antique gold border. I want to repaint it. Can you mix metallic paint and chalk paint together? I want an antique rose gold look. What would you suggest?
Your videos are well done and very informative. I've done lots of pieces, but I've only used Annie Sloan paint and waxes. Thanks for the intro to Dixie Belle-- I had never heard of it. I am anxious to try the spray wax. Your affiliate link for the wax did not work when I just tried it. Best to you, and thanks! I'm going to try to duplicate your General Finishes Java Gel (no wipe off) finish on an old maple dresser top tomorrow. Thanks for the helpful info!
Christina, I have watched a lot of videos on chalk AND milk painting. I like yours best; you keep it simple and down to earth. I would like to ask your opinion. I have a whole bedroom set (5 pieces), it is solid cherry and about 45 years old and in pretty good condition. I am considering painting it; I am so weary of it! Do you think 1) it will be too-o-o much 2) which will be better-chalk or milk 3) which will hold up better? If you could help me I would appreciate it so much.
Yes, you can do it. Start with the piece that is the least important to you or is least seen. I would chalk paint. Cherry can bleed sometimes, so put a damp paper towel on it for 30 min and see if any of the stains lifts. If it does seal it with Zinsser Shellac before you paint.
I absolutely love your videos! I've been binge watching! I'm new to chalk paint & have only done 2 small pieces. I was wondering, you don't have to strip & sand an old dresser to paint it? I have a mid Century modern bedroom set & I would love to lighten it up with more of a grayish weathered look. What do you recommend? Thank you for all the videos & taking your time to do them. I would give you a 5 thumbs up if I could.
Thanks Christina for sharing your live first time use of DB Paint. I'm new to the flipping furniture world and I LOVE it. I enjoy your teaching style and love watching your videos. I'm a fairly new subscriber and thrilled I came across your channel. Can't wait to try DB Paint & spray wax. I will definitely to use your affiliate link. Another great video. :)
Indeed it is! I just wish I stumbled upon it a long time ago, but better late than never. I'm actually flipping a dresser for a friend of mine. She's and interior designer and will be featured in Walter Magazine. I'm either crazy or brave. I'm thinking crazy because I am definitely a beginner. I'm getting ready to mix Annie Sloan's clear and brown wax to give the piece a very light aged look, and yes, I'm very nervous. LOL
Christina, I am curious to see if you have continued to use the spray wax? It seemed to have to blotchy look of traditional waxes. Also, I watched your more recent video where you refinished this piece again, how did the Dixie Belle products hold up?
I have only used it once, it didn't hold up well on this particular piece. But it might have been the color or the fact that it was in a 3 year old's room. I just ordered some more, so I will be trying it again because everyone I know who uses it swears by it.
I have mostly switched to all Dixie Belle from Annie Sloan. I love Annie Sloan but I love that Dixie Belle is a one stop shop and is a little more affordable than Annie Sloan!
Hi Christina, Absolutely love your videos and that dresser turned out great. I think I will consider Dixie in the future. If you were to have done two coats of the color, would you have sanded in between or just applied paint on top of first coat?
😬 I’ll tell you this. I’ll be using Dixie Belle again. I’ve been using ASCP for years so I don’t think I can make a fair comparison yet! Dixie Belle is slightly more affordable and is really great quality. I’d really recommend either.
That is hard! DP has more colorful options if you are going for that. You can’t go wrong with either of those. I have both in my home on personal pieces. Jolie’s clear wax and their brushes are some of my favs.
I love Sweet Pickins liquid wax but spray wax seems better again. Im sure if you put a few coats of it on it would be really durable. Just have to see if I can get it in Australia. Dresser turned out great . Had to laugh at your drill face x
Your videos are so helpful! Have you tried General Finishes Water-Based Topcoat High-Performance Flat on the Dixie Belle chalk paint, and did it yellow? I'm using the Buttercream color you recommended in another video, so it is a light color. Thank you for your help!
I haven't yet, but Dixie Belle has a topcoat made specifically for their paint. I haven't tried it yet, but I think that would be safe to use since they designed them to work together.
I've been having a hard time visualizing how much surface area chalk paint will cover, but if 6 oz is enough to cover a dresser nearly as tall as you, then a whole quart should be enough for my loft beds!
The Annie Sloan was is definitely s thicker finish, but I think you could build that up with the spray wax with several coats. The spray wax is even more matte than AS wax. Which I personally love!
Do you always use a natural bristle brush? Does that help with paint lines? I have a synthetic Purdy brush. Maybe I need to use the natural? What is your opinion?
I prefer natural bristles for chalk paint, but that is just preference. I know Annie Sloan makes a synthetic brush for a smoother finish so your brush might be worth a try.
I love Menard’s. They definitely have the most affordable selection, but they are regional. I don’t live near one anymore. 😢 I mostly get my hardware from Amazon now.
The spray wax is the most durable finish I’ve worked with. I like water based topcoats the best for table and desk tops. This is one of my favs amzn.to/2EO9poZ
No. I haven’t heard of it. It’s so crazy how many paint options there are now! When I started there was really only Annie Sloan and CeCe Cawldwell and you couldn’t get them online. I would drive 45 minutes just to get my paint!
Yes it’s crazy!!! So many options. They have a Facebook page and website and I think they upload videos on here, if you’d like to look at it, but it’s not chalk paint. I just want to see a review from someone I trust before jumping into it. I just found them on Pinterest.
I hated this wax. It left the dark blue color i painted on my piece look whitish and chalky and did not leave a rich buttery finish. I also found the spray tedious and did not spray evenly. I tried two different bottles and both did not preform well. Finally when the bottle is low of product it didn’t spray at all. I had high hopes for this but in my opinion it’s nowhere close to any other kind of top coat - wax or otherwise.
Would you use these products to paint wooden cabinets under the sink or for that matter kitchen cabinets? .i am planning on to do so..as it seems the easiest product (paint and spray wax ) ?
I don't think you're using the wrong bit, more so that you're using the wrong type of drill. Looks like you're using a impact driver, used for driving screws not really for drilling holes.

