News from Insta360: Announcing Insta360's Free Lens Repair for Ace / Ace Pro Hi all, as you may know, Insta360 just launched the brand-new action cameras Ace and Ace Pro, designed with pre-installed Lens Guards to prevent dust, moisture, and other substances from entering the lens and provide better protection for the lens. With the way these are designed, they aren't replaceable. The good news is that Insta360 is offering free maintenance for damaged Lens Guards within the first year of purchase for users. You only have to cover shipping. If you do find your lens gets damaged or scratched, get in touch and we'll organize a replacement free of charge. Thanks, and we hope you enjoy using Ace! The team at Insta360
I watched at least 5 TH-camrs on this camera and you are the only one that actually tested how dark each camera could go. Hats off to you for testing the limits.
Couldn't agree more and I watched a whole lot more than 5. The comparisons here are so well done and I love the "circle of wait" in the top left corner of each segment to let you know how much time is left in each clip. The garage and tree clips were especially enlightening. What I don't understand across TH-cam is that this seems to be one of the few product launches where the launched product is almost exclusively compared against the GoPro. We all know that is no contest. The Action 4, as was done here, is a much better comparison and those that might add the Pocket 3 would be very helpful. Ultimately, thanks for taking the time to do this great comparison.
@@RocketreclinerThe reason you see plenty of GoPro comparisons is because many reviewers own GoPros that they received for free from GoPro or bought themselves. The reason you don’t see many DJI Action 4 comparisons is because it is not a big selling action camera. The only reviewers that have a DJI action would have probably received a FREE one from DJI and DJI would frown upon a reviewer showing a superior product, and would never send them another FREE DJI product. For me, I’m not sponsored by anyone so for my line of work I buy all cameras with my own money and can compare them as I like. Please note, in this case I was provided the insta360 Ace Pro, but my review is my review and no one asked me to compare action cameras. I just did the comparisons because the low light footage on the Ace Pro was mind blowing!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I understand, but it isn't what you typically see with product launches. Normally, reviewers test the new product against all kinds of competitors. This time it is almost exclusively GoPro, which we already know isn't a contest at all. And I'm not sure I follow the logic of reviewers receiving these different products for free. There are tons of comparisons online where people receive these products for free and plenty that don't. So, why is it so one-sided with this specific product launch? Who knows. It is all probably a moot point anyway since I'm sure eventually people will start to compare more. Ultimately, what I'm excited to see is good comparison footage between the Ace Pro and DJI Pocket 3. These both highlight the ability to record in low light, but do so in very different ways. It should be interesting. :)
Did you not have the action 4 in night mode ? It’s almost identical to the Ace Pro aside from the Ace having HDR and performs better with highlights. Go Pro 12 is the worst performer in low light of the 3 by a lot.
Yup, DJI Action 4 was at its best for the night shots which explains why it didn’t look as bad as the GoPro. If you believe the Action 4 can shoot low light as well as the Ace Pro, then you are in for a big reality surprise.
Get yourself the Ace Pro, then compare it all day long. There is no way you won’t be impressed. This is a new product so it is normal that GoPro and DJI owners will be skeptical no matter how many tests I or a hundred other reviewers run.
The only Big downside to this action camera is the fact that you can't remove the lens protector if you smashed it good. You can switch the lens protector on GoPro and DJI without having to change the whole camera. I think for this reason I'll wait for their next version! But thanks Captain Steve for this amazing in-depth video! Merci beaucoup!
I’m not sure you know this or not, but there is a lens cover over the LEICA lens. The cover is non-removable. It would be rare to damage an action camera lens cover, unless it was slide along pavement (need something to scratch into the lens cover). You’d nrately damage it flying FPV drones (I’ve been flying FPV for years and have never damaged the lens cover on an external camera), in addition all FPV drone cameras do not have a removable lens and I have never damaged one of those in a crash. My guess is that anyone who buys this camera will just ensure that don’t use it for something that could scratch the lens cover (just like we do with any new camera or cell phone we buy).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Yeah I was thinking that if someone uses this camera to be hanging on the side of a car and the suction cups fails, then it would be a disaster haha
Your analysis of these action cameras is excellent. Could you ask me a question: is it overheating these three cameras when you film in 4K? And which heats up more and which doesn't heat up?
