I drove an R33 gtst with 400 brake, here in the states, the videos are on my channel for those who doubt me. But they are sick! Some thing about an r33 is just irresistable. Its cool watching people experience driving one after driving one myself
I've had a R33 S2 for 10 years now, ~400hp, some suspension mods, 18" rims, etc I've got another 2 newer cars and I really should sell the 33 but the GTS-T is great to drive with great road feel, RWD fun, good midrange, nice sounding smooth engine and they like to rev too. And the thing is it still has climate control, power steering/windows/mirrors, etc and it all still works perfectly. Here in Australia they were really common in the 2000's as imports and they had a fairly plain rounded shape that was common in the 90s so they got a bad name by all the "cool kids" in S-chassis cars but the reality is they were and still are a great car. Definitely the most underrated Nissan.

For me it has always been the R33 that was the most desired, the R32 would be second, and then I'm not a huge fan of the other two, but I'd go R34 then R35. However I have definitely always preferred the rwd models over the awd cars regardless of performance. Anyway, I thought about importing an R32 recently, but.....I'll wait (and probably buy another RX-7 cuz I'm a rotard for life) and maybe pick up an R33 when they're legal. In Japan, G35's are named "Skyline" for some reason, mainly because Infiniti is an American brand I suppose, but they're still rocking the VQ35, rather than the RB25.

I have an R32 GTST Type M 91 and a 98 Supra I just picked up over a month ago. The guy I bought the Supra off of was making a little under 1000 hp on stock internals with stock clutch and trans. I bought it and going to build her through the winter. I also have another car you might be interested in. 02 WRX wagon with 05 wrx front clip with a straight six swap, 2j 3.0 from a Toyota Soarer. Straight six engines are my life. My 32 is a drifter and the Supra will be built for mostly fun and highway rolls. Had to extend the front of the wagon to fit the I6. Most subi owners hate me, but it's my car. It was a shell when I bought it and had a motor laying around. Still AWD as well with the I6.

I can't really explain why I love inline 6's, other than they way they feel when you push them to the limits. I feel 100% control over my cars by them. Us Australians have just recently got the new GT Mustangs and theyre pretty rare atm on the roads, at least where I live in Sydney, so whenever I see one it outs a smile on my face. I recently went to Hawaii however, and every second car is one. It just depends on where you live and how much you see it I guess :)
i bought my R33 GTR back in 2011 and never looked back.... been a pleasure owning it .. and it hasn't changed my life drastically hehe... treating it just like every other car and of course do regular maintenance . before i went single turbo route cost was minimal... It got here because a company a few years ago ACTUALLY crash tested a few of them and paid the fees/etc to federalize the R33 and was selling them. They got put to a stop because they had only tested/certified one year of the R33 and they were selling newer ones that had slight differences. People who already had them legally got to keep them.
Not really a fan of the RB25. Sound too much like a truck engine, especially on startup. But just like the other RBs they have a ton of potential with simple bolt ons, fuel and tune.

R32 Front end (in some versions) AWD, has a modified Subaru 22B set of tail lights, all in a wagon package. and this was a vehicle envisioned back in 2007, before JDM culture even took off here in the states
In your opinion is right hand drive "comfortable" as a daily driver or would you suggest against that? I have never driven one but I feel like it would be irritating as an everyday car instead of a weekend/fun car. Also is the shift pattern on it the same as a manual transmission (as in 1st gear on the left side ) from the States or is it flipped backwards (as in 1st gear on the right side)? I ask because I am thinking about attempting to save up for an R34 GTR once they become legal here in the US.
r32s are due to the 25 year law. You can get "grey market" motorex cars(33 and 34s) for around 40k+ as they are legal in all 50 states as they have been crash tested and emission compliant.
I know that the R33 is most ppl's least favorite of the Skylines, but I love the way it looks. This is a very beautiful example. Clean and fairly simple, but still sinister in a way. You've been able to legally import an R33 since 2005 they just cost a lot if done 100% correctly. After Motorex went under the company that helped import them made the FMVSS and NHTSA dockets go public. Honestly though.... It's a 20 year old car and costs around $30k to import. It's not worth it unless you collect cars. See quite a few R33 skylines about on the road here in the UK now so less of a big deal but they're still nice, the R32 and R34 though rarely see those!

There's nothing quite like the first time you nail your first downshift/heel-toe. Its an irreplaceable skill that cannot be bought, and an integral part of what makes driving so damn enjoyable for me.
I believe that one or two companies ever "made" them LHD. Basically conversions, I believe Autech was one of them as well as a company in Dubai which I don't remember the name.

In the styling department. Mechanically, not much better than the R33. Biggest upgrade is a screen that shows boost, oil pressure and temperature. That's it.