Can you use the wax with another kind of paint restuliom paint
Very disappointing you guys don't ship to Canada. I wanted to try some colors.
Dixie belle is the best and most affordable paint. Is a huge line I haven't try all the line yet. Great job with the dresser
I am a complete beginner and I am so grateful for your videos. I am learning so much!
Same, but Christina's video's are so helpful!
Yay Christina! Should definitely jump on the DB bandwagon! All their products are great and very easy to work with. Especially for beginners. The things that more advanced painters are producing are simply stunning! Another great video!
I just bought some of this paint today and am so excited to start my project. Thank you so much for all of the great videos you provide!
I switched from AS to Dixie Belle. I love their paint the best...and. I have used many others. I use a hairdresser spray mister which makes the paint spread even better and farther. Glad you were impressed. :)
I do that, too!
Isn’t that the best trick ever???? Just a spritz of water and the paint goes on like butter!!!! My first project got rave reviews!!!!♥️

I ordered 2 shades of white Dixie Bell and the spray wax. I can’t wait to start painting! Thank you.
Just curious if you used my link? I'm trying to figure out the tracking.
Yes. I used your link to Dixie Bell! Let me know if you were credited.

Great tip Cathy about wetting the brush throughout the project. I do that myself and it makes working with the paint so much easier.

Beautiful - I like the sign above the dresser as well 😊
Interested in antiquing a piece that has been sanded down and would not have a underneath color for distressing. Like the Dixie Belle colors.
definitely will be using this for my next project
Great job. I will be using this for the first time. Tyfs. New subscriber.

Do you have to apply a wax after you apply Dixie Belle chalk pain?
Hi Christina,
Absolutely love your videos and that dresser turned out great. I think I will consider Dixie in the future. If you were to have done two coats of the color, would you have sanded in between or just applied paint on top of first coat?

The Dresser turned out really nice and it look so easy. Which do you like better Annie Sloan or Dixie Belle?

A quart should cover your loft bed. I recently two coats on some shiplap bunk beds. I used the 32oz Dixie Belle can and still had a bit left over.
@@ChristinaMuscari I found that video shortly after I made this comment. It was super helpful!
Great Job!
keep up the great work for real much respect and love from your boy buddha out of Waco Texas W.M.H
Nice work! Thank you. 💋
Christina would the Dixie Belle paint work on plastic that supposed to look like wood?
It should. Just test a spot to see if it sticks.
Can you tell us the difference between using the spray wax versus the Annie Sloan wax? Is there a difference in the look?
The Annie Sloan was is definitely s thicker finish, but I think you could build that up with the spray wax with several coats. The spray wax is even more matte than AS wax. Which I personally love!

I love it.

Not yet!
Love the color! Masculinity ✅Xoxo
Where did you purchase the guide for your hardware placement?
They have them at all the big box stores and on Amazon too.
How much paint did you use for the whole dresser ? Did you finish the 8oz.?
I talk about this in the video. I did one coat and used about 3/4 of the 8oz. can.
Do you recommend this spray wax for a desk or kitchen table?
The spray wax is the most durable finish I’ve worked with. I like water based topcoats the best for table and desk tops. This is one of my favs amzn.to/2EO9poZ