It is not HOT in my area so no camera overheats. However I have owned the DJI Action 4 since the late summer and it never overheated. I have owned the GoPro Hero 12 since September and on a very hot day when sun is shining on the camera, it has overheated and turned off.
Thanks for the great video. How about battery life and overheating issues? Can we use ace pro as webcam? Can this camera keeps the horizon balanced automatically?
Horizon fix is shown n video (watch when I go through the 4 FOV modes). Battery life is shown in video… 100 minutes. It never overheated in any of my tests, however I don’t exactly live in Florida.
I have the 12 hero gopro and I always thought that it would have been great if the 12 had features as "pause" while recording. I just found out that this is possible on the insta 360 ace. Man, I want this ace now.
Thanks for the review. I have a question - with the GoPro, you can use the app to pull a high res still image out of video, you can move through frame by frame to grab what you want which I think is awesome. Does the Insta Ace Pro have a similar feature?
Great to see some innovative stuff, I really like the gesture control and highlights feature. The rest is not convincing enough to switch from my Action 4!
If most of your footage is in good light, I could definitely see why you might say this. All these action cams look great in good light to my eyes. However, low light is a different story, but again, if you aren't filming in low light then it doesn't matter nearly as much.
Excellent review! I'm curious how the Ace Pro stacks up against the One RS 4K lens. Have both the Hero 12 and DJI 4 surpassed the One RS and now the Ace Pro surpasses them?
I'd say yes, simplly because the ACE PRO has an 8K sensor for its size, whereas the ONE RS 4K has the optional one inch sensor, but it is not 8K but rather 5K, which means it is limited in what it can achieve, but what it does achieve is very good.
Hi Steve you did it again , I notice the Ace pro 8k has 1650 battery power and the Ace 6k has 1700 battery power ,which one do you recommend some one to buy thanks
There should be no such thing as an ACE PRO 8K or 6K, but rather only a 4K ACE PRO and a BASIC ACE (the basic ACE does not have the LEICA features/sensor).
Hi, great review. How long can you leave the camera on pause for? For example could I film a clip at an airport before take off, pause the camera, and then start another recording a few hours later once I have arrived at the destination? Or would the camera shut itself off after no activity? Thanks
I have seen many of these videos. Probably about 30 or so regarding the differences, I now know for certain that the Insta360 ACE PRO is the one I need to get. I'm a wood carver looking for something simple and to the point, but also to film out door adventures and other content subject matter. You have essentially confirmed what better than 2/3rd the video's have confirmed. The Insta360 ACE Pro is the way to go.
Steve great review on the new Insta360 Ace pro. It's the action camera to buy if you don't own an action camera. My only critic is the remote control is really expensive for a remote control. I realize it has tons of feature, but if you want to start and stop a video, it pretty expensive. You can hook up your Apple watch, so maybe a simple app to control the Insta 360 with simple command, from your apple watch. Insta360 engineers are you listening, you can charge a nominal fee for the app. Just saying.....
I believe the GPS watch remote is $100 US if you buy the bundle (camera, remote and other items). It is one of the bundles shown when you click on the link.
I just wonder, have you tried increasing the ISO setting to 12800 on action 4? The lowlight image on action 4 looks pretty good on my computer with 12800 ISO, despite some noise. It's still acceptable considering the brightness. Also, I'm a bit confused now. The performance and brightness of action 4 in some parts is even worse than GoPro, but the previous footage showed the complete opposite - the differences between DJI and Insta360 were less noticeable. Both of them showed good lowlight performance in terms of brightness, noise, and details. Action 4 also held up very well against the Insta360, which is surprising to me considering there's no fancy chip in action 4.
The DJI action 4 is a good budget action camera. I’ve used it since it launched and my only complaint with it is that if I wear a red or orange shirt on a sunny day and film myself, I then get NOISE showing up in the shirt that kills the video. This is due to how DJI processes small sensor camera images.
Just bought the action 4 days ago and I am having buyer’s remorse now hhha. I actually want the insta 360 ace pro now because I usually shoot in low light
What about the Ace vs the Ace Pro? Would it blow the other two out of water too? I am looking for a camera to film myself while doing standup comedy. The low light performance does appeal to me so hoping the cheaper Ace will do reasonably well. Thoughts?