I had a built RB25. Getting parts is not as hard as everyone thinks. A lot of 300zx parts are interchangeable, as well as the Internet has everything you can ever need for cheaper than anything in store.
the ones here in the US are imported straight from Japan,. this car was also sold in the UAE left hand drive. You can find plenty of those in the middle east left hand drive.
Previous owner of a r33 gtst here (and soon to be new owner of r33 when i can find the right gear/project), they're amazing cars with dope tuning support... Aslong as you get rid of HICUS before it gets rid of you... you'll have a fucking awesome car. Still haven't seen any "boat" comments yet.. but the curb weight is less than some of the haters think.
You put into words why I'm not much of a fan of the R35. I can appreciate the engineering perfection it is, but it is a soulless car. Now I can finally explain this to people!

Common misconception RB parts arent as rare as everybody thinks they are. Most Nissan dealerships, at least near me in NJ, have catalogs for skyline parts. Many parts come from z32/300zx. That being said 2jz/1jz parts are more available, you can go to any auto parts and they should have most parts you need in stock.

I totally understand what you were trying to say in your R33 vs R35 debate. Only thing is that, stock for stock, as a daily, I wouldn't think twice and take the R35. But then, if we are not going stock for stock, but modified? I'd definitely take the R33, just bcos it's an 90s manual Japanese turbocharged RB25DET coupe, able to be modified into a street/track car without spending too much. That is all.

I think a R33 is best for me. Not as expensive as a R34, but airbags and a better interior than a R32.

Not really a fan of the RB25. Sound too much like a truck engine, especially on startup. But just like the other RBs they have a ton of potential with simple bolt ons, fuel and tune.

R32 Front end (in some versions) AWD, has a modified Subaru 22B set of tail lights, all in a wagon package. and this was a vehicle envisioned back in 2007, before JDM culture even took off here in the states

In your opinion is right hand drive "comfortable" as a daily driver or would you suggest against that?
I have never driven one but I feel like it would be irritating as an everyday car instead of a weekend/fun car.
Also is the shift pattern on it the same as a manual transmission (as in 1st gear on the left side ) from the States or is it flipped backwards (as in 1st gear on the right side)?
I ask because I am thinking about attempting to save up for an R34 GTR once they become legal here in the US.

r32s are due to the 25 year law. You can get "grey market" motorex cars(33 and 34s) for around 40k+ as they are legal in all 50 states as they have been crash tested and emission compliant.

I know that the R33 is most ppl's least favorite of the Skylines, but I love the way it looks. This is a very beautiful example. Clean and fairly simple, but still sinister in a way. You've been able to legally import an R33 since 2005 they just cost a lot if done 100% correctly. After Motorex went under the company that helped import them made the FMVSS and NHTSA dockets go public. Honestly though.... It's a 20 year old car and costs around $30k to import. See quite a few R33 skylines about on the road here in the UK now so less of a big deal but they're still nice, the R32 and R34 though rarely see those!

Really great review Dude. The 33 is definitely my favorite GTR. I do agree with you as well. As an enthusiast I care about interaction and driver involvement. There's nothing quite like the first time you nail your first downshift/heel-toe. Its an irreplaceable skill that cannot be bought, and an integral part of what makes driving so damn enjoyable for me.
They made like 130 left hand drive converted r34s from the factory for a certain country but that's it

In the styling department. Mechanically, not much better than the R33. Biggest upgrade is a screen that shows boost, oil pressure and temperature. That's it.

I had a built RB25. Getting parts is not as hard as everyone thinks. A lot of 300zx parts are interchangeable, as well as the Internet has everything you can ever need for cheaper than anything in store.
the ones here in the US are imported straight from Japan,. this car was also sold in the UAE left hand drive. You can find plenty of those in the middle east left hand drive.
Finally after subscribing for so long you finally made a r33 video 👌🏻 I own one myself 18psi 250kw on a rebuilt r34 highflow turbo
Previous owner of a r33 gtst here (and soon to be new owner of r33 when i can find the right gear/project), they're amazing cars with dope tuning support... Aslong as you get rid of HICUS before it gets rid of you... you'll have a fucking awesome car. Still haven't seen any "boat" comments yet.. but the curb weight is less than some of the haters think.
You put into words why I'm not much of a fan of the R35. I can appreciate the engineering perfection it is, but it is a soulless car. Now I can finally explain this to people!

Common misconception RB parts arent as rare as everybody thinks they are. Most Nissan dealerships, at least near me in NJ, have catalogs for skyline parts. Many parts come from z32/300zx. That being said 2jz/1jz parts are more available, you can go to any auto parts and they should have most parts you need in stock.

I totally understand what you were trying to say in your R33 vs R35 debate. Only thing is that, stock for stock, as a daily, I wouldn't think twice and take the R35. But then, if we are not going stock for stock, but modified? I'd definitely take the R33, just bcos it's an 90s manual Japanese turbocharged RB25DET coupe, able to be modified into a street/track car without spending too much. That is all.