All cameras were in whatever low light mode they offer for the low light scenes. As well for the sun, any camera that had HDR video, it was turned on. And finally for filming the Action 4 and Ace Pro were in 4K and the GoPro was in 5K.
No 10 bit. The companie’s official word is that in their tests users never understand what 10 bit is or use it correctly because it involves filming in a flat setting and then editing the result in expensive software. There tests showed action cameras are for “point and shoot” people. I can tell you that I tried the 10 bit on the GoPro Hero 12 and it is useless unless the image was shot in really good lighting. Even then the results are minimal and not worth the time & effort in editing. Action cameras and cell phones are all just “point and shoot”, no matter what the marketing will have you believe.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I do my videos with gopro in 10 bit HDR. 10 bit recording only makes a real difference when mastering in HDR for HDR displays, but for that it's absolutely crucial, and the difference is night and day. I bought Gopro 11 for this reason alone, and I would have upgraded to Insta360 ACE PRO now if it supported 10 bit recording. Thank you for great video and for the information on 10 bit support!
Just to let you how things turned out, the recording of the football game on Friday night came out pretty good. It is a well lighted field and I followed them back and forth along the sidelines the whole game. I recorded it on pure video at 30 fps and x2 magnification. The video almost appears to be shot during daylight. It is clear, unlike the videos shot with our cellphones, they are dark and gritty. For a nonprofessional just an everyday father and grandfather doing family videos I am pleased. The only issue I have found is that my horizon is not always level. Unfortunately in this mode the ace pro does not offer horizon steady. So now I am thinking about if I can find a compact gimbal that will work with the ace pro just to keep the horizon level. Well I guess it’s off to the internet to see what I can find. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. Keep flying!
Nice review! How do you think the insta 360 will work on the outside of an aircraft with that flip screen? I’m worried the wind will grab the display and rip it off. My aircraft cruises at 220km/hr.
Why would anyone flip up the screen and place it on a plane, drone, helicopter, car, boat??? Before you take off return the screen to the locked position.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 can you choose variable video bitrate? GoPro cameras are lacking this feature. They all record with constant bitrate and take a lot of space on SD card. GoPro 8 firmware 2.51 has an option to select H.265 encoder and with resolution 1080p @ 30 or 24 fps it records with 30 Mbps instead of regular 60 Mbps but still it is constant bitrate and wastes a lot of space.
Oh… that only applies if you film in LOG profile with a high bit rate. Action cameras and drone consumer cameras are next to impossible to color correctly unless the exposure was bang on during filming.
in the Insta360 ACE PRO, the user can remove the batteries when they are energye empy ?where to buy them ? are go pro accesories like a chest strap mount compatible ??? Anybody knows? thank you. and in the meanwhile for saving some money, is a the luosi action camera good for the money ?
The batteries last for 1.5 hours. You can easily remove and replace a battery in seconds. All accessories for the camera are sold on the insta360 store and AMAZON.
Some of those 'special effects' (AI) kinda look cool, but are very gimmicky imo and not something you'll be using much after you've tried them a couple of times. Other than that, I'm pretty impressed with the IQ of the Ace Pro; Instra360 is showing both Dji and Gopro how it's really done right! :-)
Thanks for the review. Can U tell us about the bluetooth connection for external microphone? For example if I want to use it on a helmet on a motorcycle and put inside a helmet a bluetooth microphone. Can it do it with any bluetooth mic? And what is the quality?
Great video 👌 What if I want to livestream with the Insta360? Hdmi output? Livestream is; Connect via capture card hdmi, with external mic and charge input?
GoPro had hdmi out until version 8. Anyway, i hope Insta 360 ace pro will have some kind of good solution for streaming, as it looks to be a very good camera
Hi, I just received my Ace Pro I bought for the purpose of night video. I want to use it for my grandson’s football game tonight. It is a well lighted field. Can you tell me what setting you used other then the pruevideo setting?
HCC !!! (Holey Crap Captain!!!) where do you find the time do such a comprehensive review!; no brainer as they say regards the overall performance of the Insta; are you going to demonstrate on a Drone / RC Plane / Inspire 2 (sorry, couldn't help that !!)
Thanks for the GREAT review. I have ONE major question that never gets covered. And a few smaller questions. I'd be using this as a helmet cam on my motorcycle. I also have a helmet mic. Does the camera support an external mic thru the USB C? Also, is the remote waterproof? If it has a mount for a motorcycle I'm hoping yes. Third, I assume the mic input is NOT waterproof. I'd be using this outside in all weather conditions. Very interesting product.
I don't have all the answers, but here goes: 1. It seems to support external audio via a mic adaptor only vice just USB C. I say this because I do not see a EXTERNAL MIC AUDIO option in the settings. 2. The remote appears (by looking at it) to be waterproof (for rain/snow), shockproof, but I don't have the exact specs. 3. Correct, I don't believe the external mic unit would be waterproof. Perhaps only water resistant for a rain day.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you SO much for the reply. I 'm going to contact Insta and ask for clarification on the external mic. Its really important to my use.
Excellent excellent video, you helped me make my mind up with whether to buy this one or the GoPro or the X3. This is the one for me. I am wondering if the Gimbal might be better for me than the stick though. Your video is the only one that truly hit on features that I was not aware of. I just bought myself and my wife a Armma Fireteam 6 RC cars and now I know how to begin making fun videos.
Great video, I’ve viewed it twice. Did you try to use your Apple Watch to operate it similar to the remote? On a side note, I’ve got to hand it to you; you maintain your civility pretty well when responding to some of the negative comments when I’m sure a bleep would be needed in-person while you’re typing it.
The camera is pretty darn good Steve, I was very impressed with it, I must say, I was surprised to hear you calling the foliage, foilage.😂😅 You reminded me of Marge Simpson from many years ago.
How can I not getting this Ace Pro! I always been a big big GoPro fan, use it for all my videos. But I’m definitely getting a Ace Pro this time! And it is not much expensive than GoPro I think 😂Anyone else thinking there's just too much here to love? Ditching gopro hard this time lol
Great comparison. During the audio test when you were standing in front of a tree, i noticed that the video quality of your face is sharper in go pro and dji. The ace pro is softer (out of focus?) but the background is sharper. I even zoomed in on your face on all 3 tests just to make sure. I have the insta360 x3 and it does the same. Is it because its an action camera and its purpose is to shoot everything in focus except objects that are too near its lens? But overall, especially in low light, the ace pro is better that the two.
Ace Pro minimum focus distance is 20cm from what I have noted on YT. That's pretty close for a fixed focus camera. Fine for vlogging. It would be interesting to see how a face fills the screen at, say, 25cm, on all of the view angle settings. IMO Insta have raised the bar with this one and all of the other makers are going to have to go back to the drawing board!
Curious to see how it compares to DJI Pocket 3 at night but from what I’ve seen it’s tempting to either sell my GoPro 10 or Action 4 or maybe both, could it replace the Pocket 3 also for night video? Oh! And is its z-axis stabilization good for when walking, or do you still need external stabilization for that as with the other cameras.
All footage in this review, when you saw movement, was me walking. All action cameras handling walking well, as long as you keep the camera pointed in the same direction. If you fling it around while walking its gonna look a mess.
Yes. For the entire review, I had mine set to MEDIUM. You can also set it to LOW which would work for you, or HIGH if you really wanted the edges of objects to stick out.
I think they missed an opportunity to have a removable display screen. Nice it flips forward, but that's extra weight to encase the PCB and lcd. So go a step further and make it removable, especially if there is a wearable remote interface. Fpv was not in mind. How is durability compared to the other cameras? I'm not suggesting you chuck it down your steps to find out
It does well in FPV. Durability? I don’t believe it would handle a hard crash as well as a GoPro. I have crashed all 3 cameras. In the review of all 3 cameras strapped to my Level… we’ll I dropped it on pavement from shoulder height (unintentionally) and all cameras survived.
Is it possible to add an ND filter to the Insta360 Ace Pro? If not, that will be a deal breaker for many potential buyers. Can the lens cover be replaced?
Excellent review. It has been a while since I watched one of your videos. Nice addition with the facial hair. Where does the GPS remote receive its data from? Meaning the GPS coordinates.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks for your reply. I figured that was the case. Now I need to see if I can bluetooth the Insta360 GPS device to my Sony camera to pick up GPS coordinates for photo location. I know I can do that with my iPhone but when traveling internationally, Verizon charges $10.00 per day for travel pass.
I just got the hero 12 and now I wish I seen your vid first lol. can you bluetooth the 260 like the gopro to other mics like I can with my 12 to my sena
Could you clarify us wich configuration did you used in each camera? I guess you used 4K 30 FPS. And in insta the Pure video. It is important as I want to know in shaky low light how it works between pure and normal mode.
The video mentions each camera was set to highest possible resolution. At the time of recording that would be 5k 30 FPS for GoPro. Action 4 was at 4K 30 FPS, and Ace Pro was at 4K 30 FPS (8K was not available at time of review). Cameras that had HDR Video were enabled, and for low light cameras were put in low light mode. All cameras were left on STANDARD stability.
Nice review. From what distance does the remote work? Could be nice to use the insta360 on a drone and use the remot for start and stop the video. edit: i looked it up, 20 meters, so no drone fun :)
another exciting review video, thanks Captain!! The AI Warp looks super interesting and i love the "disappearing steve" game . Btw love your new beard look
I noticed you didn’t mention whether you paid for the Insta360. And by the sticker in the background I will assume that this was sponsored. By the way, kudos on the excellent video. I just received my DJI action four. I definitely think my next camera will be the Insta360 ace pro. This version or the next. My main use will be for Cycling. I abstained on this first camera purchase because of the flip screen. * I just noticed from your video that you don’t need to have the flip screen up to view your preview. Most other reviewers focus so much on having the flip screen up that I didn’t catch anyone talking about it working while it was in the down position. 🤦♂️
Glad you enjoyed the video. Also you may find these two videos of interest as they will answer your questions about products: Vid #1: th-cam.com/video/1C6b__HZAAc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4jYfgJJhSfgNhfFx Vid #2: th-cam.com/video/c95tBIClzDg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=10rczFtrCZ2mWvlH
I’m told (by insta360) that they considered it, but their research showed it was something less than half a percent of users understood or used because it requires processing the footage in expensive software that users don’t own. My advice to you is to think how often you would use such a feature? My background is photography (obviously) and the only cameras I use to shoot TH-cam videos in 10 bit flat profile or higher all cost between $5000 and $10,000 US. The reason is because when you shoot in a flat profile you need to start with an excellent image with over 15 stops of light dynamic range so that you can then pull up the highlights, crush the blacks and color correct. Now think of the GOPRO HERO 12 image… it starts with an image filled with noise. This means on the GoPro that is 10 bit, you begin and end with Crap!
Oooppss, it is apprent you did not understand the response. The Camera has HDR, and a really good HDR. A phone is a terrible item to have a flat log profile and perhaps 1 person out of a million has tried to color correct using it once, then said "to hell with this crap, what a waste of time".
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 flat profiles allow you to better add different sources and then color grade. Ace Pro’s “HDR” is downsized to 8 bit limiting the color / shade representation which is very unfortunate. I hope they change that and allow real HDR HLG
Yes, but in order to damage it you’d probably have to be doing something crazy where you know in advance the camera is gonna get damaged. The fix is to either install an ND or UV filter before you do crazy stuff. Also if you do scratch the lens cover, contact Insta360 and it will be fixed at a very low cost to you.
The GoPro Hero 8 also did not have a removable lens. This is because a removable lens means a thinner design to the camera lens and a flimsy external plastic lens which can affect FOV if not installed correctly and fly off in a crash. The Ace Pro has LEICA lenses so perhaps a removable one was not possible at the price range. My suggestion would be to perhaps slip an ND filter or UV filter over the lens for added protection (when available).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Of course the camera was just released so not a ton of accessories yet. My guess is in very short order there will be tons of accessories available including for lens protection just like there is for virtually every camera and phone at this point. Excellent video by the way.
This is so far the best comparison review I've seen with the top cameras out there because i'm in the market for a new action cam. I'm reading through all the comments and it's really quite hilarious how the 'other fanboys' knock this 4 day old camera down so quickly because of what? really a couple of things that aren't super critical as opposed to the other 10+ features that makes this camera a game changer. The removable lens cover and it's not 10 bit seems to be deal breaker for a camera that shoots better quality videos especially in low light, has a much more advance engine inside, beautiful screen, 10x smoother screen operations then the GoPro who btw, has had years and years to perfect this but nope, still draggy ass screen on the 12, seriously?? The AI yah, it's gimmicky but just the same, pretty cool if you're doing a lot of social media content this is a plus. This isn't a professional actioncam?? Now that's funny, if you're using an action cam to shoot a Hollywood movie, you might want to look for another career. Yes, GoPros has been used to shoot some scenes in movies, but this camera out performs a GoPro, it's literally proven right in this review. Here's some of the game changing features you might want to rewind this review and others to consider, pause function, doesn't catch on fire while recording in hi res, AI editing features right in the camera, GPS sync with smartwatch, longer battery life, fast charging, gesture control, background downloading on app, recording cancel... the list goes on, but nope, can't remove the lens cover, forget it LOL, that's too funny. I own all three brands and I use to sell cameras for a living, this camera IS definitely a game changer, GoPro can learn from innovation instead of gouging it's customer based on it's name. If I had a choice of any future action camera purchases, it would either be Insta360 or DJI, although my DJI Action 2 has left a bad taste in my mouth lol, Insta360 is catching up fast to the big players so they better be very careful. Most of my friends have dropped GoPro, they are just fed up with the bs from that company with it's unreliable hardware anymore. The Insta360 X3 is simply a gorgeous camera, their app integration like DJI is so much more intuitive. Just remember that this is a 5 day old camera, I think with future firmware updates, it's just going to get better.
Thanks Steve, AWESOME JOB!!! Yup, last March I bought a Canon XA50 and now it looks like I'm going to buy one of these too for work that's a little more........personal. 🙃 😅
insta360 cameras' footages are all need to be processed on computer to be stabilazed. so, no stabilazed videos directly from camera. if this one is so as previous generation there is not much to think about. better to go with action 4.
All video is stabilized in camera except FREEFORM ( that one requires that you pick where you want the image to be in post editing). This is a user friendly high end camera with features that leave the DJI Action 4 and GoPro Hero in the dust, so it has to be very user friendly.
Is it possible to choose one morphed imaged and have it remain the same the entire time you are filming. I find the constant changing of one morphed image to another every fraction of a second incredible annoying. So annoying in fact that I wouldn't use the morphing feature at all if you can't prevent the constant switching.

Hi! Does this work from external power without the battery, like gopro to safe the weight? I know the battery is super heavy!
Yes, plug in USB C power
You must mostly fly in nice open space. I have a handful of GoPro lens covers for replacement at any time.
Not sure. It is a very different camera than a GoPro.
Without a doubt, this is the most well-done review for action cameras my amateur eye has seen.😎
I'm loving those "amateur" eyes! Thanks!
DJI pocket 3 performs best in low light, not an action cam but great for blogging.
Action 4 has a better battery life and lighter for a motorcycle cam mounted on the helmet. I feel the flip screen is pointless. They look identical
Hey Steve. 👋 I'm Samiul wanna have a little chat with you. Where I can try to reach you??? Please let me know.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Okay thanks
Hi, great review. How long can you leave the camera on pause for? For example could I film a clip at an airport before take off, pause the camera, and then start another recording a few hours later once I have arrived at the destination? Or would the camera shut itself off after no activity? Thanks
Hmmm… I think it would shut off.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks
I have seen many of these videos. Probably about 30 or so regarding the differences, I now know for certain that the Insta360 ACE PRO is the one I need to get. I'm a wood carver looking for something simple and to the point, but also to film out door adventures and other content subject matter. You have essentially confirmed what better than 2/3rd the video's have confirmed. The Insta360 ACE Pro is the way to go.
Pretty much 90% of my review videos shot in 2024 were filmed on only an ACE PRO (I have a pile of them).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I'm thinking like 2 to start for what I need.
Insta360 Ace Pro is amazing low light filming I pretty love to buy one soon❤❤
Steve great review on the new Insta360 Ace pro. It's the action camera to buy if you don't own an action camera. My only critic is the remote control is really expensive for a remote control. I realize it has tons of feature, but if you want to start and stop a video, it pretty expensive. You can hook up your Apple watch, so maybe a simple app to control the Insta 360 with simple command, from your apple watch. Insta360 engineers are you listening, you can charge a nominal fee for the app. Just saying.....
I believe the GPS watch remote is $100 US if you buy the bundle (camera, remote and other items). It is one of the bundles shown when you click on the link.
wow very detail explanation..does insta 360 ace pro have time lapse feature and how about the battery.
Timelapse Yes. I showed it in the review. Battery is 100 minutes of operation time.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks...
I agree with you and think something is really wrong on action 4...
Just bought the action 4 days ago and I am having buyer’s remorse now hhha. I actually want the insta 360 ace pro now because I usually shoot in low light
Nice to see 3rd major player in the area, hopefully we will see better products from dji/gopro. Now we need someone to enter drone market :)
What about the Ace vs the Ace Pro? Would it blow the other two out of water too? I am looking for a camera to film myself while doing standup comedy. The low light performance does appeal to me so hoping the cheaper Ace will do reasonably well. Thoughts?
The difference is the sensor, so my guess is the ACE has more of an image quality of a regular GOPRO
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Many thanks. Would it be as good in low light as the Pro?
Steve always has the best intros 😭
Was the Action 4 in its Low Light Mode?
All cameras were in whatever low light mode they offer for the low light scenes. As well for the sun, any camera that had HDR video, it was turned on. And finally for filming the Action 4 and Ace Pro were in 4K and the GoPro was in 5K.
may I know if you can record with no battery. Only attached the usb-c power cable just like dji and gopro. I want to use it as a dashcam.
Yes. It will run on external power.
Fab video Steve, thank you 🙏 Does the camera shoot 10Bit video ? might have missed it in your review.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I think they have a good point.. off to buy one then 😊 all the best from the UK 🙏
Great! Thank you for sharing.
Will it work with a garmin watch? And is it backwards compatible to the older insta360 gps remote?
The answer to both questions is.... I honestly don't know.
What can i say, apart from that i am blown away Steve. Nothing comes close. Wow!
Can you map the gps? Can you scuba dive with the insta360watch?
Does this camera stabilize footage like GoPro or you need to post process captured video on PC to have it stabilized?
The came stabilizes the footage
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 can you choose variable video bitrate? GoPro cameras are lacking this feature. They all record with constant bitrate and take a lot of space on SD card. GoPro 8 firmware 2.51 has an option to select H.265 encoder and with resolution 1080p @ 30 or 24 fps it records with 30 Mbps instead of regular 60 Mbps but still it is constant bitrate and wastes a lot of space.
the good thing about color is you can mostly always fix it in post
Oh… that only applies if you film in LOG profile with a high bit rate. Action cameras and drone consumer cameras are next to impossible to color correctly unless the exposure was bang on during filming.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 always film in a LOG or flat profile! Will offer the most in post if you do end up getting exposure or WB wrong at the start
in the Insta360 ACE PRO, the user can remove the batteries when they are energye empy ?where to buy them ? are go pro accesories like a chest strap mount compatible ??? Anybody knows? thank you. and in the meanwhile for saving some money, is a the luosi action camera good for the money ?
The batteries last for 1.5 hours. You can easily remove and replace a battery in seconds. All accessories for the camera are sold on the insta360 store and AMAZON.
Great review❤. Havr you tested how it behaves on FPV drones Steve?
Yes. Works just like other action cameras, but in low light it works even better.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you
Some of those 'special effects' (AI) kinda look cool, but are very gimmicky imo and not something you'll be using much after you've tried them a couple of times.
I did not see an option for a Bluetooth mic. Also I don’t have one to test.
Great video 👌 What if I want to livestream with the Insta360? Hdmi output? Livestream is; Connect via capture card hdmi, with external mic and charge input?
External mic yes. Livestream via USB C… unknown. Also… action cameras never have HDMI out.
For a night football game, you’d have to change the FOV and not swing the camera wildly. PUREVIEW or straight video at 30 FPS 4k would work fine.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you I will try that tonight and see how it works, 🤞🏻. Thank you.
Hello Steeve , I already own the 360 X3 is it really worth buying the Ace Pro ? thank you !
ACE PRO is like a GoPro on steroids. The X3 is a 360 camera, which is completely different from the ACE PRO.

HCC !!! (Holey Crap Captain!!!) where do you find the time do such a comprehensive review!; no brainer as they say regards the overall performance of the Insta; are you going to demonstrate on a Drone / RC Plane / Inspire 2 (sorry, couldn't help that !!)
Very good action camera from Insta 360 and review Steve.
I don't have all the answers, but here goes:
Glad I could help!
Thank you! I did not try using it with my Apple Watch (just too busy).
Awesome your review is game changer ha ha, Greetings from Malaysia

How can I not getting this Ace Pro! I always been a big big GoPro fan, use it for all my videos. But I’m definitely getting a Ace Pro this time! And it is not much expensive than GoPro I think 😂Anyone else thinking there's just too much here to love? Ditching gopro hard this time lol
Enjoy your new Ace Pro!
Cameras have a different minimal focal distance. The GoPro and DJI were farther from my face on either side.
Well you convinced me to sell just Gopro 10 for now and get Insta360 Ace Pro. Good sales man.
@@LandOverviewConsidering all the features the camera has to offer, you should really enjoy it.
can you turn the sharpening down? or use a flat color profile?????????????
Yes. For the entire review, I had mine set to MEDIUM. You can also set it to LOW which would work for you, or HIGH if you really wanted the edges of objects to stick out.
Great review, and thank for sharing.
I love how you explained it end you are having a lot of fun explaining it. Thx now I’m definitely going to order one 😊
Glad it was helpful! I have 3 Ace Pro cameras and use them to shoot my review videos.
Is it possible to add an ND filter to the Insta360 Ace Pro? If not, that will be a deal breaker for many potential buyers. Can the lens cover be replaced?
Yes, filters are available. Check the website.
Will the action camera hat from amazon that you use fit the Ace Pro?
Yes. But the weight of this camera would be felt on your head more than any other action camera.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Ok thank you sir.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks for your reply. I figured that was the case. Now I need to see if I can bluetooth the Insta360 GPS device to my Sony camera to pick up GPS coordinates for photo location. Excellent comparison video. Thank you Captain Steve.
I just got the hero 12 and now I wish I seen your vid first lol. can you bluetooth the 260 like the gopro to other mics like I can with my 12 to my sena
No Bluetooth to mic sun my sample. Mic’s connect via the mic adapter.
Great review but let's cut to the chase. Did you stick it on a drone?
Yes. Check out the FPV Drone vid.
Can you control the camera from the phone app???
Yes

From what distance does the remote work?
Could be nice to use the insta360 on a drone and use the remot for start and stop the video.

One of the best reviews so far ....... detailed and to the point. Thank you
I appreciate that! Glad it was helpful.
Insta350 ace pro looks blurry at 7:10 compared to the other two.
It is simply because the camera is closer to my face than the other two cameras. Action cameras do not have a close range of focus.
Does this camera have an app similar to go pro so you can control the camera at a distance and see the image?
Yes. Or you can simply use the WATCH (if you get that accessory)
another exciting review video, thanks Captain!!

Please tell your Insta360 PR that they should add flat log 10-bit profile and HLG HDR profile!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 if in a phone has hdr hlg or flat log, so can this camera
Oooppss, it is apprent you did not understand the response. The Camera has HDR, and a really good HDR. A phone is a terrible item to have a flat log profile and perhaps 1 person out of a million has tried to color correct using it once, then said "to hell with this crap, what a waste of time".
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 flat profiles allow you to better add different sources and then color grade. Ace Pro’s “HDR” is downsized to 8 bit limiting the color / shade representation which is very unfortunate. I hope they change that and allow real HDR HLG
@@ricarmigoh God, our school system has failed us 😂
hi can you change the glasscover incase it gets scratches or any? thanks!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thankyou!
Will the camera work with no battery for fpv drone what is the lightest you can get the camera to work with a drone
I never tried to external power it.
At 8k, is there any stablisation?
Yes, STANDARD stability setting exists
Also can the camera pair with your phone and use the gps info from google or something?
You are the second person to ask that question and it makes perfect sense. I'll have to check into it.
Can we use the phone app to add the GPS stuff? 😮
It would make sense, but I’m not sure if it’s possible
How big of an issue is it that the lens does not remove like the GoPro and DJI?
Excellent video by the way.
does it have horizon LOCK?
Yes. Watch in the video where I show the 4 Field of Views available.
Thanks, and your comments are an accurate observation of reality.
Mind Blown !!!

Good choice!
Can it stabilize live videos? If not, there's nothing to discuss.
insta360 cameras' footages are all need to be processed on computer to be stabilazed. so, no stabilazed videos directly from camera. if this one is so as previous generation there is not much to think about. better to go with action 4.
Don’t know. I have not played with it enough.
